Chapter 838
Chapter 0838
Miranda would turn and playfully hit his chest while he pulled her into his embrace…
“You’re up?” Willow was surprised when she turned and saw Hansel there.
Hansel was jolted back to reality and nodded. “Yes.”
“Um… I couldn’t get a ride last night, so I stayed in the guest room. I figured your stomach would be uncomfortable this morning after a night of drinking, so I thought I’d make some light breakfast. You… don’t mind, do you?”
“I don’t. Thanks for the thought.”
“Thanks for letting me stay the night,” she said. “It’s just a token of appreciation. Breakfast will be ready soon!”
Hansel walked over to the dining table, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
Shortly after, Willow brought out steaming hot pumpkin soup and freshly fried eggs. She served Hansel a bowl, placed it before him, and handed him the soup spoon.
Hansel was accustomed to being served by staff, so he took them without a word of thanks. However, Willow couldn’t help but pursed her lips, a look of grievance flashing her eyes after having done all this.
She had willingly done these things, yet his entitled attitude left her feeling slightly hurt. Her tentative testing of the waters didn’t escape Hansel’s notice, but he couldn’t care less. In fact, a faint trace of mockery flickered in his eyes.
Willow had chosen to stay the night, and she was the one who got up early and made the pumpkin soup. Hansel didn’t request anything from her at all.
Since it was her decision, she should bear the consequences of those choices herself.
Hansel looked at the bowl of pumpkin soup before him, and his gaze softened. He took a sip, and it tasted even more similar to Miranda’s. A satisfied smile appeared on his lips.
Willow felt secretly delighted when she noticed his pleasure. Her effort wasn’t in vain. He seemed to like it.
“How is it?” she asked softly.
Hansel didn’t comment and simply said, “You should eat too. Once we’re done, I’ll call a ride for you.”
Willow fell silent.

Meanwhile, at the Garrison estate, Miranda woke up and came downstairs to find everyone
already up.
Mindy and Fiona were making roasted lamb. The freshly cooked lamb filled the kitchen with a savory aroma. Having roast lamb on Easter symbolized rebirth and new beginnings. Aren and Lionel were engrossed in a game of chess. Their intense match was at a critical stage. Both of them were concentrated on the game, neither willing to back down.
Fiona asked, “Mimi, you’re awake? Why not sleep a little longer?”
Miranda scratched her head. “Everyone’s already up. How can I sleep in?”
She smiled and said, “It’s normal för children to sleep in.” novelbin
Miranda didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She was already in her 20s. How was she still considered a child?
Fiona’s favoritism couldn’t have been more obvious.
Soon, the steaming roasted lamb was served on the table.
‘Breakfast is ready! You two, stop playing!” Fiona said to Aren and Lionel.
Aren didn’t even glance away from the chessboard. “Don’t rush me! We’re about to finish the game!”
As soon as he said that, Lionel announced, “Checkmate!”
Taken aback, Aren was at a loss for words when Lionel added, “Dad, how about we eat first? The roasted lamb isn’t as good once it becomes cold. This round doesn’t count. Let’s have another round after the meal.”
“Good idea! We should eat while the food is still hot.”
The two immediately got up.
Aren felt secretly pleased. Of course, this round didn’t count!
After breakfast, Fiona was about to head to the garden when Mindy called her back. “Mom, there’s something I think you and Dad ought to know.”
Hearing that, Fiona froze in place.
