Still, she turned to leave since she could not argue.

Frank chuckled in turn and carried the chickens as he headed back to the camp with Lara.

Sylvie handily started a fire, heating a pot.

Soon, the aroma of chicken was wafting, and as she stoked the fire, she said, "Thanks for the treat. I'll buy you dinner after the expedition."

Frank nodded. "Then I'm holding you up to that. Don't bail on me now."

"Do I look like that sort of person?"

Sylvie rolled her eyes. "And I like you on top of that. Why would I bail?"

Tigris chuckled. "You're coming on a little strong there, ma'am!"

Sylvie laughed cheerfully in turn. "Why not? It's the twenty-first century. Who's still depending on the man to take the lead?"

Tigris laughed, though he was envious of Frank too.

One could leave aside Linda Yates and the PR ladies' directness—they were cougars by nature, after all.
