Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 598

Nathan gave him a glance, "I don't care," he said, his focus solely on Nathalie's injuries.

Cameron, ever the sly one, managed to fool the patrolling doctor with a quick, "Oh, I'm just heading back to the room now," as he made his way to his daughter's room. With Nathalie suddenly moved to the emergency room, one of the beds in the double room was free. Cameron acted like he was settling in, dodging the doctor's watchful eye.noveldrama

Once the coast was clear, he hopped off the bed and headed for the door, cracking it open just enough to keep a vigilant eye on the hallway.

Nathan wasn't as easily rattled as Cameron; he stood calmly by the emergency room door, exuding a defiant aura that dared anyone to challenge him. Oddly enough, no doctor seemed inclined to shoo him

away.

Cameron, arms crossed, watched Nathan with a puzzled look. Who held more sway? The mysterious VIP who had suddenly shown up at the hospital, or Nathan, this newly minted prince of sorts? Or maybe there was something special between the VIP and Nathan that granted him immunity from the doctor's sweep? As Cameron mulled over these thoughts, noise at the far end of the corridor caught his attention. He strained to hear, catching snatches of, "Rest assured, we'll do everything to save Ms. Nathalie." Cameron was floored. The mysterious VIP was here for Nathalie? But how could she possibly know someone more influential than Nathan, aside from her connection to him, the wealthy young heir? He widened the door crack to get a better view. A formidable group approached, led by two rows of suited bodyguards, trailed by the hospital's dean, chief, and top surgeons. Cameron caught a glimpse of a wheelchair moving swiftly towards them, but it was enveloped by the bodyguards, making it impossible to see who was in it.

Cameron racked his brain, trying to recall any high-profile figures from the Capital known to have a leg disability, but nothing came to mind.

The entourage soon reached the emergency room entrance. Nathan stood there, facing them silently, his expression serene but unable to mask the guilt in his eyes.

The wheelchair rolled to a stop in

front of Nathan. "How did this happen?" a deep, husky voice asked, carrying the weight of age and

wisdom. The voice

s captivan

yet the tone was unmistakably that

of an elder.

Nathan responded with unexpected humility, "I don't know. The accident blindsided me. In hindsight, I've

made too many enemies; it must have been retaliation."

"I'll get to the bottom of this

accident, the man retorted, clearly

unsatisfied with Nathan's

explanation. "I need to know why her condition suddenly took a tum for the worse." en

"It was my mistake. I thought she was fine since she was talking and conscious, so I let her sleep. I shouldn't have."

A cold tension emanated from the man, chilling the air like an open freezer door. Everyone held their breath, afraid to break the silence.

Cameron's curiosity piqued; this VIP

was bold enough to publicly reprimand Nathan, which meant his standing was even higher. And Nathan seemed to know exactly who he was dealing with.
