The unwanted wife’s unexpected comeback

Chapter 30

Chapter 30:

? ? ? ? ?

Gerry could smell fresh gossip in the air. “Are you two together?” I have asked directly.

Before Alicia could answer, Caden snatched the phone out of her hand and told Gerry, “I’ll bring it over in a little while.”

Gerry dropped his playful tone. “Today’s incident has caused quite a stir. Alicia’s face has been exposed on camera. Be careful and make sure she isn’t targeted by Lilliana’s obsessive fans.”

“Understood,” Caden replied, hanging up and handing the phone back to Alicia.

She stood still, staring at him, not moving.

Caden, who had been moving to open the door, stopped when he noticed her reluctance. He furrowed his eyebrows. “What's wrong?”

“Gerry warned me to be careful around Lilliana’s admirers,” Alicia said, her voice tense. “You're Lilliana's boss. Shouldn’t I be more careful around you?”

She was already on guard against him. “How come you're here all of a sudden? Have you come to silence me?”

Caden blinked, remaining silent for a few seconds before replying coldly, “That's right. “I’m going to take you to a remote place, do whatever I want with you, kill you, and dispose of your body.”

Alice took a sharp breath. Clicking her tongue, she decided to stop arguing with him.

They had to leave immediately. If Lilliana's fans showed up, they would be in serious trouble.

The celebrity team was no joke. They were trained professionals, serious about their business. Lilliana had fled the scene, completely unharmed.

By then, there were few people left.

Caden hurriedly guided Alicia towards the underground parking lot.

Alice thought they were safe, but her relief was premature. When the elevator doors opened, they saw a small crowd of seedy-looking individuals just a few feet away.

The group turned toward the sound of the elevator, and when they saw Caden and Alicia, one of them shouted, “It’s her!”

Alice froze. She hadn't expected trouble to find them so quickly. Taking a deep breath, she braced herself.

The man leading the group lunged at her, his expression fierce. “You bitch! “How dare you plot against Lilliana.”

Alicia grabbed Caden's hand, pulling him back. “Get behind me!”

Caden looked at her for a couple of seconds, then took off his jacket and rolled up his shirt sleeves. “This is the perfect time for a man to step up and prove his worth.”

But just as she was about to act, Alice raised her leg and delivered a solid kick to the man lunging at her. She screamed in pain, clutching her chest as she staggered backwards.

Caden stood there speechless, his mouth forming a small 'O'. He slowly pulled his sleeves down to his wrists.

But once the first man was down, the others pounced on him. Several lunged at Alicia in unison. It was Caden's turn to push her back, delivering a swift roundhouse kick to the first man who approached. The difference in strength between him and the attackers was obvious.

Alice had used all the strength she was capable of, but only managed to knock her opponent down.

Caden, however, knocked his attacker into the air, knocking down some of his teammates in the process.

“If you want to hurt a man,” Caden said calmly, “you aim for the spots where it hurts the most. Kick him in the groin, his head, his shins.”

Alice's eyes lit up. "Understood."

As another man lunged at her, Alicia stepped forward and kicked him in the groin.

He immediately fell to the ground, clutching his groin and groaning in pain. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

It was a resounding blow, Caden had to admit. But… he felt a certain tightness in his lower abdomen as he watched the man protect himself.

Alice turned to him, smiling. “How was that? I’m a quick learner, aren’t I?”

At that moment, all Caden could think about was how beautiful his eyes were.

I have felt an inexplicable urge to laugh. “Well done.”

The attackers were few, and within minutes, Caden and Alicia had dispatched them.

When they finally retreated, the men were cleaning or shaking, keeping a respectful distance and no longer daring to approach Caden and Alicia.

Caden dusted off his hands and walked Alicia to her car. She buckled her seatbelt and craned her neck to look in the side mirror. Lilliana's crazed fans were still milling around, unsure of what to do next.

The men continued to rumble and make phone calls, casting sharp glances toward Caden's car. Alicia's expression turned grim. “They don't seem like Lilliana fans,” she noted. “They seem more like people hired to deliberately cause trouble.”

Caden glanced at the men in the rearview mirror. “Perfect, then,” he said coldly. “Consider it free practice for fools like you.”

Alice glared at him, her eyes narrowing in disapproval.

An insufferable man.

He took out his phone and dialed 911.

“What are you doing?” Caden asked.

"I'm calling the police."

Whether or not these men were actually fans of Lilliana, Alicia was confident that the authorities would deal with it properly. Lilliana was still embroiled in the lip-sync scandal, and this little altercation might serve as a warning to her.

You don't play with the law.

"Those thugs are all beaten up," Caden said. "Who do you think the police will arrest when they see the state those men are in?"

Alice's brow furrowed even further. "But we can't let this go."

“What more do you want?” I have replied. “One of them is already unconscious. “You have probably rendered him impotent for life.”

Alice calmed down a little. “I didn't kick him that hard.”

“His actions may have been premeditated,” Caden said slowly, “but we fought back. At the very least, the police will probably consider this a public brawl.”

And even if it were considered self-defense, they would not get away with it. At best, they would be fined. At worst, they would be arrested.

In any case, they would lose.

Alicia thought about it carefully and realized that it made sense. She locked the screen and put the phone away. Reflecting on Caden's actions earlier, a strange feeling bubbled up in his chest. She turned in her seat to look at him.

They had just left the parking lot and passed under the shade of a large tree.

Sunlight streamed through the window, bathing Caden's well-defined features in a warm glow. The sun shone in their deep-set eyes, making them look inviting, as if they were pools that lured an unsuspecting onlooker to drown in their depths.

Alice continued to stare at his face, stunned.

Suddenly, Caden turned to look at her.

"You really like me, huh?"

Alice's lips twitched, but she quickly looked away, focusing on the scenery outside. She kept looking around as if searching for something.

Caden stopped in front of a restaurant and turned off the engine.

“What are you looking for?” I have asked.

Alice's tone was sharp. "I'm looking for your dignity, as you seem to have lost it somewhere."
