The Rejected Luna: Daddy, Where is Mommy?

11

Nathan was looking at the sleeping figure of Ethlyn and recalling her betrayal. At first, he was mad at her for doing this to him, but in all these years, he felt that Ethlyn had lost a lot more things than anyone could. First, her Luna’s position; second, her pack; third, her respect; fourth, her twin’s pups; and then fifth, her wolf. He couldn’t help but feel pity for her.

He sat beside her and spoke, “Wake up, Ethlyn. You’re sleeping like Aurora even after waking from Coma.”

“What are you doing here?” He heard Reva asking him angrily.

“I learned from your father that she is out of the Coma. That’s why I thought to check on her.” Nathan replied while Reva kept glaring at him. “Stop giving me that look, Reva. It’s not that your sister is in this condition because of me.”

“Only if you wouldn’t have kicked her out of the pack.” Reva snared.

“I had sent the search team for her when I realized that I shouldn’t have done that to her; I mean, at least not in her pregnancy state when she couldn’t shift and could easily become anyone’s victim.”

Reva wanted to open her mouth and blame him for sending the search team hours late, but then she kept her mouth shut because she knew it was easy to blame than to stand in that person’s shoes and understand his shoes. That was the reason her parents were not mad at Nathan.

Both families were close, that’s why her parents considered him as their son, and she considered Nathan a big brother until he put her father in a cell and kicked her sister out. That was a different thing that he tried to undo everything that he did after he calmed down but… but the damage had already been done.

Nathan recalled how he fumed in anger and ran all across the forest in his wolf in the rain.

He ran for god knows how long in the rain, his wolf howled in pain, and finally, he got tired from running. Because of his thick fur, he wasn’t feeling cold even after staying in the rain for that long. That was when the realization hit like a train, reminding him what if she wouldn’t have reached her lover’s place?

What if she would be still in the rain?

He immediately mind-linked his Beta to send a search team for Ethlyn in the range of the next fifteen-twenty kilometers.

Because of heavy rain, the scent of Ethlyn and her footmarks were hard to find, but they sensed that she had fallen from the mountain. It took a couple of days to find Ethlyn’s body which was heavily injured, and she was barely breathing.

FLASHBACK

“Doctor, how’s Ethlyn?” Christian, who was released from the cell on the same night, asked the pack doctor.

“One of her pups is dead. Everyone thought she was pregnant with only one pup, but another one was hidden behind the first one, and sadly, the boy is no more,” She responded, to which Christian gasped, and Abigail, Ethlyn’s mother, ignored that part. She was more worried for her daughter than the pup, who was the reason because of why Ethlyn was in this state.

“And the condition of the other pup, i. e., the girl, is not great as well because of pre-matured delivery. She is not able to breathe on her own.” The doctor told them about the other pup.

“I’m here to know about my daughter’s health. Not about the pups whose mere existence is a curse for my daughter.” Abigail said in irritation. Christian glared at her.Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Okay. Ethlyn’s condition is not great itself. Her head is badly injured, and the worst part is that her wolf is not able to heal her, nor can we sense her.” The doctor responded. “I’m not sure, but I think her wolf sacrificed her life to save one of her pups.”

“No!!” Abigail gasped, placing her hand on her mouth and shaking her head, not able to believe that his daughter’s wolf sacrificed her wolf to save someone who had no existence in anyone’s life. Hell, she would never look at that brat’s face for this.

“By then, she can recover at normal speed?” Christian asked.

“To be honest, I don’t know the answer to your question because she needs treatment from a neurologist, not some normal doctor like us.”

Christian nodded his head, not knowing what to say about that part. A part of negative him was saying that his daughter couldn’t leave the bed ever in her life because rarely any werewolves think of becoming neurologists by studying for hours instead of doing something else.

A week had passed since that day, and there was a change in the health of Ethlyn, while her daughter had started showing positive responses by staying under observation at the hospital.

“Did you hear that?” Abigail asked, entering the room while Ethlyn was sleeping in her deep sleep.

“What is it, Abby?”

“The doctor just informed me that I can take my granddaughter home in a day or two.” Abigail fumed in anger. “I’m telling this, Christ. I’m not taking that curse to my home who ate my daughter’s happiness, and when she was not done with it, she ate her brother as well.”

“What kind of language is this, Abby? What is her mistake in all this thing?” Christian asked in disbelief. “Just like you’re worried for your pup being a mother. It was Ethlyn and her wolf’s choice to keep their pup as a priority before them.” Christian explained.

“I don’t care whether there’s her fault or not, but it’s final that I’m not keeping her. She will remind me of my daughter’s miserable state. That’s why I have found a way to get rid of her.”

“Get rid of her?” Christian asked in shock.
