Chapter 55
"So that makes it our fifth option? Good."
"Katherine and I will come have a look at them when we arrive. She should be able to have a favorite amongst the five and if you find any other properties that beats this one, feel free to inform me." Oliver said to his best buddy, Jack Philips.
"Sure, dude."
"But hey, are you really sure about this?"
Oliver rolled his eyes at him over the phone. Not caring that Jack could not even see him.
"I'm fucking serious, dude. Your decisions are beginning to look like you know it all but trust me, it's not easy as it seems,"
"What do you know about being a family man?" He said rather calmly to his best friend.
"I have a kid, remember? You should take me as your role model and even consult me before making all these decisions."
"So you are making fun of me now?"
"Of course, not. I just don't think you are ready. For someone like you that has always detested the idea of getting married and all, three children is a lot dude!"
"Perfect, so you're suggesting that I should abandon them?"
"Oh no... Stop making me seem like the devil here. Everyone knows you're literally married to your job. The only fun you have outside of your job is going to the club and of course, womanizing. Can you even do without that? Wait? Does Drea know about this? What's going to happen to her?" "It's not too late to rethink this, dude. You can just let them stay back there, support your baby mama by sending her money from time to time and when you're less busy, you can travel to see them."
"That way, you would still have your life together, oversee the company, and be with as many babes as you want."
"But why are you all thinking so low of me?"
"Low of you?!" Jack bluttered out, feeling confused.
"Yeah I know I don't have a good history but I thought making a decision like this will make you all proud of me? Not that I care about you guy's opinion anyways."
Oliver had always taken everything in life as a competition. To him, it was either you are on the winning side or the losing team and the latter did not appeal to him. Every time people said he couldn't do something or achieve something. He always took it as a challenge to supersede their expectations.
"Proud of you? Of course, I am but I think we need to be realistic here. How would you even cope?"
"Katherine seems to be really innocent. She might have issues with you if you aren't faithful to her. I know you, Ollie. I know what you're capable of. Are you sure you can stick to one woman for life and are you sure you're ready to be a full-time Dad? Kids can be really annoying and demanding. You don't have one but three of them."
"I see that you all really underrate me."
"Don't talk that way. No one is underrating you. You just have to be ready for what you're signing up for."
"You probably wouldn't understand my reason for this but it's fine. This is what I want and I'm going to go for it."
"Cool. You've got my support. I can't wait to meet Katherine and your kids. You are about to keep all of Australia's media busy. You've just broken the heart of a million ladies."
"Yeah, about that. It's been taken care of. No one will know anything unless I'm ready to reveal the truth."
"Makes sense."
"Yeah, I have no problem with it because they would know eventually but I need to respect Katherine's privacy and also that of my children. They are moving to an entirely new place and the least I can do is to provide them with good security."
"Yes, I get you. You've done the right thing."
"I'm really surprised about your decisions but I'm rooting for you and I hope it works out best for you. Let me know if I can be of help in any way." "Yeah, thanks," Oliver mumbled.
"One more thing," Jack mumbled, before Oliver ended the call.
"You know I love you so much and I would do anything for you but please don't make me a godfather." He said in a rush.
Oliver couldn't help rolling his eyes.
"I heard one's friends are mostly godparents but I promise you that I'm not ready."
"Dude, I'm already useless enough. Why the hell would I make you godfather to those innocent children."
Jack sighed in relief. "Just saying."
"I will reach out to you if I need anything."
Just as Oliver was about to end the call, a knock came through.
"Yes, come in." He had no idea who it could be but he was hoping that it was Katherine or any of the maids coming to inform him of Katherine's presence since it was almost 4 pm and he hadn't seen her or heard from her and the children.
"Here comes the bride."
"And why do I feel you are not happy to see me?" She said as she took slow steps towards him, with her heels clicking against the tiled floor.
"I didn't say so. Maybe because I was hoping it would be someone else at the door."
"Yeah, Magda told me about that. Thank goodness you're putting on clothes today. Can I at least have a hug?"
Beatrice hugged him before he could even decide.
He smiled, returning the hug and they both sealed it with a friendly kiss on the cheek.
"You look gorgeous. You're glowing!"
