Chapter 31 Not in a Good Mood Anymore
Chapter 31 Not in a Good Mood Anymore
Susan’s face turned pale as she stared blankly at Liam for a few seconds before letting out a wail and
bursting into tears. Covering her face with her hands, she ran out the hall.
Everyone in the dining hall was shocked, but given Liam’s grim facial expression, nobody dared
intercede on behalf of Susan. Nobody was brave enough even to breathe. The huge dining hall was
suddenly as silent as a graveyard.
Amber, too, was stunned when she heard Liam telling Susan to scram.
"What in the world was going on? It couldn’t be that Liam had stood up for me, right?" Amber lowered
her eyes as she wondered. Right beside her was Liam’s pressed trousers. Those straight, long legs of
his emanated an air of arrogance. All of a sudden, bubbles of happiness formed in the depths of her
heart. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Liam surveyed the shocked faces of his subordinates quietly before he opened his mouth to speak. “I
am honored to introduce to everyone my fiancée—Amber Currie.”
Fiancée? Everyone was stunned into silence once again.
They were all familiar with gossip regarding Liam’s habit of appearing at hotels with different women,
but this young girl in front of them who wore simple clothes and whose actions were unmatured was
nothing like the women on the news! Those who appeared in the photos were flirtatious women who
dressed scantily.
John the manager and Lily exchanged glances. Both of them wore grim expressions on their faces.
They had a hunch that this was taking a bad turn.
John immediately tried to fend for himself as he explained, “Mr. Croft, I... I had no idea that Miss Currie
is your fiancée. Lily was the one who arranged for the catwalk—I had no knowledge of this at all!”
Lilly glared at John as she gritted her teeth in frustration, but because her position was lower than his,
she had no choice but to suppress her anger.
Mr. Neil was standing at a side, enjoying the show. He was relieved that he had only arranged for
Susan to come to accompany Liam for a drink, and had nothing to do with Mr. Croft’s fiancée!
“Go retrieve your 24-months salary from the finance department! Don’t ever come back.” Liam didn't
speak with a loud voice, and his usual indifferent look was back. Yet those words of his were nothing
short of a bomb, causing everyone to jump out of their skin.
They had all met their CEO's previous fiancée—she was even prettier and more elegant than Miss
Currie—but Liam had never been in such a rush before!
It was a mere glass of wine. Even if Susan had done that on purpose, it didn't require such a decision
right? What more to say, John had worked for years at this company—how could Liam just fire him this
way? This was simply too heart-wrenching!
After settling matters with John, Liam diverted his attention to Mr. Neil. “Sell off your shares. I’ll pay you
double the price.”
Liam dragged Amber with him as he left the hall that was dead silent, leaving the crowd behind to
wonder amongst themselves. The jolly celebration had suddenly turned into a murderous situation.
Once they walked out of the dining hall, Liam let go of Amber’s hand.
Amber looked at Liam in confusion and realized that he looked terrible—even worse than when they
were in the dining hall!
She had wanted to thank him, but seeing how bad he looked, she dared not open her mouth to say
anything. Those bubbles of happiness deep down in her heart immediately popped. She was no fool.
Liam was giving her attitude!
If she had thought that Liam had a thing for her just now, it was evident that she had thought too highly
of herself. The reason he had so boldly stood up for her just now was probably none other than to
protect his own reputation!
