Letta then stepped out of her room out of boredom. She tried to survey her surroundings, observing several servants cleaning the area.

“Where’s Desi?” Letta asked one of the servants.

“She was behind Madam, watching the employees tidying up the backyard,” the servant replied, prompting Letta to nod.

“The backyard with the high fence?” Letta asked, making the servant nod.

“Alright, then I’ll go there,” Letta said, causing the servant to be slightly startled and stop her mistress.

“Should I fetch Desi for you, Madam?” the servant asked, but Letta shook her head.

“No need, I want to find out myself. What’s happening in that backyard? All I see is overgrown bushes left neglected, so are they clearing it now?” Letta inquired, making the servant nod slightly.

“In that case, should I accompany you, Madam?” the servant asked again, and Letta shook her head.

“No need. I can manage on my own. Besides, you all have a lot of work, don’t you? Just continue with your tasks,” Letta said, making the servant unable to insist on her request. They watched as Letta descended the stairs slowly. Meanwhile, the servant anxiously looked towards her mistress’s departure, catching the attention of a nearby companion who had been eavesdropping on their conversation.

“You let Madam go to the backyard. Didn’t Desi already say that Madam shouldn’t go there or to the back corridor?” the other servant remarked.

“But I couldn’t refuse or offer myself. That would have made Madam suspicious. Let’s just leave it. Desi will surely provide a good reason to answer Madam’s questions if anything seems off,” the servant explained, and they continued with their duties.

While Letta began to explore Marco’s large house, where she had been residing, she halted when her curiosity intensified upon seeing a deliberately closed door. Was it just a storage room? Letta wondered, as if the room was pulling her to approach, but she shook her head. Currently, she had to meet Desi to inquire about any updates from Marco. Letta headed straight to the backyard, where she saw some workers clearing the overgrown bushes. She smiled upon seeing Desi’s back, half supervising them.

“Desi,” Letta called, making Desi slightly startled. She then hurriedly approached.

“What is Madam doing here? If there’s a need, Madam can instruct a servant to call me, right?” Desi said, causing Letta to shake her head while smiling.

“Earlier, I met the servants upstairs, but I specifically told them not to accompany me. I also need to walk around because I’ve been bored staying in the room all this time,” Letta said, causing Desi to approach again.

“In that case, should we leave from here now? I’m afraid Madam might not be comfortable in this backyard. Besides, the garden is being cleaned,” Desi suggested, ready to take Letta away. However, Letta shook her head.

“No, I want to see their work too. And that high fence seems new,” Letta said, making Desi look towards the tall fence surrounding the backyard.

“True, isn’t it?” Letta asked when Desi didn’t respond.

“No, Madam. The fence has been there for a long time, perhaps because you rarely come to this garden, so you didn’t know,” Desi replied, causing Letta to furrow her brow.

“But isn’t our house still behind that wall? Why doesn’t the fence surround the house and instead cuts through the back?” Letta said, looking around. Desi glanced at the high fence, which was built when Letta was declared comatose. The fence didn’t encircle the entire building; instead, it cut through the back part of Marco’s large house, where Letta’s small room used to be, along with the rear section. Marco didn’t want Letta to see the unpleasant memories that originated from the back of their house.

“I don’t know either; maybe the person who designed this house made it like this. Moreover, behind there are only tall, lush trees; there’s no attractive view,” Desi said, making Letta nod.

“Then, what are your plans for this empty land? Wouldn’t it be nice to plant trees instead of letting the overgrown bushes take over?” Letta asked because this backyard was different from other gardens surrounding Marco’s large house. This garden seemed neglected, with dry grass and, during the rainy season, it transformed into lush, tall grass.

“That’s why I’m cleaning it. I wanted to ask Madam if she might want to plant trees or flowers here,” Desi replied, trying to think on her feet so that Letta wouldn’t become suspicious. In reality, Desi instructed to clean it so that Letta wouldn’t suspect that the garden was left untouched by Marco.

“That’s a good idea. How about we plant some fruit trees? After all, there are already plenty of flower plants; we just need a few fruit trees,” Letta suggested, making Desi nod.

“All right, then I’ll prepare this area for fruit trees. It seems like a great idea to make use of the available land, doesn’t it?” Desi said, and Letta nodded in agreement.

“Oh, by the way, why were you looking for me, Madam?” Desi asked.

“I wanted to ask if there’s any news from Marco, if he contacted us?” Letta inquired, making Desi shake her head.

“There hasn’t been any phone call from Master. But why doesn’t Madam contact him instead?” Desi asked, and Letta shook her head.

“No, Desi. I’m afraid Marco might be busy right now. So, let him contact me first because I spent most of the day sleeping in my room. He might be trying to reach me while I was asleep,” Letta explained, causing Desi to nod. Letta then shifted her gaze towards the workers, but for some reason, a fleeting image of what seemed like a forest now crossed Letta’s mind, furrowing her brow.

“Is it really like a forest behind that wall?” Letta asked, making Desi slightly startled.

“A forest? No, Madam. There are just a few trees. It’s like an unkempt area with plants,” Desi said, making Letta furrow her brow again.

“Why not just dismantle this high fence, and we can rebuild it by changing it? We could utilize the land behind this wall, couldn’t we?” Letta suggested.

“That might be possible, Madam. Just tell Master about it, as it might be part of the design you desire,” Desi suggested, and Letta nodded in agreement.

“I think I should talk to Marco when he returns. I miss him,” Letta said, exhaling a long breath, making Desi smile.

“It looks like it’s going to rain. It’s better if we go back inside. The weather is getting cold, and Madam’s clothing might make her catch a cold,” Desi suggested, and Letta looked up.This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

“Yes, okay. Oh, I also want to ask something. Can I see the storage room at the back of this building?” Letta asked, making Desi start thinking about why Letta was curious about the rooms that Marco prohibited from being visited.

“For what purpose, Madam?” Desi asked, and Letta shrugged.

“No, I just want to see what items Marco considers useless. Who knows, I might be able to use them, or maybe there’s hidden treasure Marco has stashed away, right?” Letta joked, making Desi smile with a hint of awkwardness, fearing that Letta might insist on going to that place.