Bea blushed, taking a seat at the edge of the bed while Oliver stood still. He was just a few steps away from her.
"It's the glow that comes with being a newlywed."
"I see." He mumbled. "I hope you had a good time at the wedding yesterday."
"Definitely! A day like that doesn't come twice with the same man so I made up my mind that I was going to enjoy every bit of it."
"Though I heard of how you turned my house upside down and almost ruined my party, making me wonder if I did the right thing, inviting you to my party."
"I'm so sorry. You know I wouldn't do anything on purpose to annoy you or ruin your day. That was the only opportunity I had to make things right so I had to make judicious use of it."
"I never liked Lewis. I've always known something was so off about him. Thank God you both didn't make a scene at the party. I would have put you both behind bars."
Oliver chuckled. "I was being careful not to let that happen. But really? You would do that to the father of your grandchildren, your ex-step son and your future son-in-law?"
"Okay...chill..." Beatrice laughed. "Where did all these titles come from?"
"But are you really serious about it?"
"I am."
"Ollie?!!!!"
He chuckled, "The way you all doubt me motivates me even more. I know it's not going to be easy but I'm ready for it. I've lived an irresponsible lifestyle so far. I want to know how it is to be responsible."
"You're doing this because of your mom?"
"Please don't bring her into this. I'm doing this because I want to. I know the amount of hatred I feel for her and I don't want my kids to ever look at me that way or feel that way towards me."
"How's Katherine holding up? She's giving you a hard time, isn't she?" Beatrice said, knowing her daughter well.
"I really don't know. Maybe she still feels all of this is a joke. She's meant to be here with the triplets but I haven't heard from her."
"Sometimes, I can't tell who is more stubborn. You or my daughter?"
"She's the one who has been holding unnecessary grudges against me. I'm just trying to make this right. It's not going to be easy for any of us but this is a change she has to adapt to. I'm sorry she has to sacrifice a lot but she's not going to Australia to suffer either." Oliver sighed. "I don't know.... I'm just trying to make things work."
"I get you but you will have to be very patient with her if you want this to work."
"Yeah, I know. I won't lie that patience is not my thing but I'm willing to give this my all. I just hope she doesn't push me to the wall, to the point where
I'll lose it."
"Don't think too deep, honey.
Katherine doesn't have the heart to be wicked for long. Just be patient and be sweet to her. She will come around know you two still have some unused feelings for each other sot sort of have some faith in your plan."
Oliver chuckled, "unused feelings?"
"Oh please!" She waved her hand. "Even if you guys fool everyone, you can't fool me. I see the way you guys stare at each other. I would be
surprised if you both aren't expecting another baby already."
Oliver chuckled, "Calm down, Bea. We can't do all of these under your nose."
"You gave her three under the nose of two freaking adults. How many should I be expecting now? 6?"
"Stop being ridiculous. We didn't do anything that deep."
"Thank God you confessed. I know you all can't keep your hands off each other for long."
Oliver shrugged, not knowing what else to say.
"I may not have the best relationship
with my daughter but I care so much
et
about her. She never believes me when I say this but I hope you do and on that note, I want you to take
very good care of her and my
grandchildren."
"Be rest assured that I will. I've started making preparations. I'm not taking them there to suffer. They will enjoy being with me."
"I think I trust you."
"So how is Charles taking the news? Or was he the one that suggested all of these?"
"No, he's just as surprised as everyone. He's fine, he's doing okay. He's probably surfing the inte for hints on how to act as a good grandfather." Beatrice smiled, "He must be so happy. I guess I'll be seeing him soon then. Hopefully for some sort of family gathering."
"You're not coming for the wedding?"
"Has Katherine agreed to it yet?"
"She has no choice."
"If she wants me there then I guess I have no choice but to show up.'
"
"I know you'll probably be busy with your honeymoon but it would be good to have you there. Just let me know which country you will be in, and I'll send the jet to pick you up. You can come with your husband too."
"Yeah about that. My baby will be coming to pick me up shortly. He got done with all he had to do on time and Yeah, we will be going for our
honeymoon tonight."

Beatrice frowned, staring at Ollie intently.
"Where's this conversation going?"
