The Great Medical Saint

Chapter 238

Their conversation attracted the attention of the old men playing chess. Even the children playing on their skateboards paused to look at Matthew talking with the man. It was almost as if this was a miracle.

The man sensed this and looked at Matthew, saying, "Tell me, who is the fool here for bringing me along for food? You, or me?"

The man was acting weirdly. Matthew said crossly, "Well, I'm no fool."

The man scoffed. "I'm no fool either because there's a fool paying for my food."

He had imitated Matthew's tone. It was simply aggravating. Matthew rubbed his nose. This guy had probably resorted to digging through the trash for food because of his mouth.

They left the front yard, and Matthew walked toward a nearby pasta shop. However, the man stopped him by saying, "I won't eat from here. It tastes horrible."

Matthew believed that taking someone out to eat meant catering to their tastes, so he didn't argue with him. "Lead the way then."

The man quickened his footsteps and brought Matthew to another pasta shop. He walked right in and said, "I'll have an Alfredo pasta with three servings of bacon, thank you very much. Three servings of bacon, ya hear that?" The owner looked at Matthew as if he were an alien. He ordered his employees to cook the food.

The man sat down and asked, "Aren't you gonna eat anything?"

Matthew shook his head. "I've already eaten."

The food was quickly served. There was more bacon than pasta in it. It looked like there were just a few strands of pasta swirled in the cubes of meat. Matthew drooled. "How much is that?"

The owner smiled. "55 dollars."

55 dollars? Matthew looked at the prices on the wall. "Isn't the pasta only 10 dollars?"

The owner nodded, smiling. "The pasta is 10 dollars. One serving of bacon is 15. Three servings of bacon makes 45."

Matthew looked at the bacon on the man's plate. It actually seemed like a reasonable price. He paid for it and waited for the man to finish eating.

The man glanced at Matthew as if surprised by his attitude, but it was just a glance. He began tucking in. He was slow and graceful in his movements, making nearly no sound at all.

Matthew was surprised to see that. He was a fast eater. Sometimes, his mother would smack his hands for eating too quickly. She said he ate like a wolf. After eating, the man rinsed his mouth out with some water in a disposable cup. Then, he said, "I'm full now. Who do you want to meet? I'll take you there." Matthew smiled and said, "Sawyer Solomon."

The man was stunned. Then, he got up. "I know where his house is. Follow me." With that, he began leading the way.

Michael saw the odd expression on his face and had an uneasy feeling.novelbin

The successors from the Frostbloom Sect and the Medieval Sect had all run into trouble. It seemed like something sinister was waiting in the Gugleni Sect too.

He followed the man to the buildings at the back of the village. They were all old, and the walls were full of spider-web-like cracks.

The stairs were narrow. The man went up, and Matthew followed. They stopped at the third floor. The man pointed at the rusty main door and said, "That's Sawyer Solomon's house."

Matthew knocked on the door several times, but no one opened the door. "Why isn't anyone home?"

The man was walking downstairs at this point. When he heard Matthew, he paused and said, "He's dead Of course no one's home." Then he continued walking down.

Matthew followed him quickly. "But he must have descendants. Are his children around?"

The man kept walking downward. "What do you want to see his children for?"
