Chapter 713
Chapter 713
Bernard's voice was hopeful, causing Hera's heart to pound fast. She would not deny that she loved him. But Lucius ' matter was still in their way.
Since Hera did not object, Bernard considered her to have agreed. "Sweetie, say you love me, okay? I want to hear you say that."
Hera's lips parted. She was about to answer when she suddenly noticed several figures at the entrance. She looked up to see that Catherine and Douglas had returned, followed by Aaron and Nathan.
Hera was at a loss for words.
When Catherine and Douglas walked out of the ward, they ran into Aaron and Nathan, who asked for Hera's ward number. Thus, Catherine decided to turn around and lead them directly to the ward.
Upon returning, Catherine realized that Hera and Bernard, who had advised her to stay earlier, seemed to have completely changed immediately.
It was Catherine's first time seeing Bernard plead so humbly, which completely changed her impression of him. Was he truly the same Bernard who usually came off so cold, making it hard for anyone to approach him?
In the past, Hera told Catherine that Bernard had taken the initiative, but Catherine did not believe her. To Catherine, that would only happen if pigs started flying.
Now that she had seen that version of Bernard with her own eyes, perhaps pigs indeed could fly.
"Are we disturbing you two?" Aaron cleared his throat.
"Shall we drop by tomorrow?" Nathan asked.
"Sure."
"No need."
Bernard and Hera answered at the same time. Hera immediately glanced at Bernard before turning to ask Aaron," What's up?"
Aaron was impressed with Bernard's survival instincts.
"Hera, we found this in the Imperial Hotel's broadcast room while clearing the crime scene. It's yours, right?" Aaron asked while taking out a transparent bag from his briefcase.
The bag contained the broken conch bracelet, and only two out of four conches remained. It was indeed Hera's lucky bracelet that she cherished very much.
"Yes." She reached for the bag and poured its contents on her palm. The platinum chain that connected the conches together had snapped into several sections. One of the conches was even scorched.
Bernard watched Hera carefully touch the conches. She seemed disappointed as she poured the conches from her palm into the bag. "I'll have it mended."
"Can it even be fixed?" Hera inquired. Since the bracelet had snapped, it probably couldn't be restored to its original condition even after being fixed.
"Yes!" Bernard declared confidently.
Even if Hera knew it couldn't be mended properly, she still trusted him. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Hera, is it convenient to talk?" Nathan asked.
Hera knew that he wanted to discuss Linda's case. She cast a glance at Bernard. She didn't really want him to hear about the case.
Then, she had a change of mind. Nathan worked for Bernard, so it wouldn't be hard for him to learn about the case. Hence, she nodded.
"Linda has admitted to hiring a hitman to kill Daphne 12 years ago. This is a record of her confession," Nathan said while taking out a folder from his briefcase.
"As for Mr. Greg's death, she's unwilling to say anything about that."
Hera's left hand was bandaged while her right hand was connected to the IV drip, making it inconvenient for her to take the folder. Thus, Bernard reached for the folder and opened it for her.
Hera skimmed through the document very quickly. The recorded confession matched what Linda said in the interrogation video.
Aside from a stamp, Linda's signature and fingerprint were found toward the end of the document. There was no way that the document was falsified.
After looking through the document, Hera passed it to Catherine, who began to tear up after reading through it. She finally knew the truth about Daphne's death.
"If you don't have any questions, the court will sentence her to death next week," Nathan reminded Hera
She knew what he was implying. If she did not ask anything before Linda's execution, she wouldn't get any more answers from her after that. After all, the dead couldn't speak.
"I want to see her tomorrow. Could you arrange for that?" Hera inquired.
Nathan was about to say yes when Bernard cut him to it, "Let's do it the day after."
