She gazed steadily at Reid, finally realizing that the saboteur, who tampered with her phone turned out
to be Brian.
King had been injured in a hit–and–run and was hospitalized. Q’s rebellion was also a result of Brian’s
dealings with Galactix Space Tech. He was desperate to acquire accurate information on FireWing.
“Mr. Howard, we’ve lost the trail!” Reid returned to the ground floor of the hospital, where Brian was
quietly receiving anti–inflammatory medication, and whispered urgently.
Brian glanced at Reid without a word.
“But the mole Galactix Space Tech planted in Truth Group was sure FireWing left the Truth Group
headquarters in that licensed vehicle an hour ago. If FireWing came here, King is here!” Reid continued
in a hushed tone.
“Then keep eyes on this place.” Brian replied nonchalantly.
The nurse finished administering the medication, and Brian withdrew his arm, pressing a cotton pad to
the injection site as he stood up and walked out.
The calmer Brian appeared the more Reid’s nerves were on edge. They’d been on this chase for
weeks, and it felt like the prey had just slipped through their fingers. But FireWing was crucial to their
plans!
“Mr. Howard, what if I stake out here round the clock? They will slip up eventually. Or maybe we should
run a background check on all patients admitted on the 23rd and 24th?” Reid suggested after a few
seconds of thought, catching up to Brian.
Brian took his coat from a bodyguard and whispered, “I just got a call from home. Nate’s in some
trouble.”
Seeing Brian changing out of his patient’s attire, Reid understood that he was worried about Nate and
planning to head back.
“But…” Reid hesitated.
“Go home with me.” Brian said in a low voice as he dressed.
In the emergency room on the first floor of the hospital, King sat on the edge of the hospital bed,
frowning as he watched the nurse bandage Natalie’s arm where a bullet had grazed her.
“I told you not to get involved!” He snapped. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Though the wound was only a few centimeters long and not too deep, the bloodied sight was shocking.
“I’m sorry…” Natalie murmured, biting her lip.
“And you just had to act recklessly against their superior numbers! How have I taught you to

behave?” King’s voice grew sterner with each word.
The situation had been exceptional. And if she hadn’t recognized Reid and hesitated, stunned. for a
second, he would never have been able to shoot her.
Natalie looked at King, torn about what to say next.
She was struggling inside. If she told King about Brian’s actions, she would pit them against each other.
Moreover, she wasn’t sure if Brian had sent Galactix Space Tech to kill King or if Galactix Space Tech
was using Brian’s name to eliminate King and shift the blame.
Without clarity on this matter, a big misunderstanding was inevitable.
And she didn’t want King to worry about her entanglement with Brian.
After a moment’s thought, she resignedly said, “I’m sorry for getting you worried. It won’t happen
again.”
“There’s going to be a next time?” King’s frown deepened.
She had broken his rules. If it had been anyone else, they would have been punished or fired on the
spot, but this was Natalie.
He didn’t know what to do with her. A single hair out of place on her head would have him worried sick,
let alone an injury.
“It’s okay…” Seeing that she had indeed upset him, Natalie responded softly, with a hint of playful
defiance.
King met her gaze for a few seconds and said quietly, “You should return to the country. tomorrow and
lay low for a while. Gun control is stricter there, and it’s safer
“But what about you…”
