The Substitute Bride: Idiot Or Not?

Chapter 26

Inside a VIP ward at the hospital, Zyon was playing around with his beautiful personal nurse.

"Open your mouth, Mr. Fairchild. Open up. It's time for your medicine," the nurse uttered playfully.

"Say, don't you think your way of feeding me the medicine is a little too unprofessional, sexy? You shouldn't be using your hands. Instead, you should use " As Zyon spoke, he lifted the nurse's chin.

His sentence was interrupted by a loud banging sound of the door opening. Two men in black suits and sunglasses stood at the entrance.

Upon seeing that, Zyon questioned in shock, "Who are you people? Why are you here?"

Before the men in black had the chance to answer, a tall, regal man stepped into the room.

"Xavier?" After that violent beating last time, Zyon would shake uncontrollably whenever he saw Xavier. "Why are you here?"

Xavier glanced at Zyon but didn't bother to acknowledge him.

The former undid a button on his suit and sat on the couch next to the bed.

The longer he stayed silent, the more fearful Zyon became.

Due to his cast, Zyon couldn't move his right hand easily, so he urged the nurse. "What are you staring for? Call the police quickly!" "Okay!" She was shocked by the sudden development too and pulled out her phone from her bag.

Before she could unlock her phone, she was held down on the spot next to Xavier's foot.

The man was so intimidating that just sitting beside her silently terrified her. "I-I-I don't know anything. Please let me go."

Ever since Xavier left Lagune Mansion, he had been feeling unstable. Currently, he still had enough patience to deal with the woman.

"Scram," he spat coldly.

The moment she left, his patience was gone.

When the two bodyguards shut the door, he slowly stood, removed his watch, and unfastened his cufflinks.

Zyon's bones were already groaning in pain when he saw Xavier was preparing to beat him up. "W-What are you doing, Xavier? I've been staying in the hospital recently. I didn't do anything!"

"Hah," Xavier sneered and stepped closer to the bed. "Are you taking me for a fool just because Scarface escaped without leaving any traces behind? I'm not as stupid as you think!"

He stretched his hand and tightened his grip on Zyon's neck. "You may not be able to step out of your bed because of your broken bones, but that doesn't mean you can't use your mouth to order other people to do your dirty work. You have some guts to keep messing with my people. It seems like I need to find a needle to sew your mouth shut."

"N-No, don't do it, Xavier! I have no idea who this Scarface is! I think there's a misunderstanding here, Xavier."

"A misunderstanding?" With an evil smile on his face, Xavier picked up the syringe Zyon was playing with earlier. "Then I guess it's also a misunderstanding that I'm sewing your mouth shut."

Even when he was in peak condition, Zyon was no match for Xavier, much less when he was bedridden. There was nothing he could do to stop Xavier from tormenting him.

Right before Xavier was about to strike, a light cough was heard from behind him. "That's enough, Xavier. We're at a hospital right now. Don't go overboard."

"P-Please save me, Dr. Houghton." The moment Josiah entered the room, Zyon called out to him for help as though he had met his messiah.

However, Xavier's anger was still burning brightly. "Am I? Compared to what he did?"Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

"Xavier!" Josiah grabbed the syringe away. "Your two bodyguards caused so much commotion that even people from the neighboring room were checking out what was going on. There's a reporter inside there. Can you at least show me some respect in my own hospital? If you poke holes in his mouth with the syringe, it won't be a good look for me."

"Oh?" The edges of Xavier's lips curved upward slowly. "How about this? As long as there aren't any injuries on his face, it's fine, right?"

As he spoke, he stepped on Zyon's rib, which hadn't recovered yet. "It has nothing to do with your hospital if it's simply a case of his injuries acting up again, right?"

Josiah pushed his golden-framed glasses up, shrugged, and took two steps back. “As long as you're happy."

In the next second, Zyon screamed even louder as Xavier stepped on him harder.

Josiah didn't do anything. Thank goodness the VIP ward is soundproof after closing the door.

After teaching Zyon a lesson, Xavier used the bedsheet to wipe his leather shoe without lifting his eyes. "I'll warn you for the last time. Winnie may be mentally challenged, but she's still my wife. Touch her again, and I'll make you beg for death."

A few minutes passed. Inside Josiah's office, Xavier was loosening his tie in annoyance.

Even though he had personally taken care of Zyon earlier, he was still pissed off.

Josiah asked his assistant to serve Xavier a cup of coffee upon seeing how the latter was acting. "Come, drink some coffee to calm yourself down. Based on how you're acting, I'd say that woman has become your untouchable bottom line. So tell me, what happened?"

The cup of coffee was emptied by Xavier in one go. Then, with an irritated voice, he said, "I actually got jealous of the two pictures she brought with her. It's not just the simple matter of my primitive brain wanting her body anymore. Nevertheless, she's just an idiot. A simple-minded idiot who sees me as a brother."

"That's..." Josiah sighed. "I'm still going to bring up the suggestion from last time. I really do think you should give it serious consideration, Xavier. You have to try it, even if it means you need to find a substitute who looks like Yulissa. Otherwise, you'll be the one hurting Dumbo in the end."

Xavier rubbed his eyebrows, closed his eyes, and gave it a long thought. Then he nodded.

Suddenly, a commotion was heard outside of the door.

"Who's outside?" Xavier promptly opened his eyes.

"No one. There's no need to panic." Josiah pointed at the printer outside. "There's a small issue with the machine. Every few hours, it'll make a sound. I think it's time for me to ask someone to replace it." Nothing seemed out of place to Josiah, and Xavier believed his best friend's words.

Outside of the office, Josiah's assistant, who delivered coffee into the room not too long ago, left sneakily.

Her destination wasn't the pantry, but Zyon's ward.

She told him everything she had heard. "That's all I heard from the conversation between Mr. Fairchild and Dr. Houghton."

Zyon furrowed his eyebrows. "Are you sure you heard Yulissa's name?"

"I'm certain! Dr. Houghton mentioned it a couple of times. I'm pretty sure I didn't hear it wrong."

"Very well. If Xavier comes by again, you must keep a close eye on him. Don't worry, I'll reward you for your effort."

After the assistant left, the door to the restroom was opened by a woman.
