Chapter 236
Chapter 236
Luca’s POV
“No, no child yet, not anytime soon.” I said to him on a low voice and I heard a little sound coming from
his side of his phone that lasted for a couple of seconds before finally dying into his background, right
as he started to speak. “Oh… why then did you get married?”
“That’s just to make everybody shut the fuck up.” I said to him and paused for a couple of moments
before continuing. “Not like I cared about what people thought or say, but because the people that
called the shots along with me were starting to get worried so I had to go indulge them, that’s all.” I
informed him, not knowing how I was going to tell him about the fact that it was one of the best
decisions that I have ever made in my entire life, and how I’ve never regretted taking Sofia as a wife.
“Hm, that’s a lot more understandable, I guess.” He informed me and I chuckled a little without saying a
thing in response to him.
“So, what about you?” I asked in the next moment.
“There’s nothing going on with me, it’s just boring old me.” He informed me and I couldn’t help but roll
my eyes at his response.
“Are you saying there’s nobody in the picture? No girlfriend?” I asked and when he hesitated, I decided
to continue to speak instantly. “Or is there a boyfriend in the picture?”
I paused at first as I shifted a little on the desk.
“You know I wouldn’t mind if that’s the case, right? You should know me more than anyone else and
know the fact that I most definitely wouldn’t mind something as natural as that…” I continued to speak
but he cut into what I was saying with a voice that sounded so much like he was whining.
“No, no, it’s not that.” He breathed into the phone as soon as he had interrupted what I was saying.
“It isn’t?” I asked in a light voice in the next second.
“No, not that.” He clarified in the next second.
“Are you sure?” I demanded, wanting to be completely sure at that moment.
“Yeah, I am. I’m not into that.” He informed me in a small voice and I felt myself breathing out a small
snort.
“It’s perfectly alright if you’re not, but then it doesn’t matter if you’re into it, it’s perfectly normal if you
are.” I reassured him as I moved a little on the edge of my table once again.
“I’m serious, I’m not into that.” He huffed out around a small laugh this time.
“Alright.” I paused for a few seconds at first. “So, is there a girlfriend in the picture?” I inquired once
again.
“Not really…” He started to speak and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at his response, “You whore.” He
murmured around a small laugh in the next moment.
We talked for a few more minutes before it got to the time for me to host a meeting with the heads of
this particular company, and I had to get off the phone.
“When did you say you were coming here once again?” I asked into the phone as I signaled for James
to remain silent as he started to make his way into my office and had instantly been about to start to
speak.
“In a couple of days, I’ll call you before leaving here.” He said into the phone and I started to nod my
head instantly as I moved off the edge of the table I had been seated on, as I moved towards my chair Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
at the other side of the desk.
“Alright. I’ll have people start to look over everywhere to ensure it’s completely safe for you to come
back.” I said to him and ended the call after exchanging a few more words With him.
“Is that someone I know?” James asked as soon as I placed the phone on the desk before me and at
the same time sank deep into my chair, leaning my back against the backrest and puffing out a deep
breath in the next moment.
“Take a guess.” I said to him as I lifted one of my eyebrows up while staring up at him. He pursed his
lips because he didn’t like taking guesses to begin with.
“Uh? You don’t have any other friends apart from myself, so I guess I’d say Travis?” He asked and I
rolled my eyes as I pushed myself out of my chair into a standing position, and I started to get ready for
the incoming meeting.
“Try harder.” I said to him from above my shoulder and his answering groan sounded like music to my
ears,
“Let’s say… I don’t know, man. Just tell me who the person was.” He demanded and I ignored him until
it got to a point whereby I was already done with gathering all the necessary files I was going to be
needing right before I turned around and snorted at the facial expression on him at that moment.
“That’s Mani.” I said to him in a flat voice and as expected, his mouth fell open instantly.
“Holy shit.” He breathed out in a low voice with the shock still very evident on his face and I just know
that it was the same expression that had been on my face s soon as he first spoke into the phone.
“Yeah, he called.” I said to him in the next moment, because I knew how much James cared for him
and how James also saw him as a baby brother.
“Why? He did call for a reason, right?” James asked and I made to start to speak but he cut me off
before I could even begin. “Is he in some kind of trouble? Did something happen to him? Is that why he
called? He needs our help? Is he alright? Is he hurt? Is he…” James started to throw hundreds of
questions at me at once and I managed to finally cut into one of his questions in a voice that was quite
louder than his own.
“He’s fine, he’s fine, there’s no need for you to worry.” I informed him and watched as he only managed
to lose some of the tension in his shoulders before he had started to once again speak. “Why did he
call though? He never calls and I had even thought he had completely forgotten about you and this
world.” James continued and I felt myself breathing out a small sigh, because all what James had just
said has managed to cross my mind.
James’ and my brain tend to work together or in sync sometimes, and this right here was proof.
“I thought about the same thing…” I started to say to him in a low voice after a few moments as my
mind went back to the day I had taken Sofia into the room in which holds so many memories of my
brother and I. I had taken her in there on that particular day because a part of myself had still been
finding it hard to accept the fact that my brother whom I had sent away for his own safety had managed
to forget me.
To say I was glad when his call had come through today would be an understatement. I haven’t even
been able to tell Sofia about my younger brother on that day when I was supposed to, because I didn’t
have to stare at her face to see the way curiosity was dripping off her, but then the pain which I had
been feelimg inside of me in that particular moment, had prevented me from doing such… and in order
to somehow numb the pain, I had ended up diverting her attention from the whole thing around that
room and the question that was still most definitely inside her head, by getting her all worked up With
my words and hands and lips until I had ended up laying her over the piano right there, and eating her
out thoroughly in a way I was sure had left her really dazed and light headed.
“He hasn't forgotten about us, which is all that matters.” I started to speak as I breathed out a deep
breath.
“True, that’s literally all that matters.” He echoed after me in the next second.
“Let’s head out then.” I said to him as I softly tapped on his shoulder as I walked past him.
“Wait –” He called out just as he stopped me from walking past him by placing his hand on my elbow,
and I paused and stared at him patiently.
“Why’s he coming back though? You still haven’t given me a reason.” He pointed out to me.
“Oh, he just misses home, that’s all. No other actual reason.” I unturned him almost instantly.
“Do you think it’s safe for him to come here though?” James asked in the next second.
