Chapter 69: Goodbye, Never Again
“As for Gar, it’s thanks to Tredan Davi, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to find the heart, I wouldn’t have been able to find such a good doctor, and I wouldn’t have been able to pay for over a million dollars of surgery. The code on this card is his birthday and I will be putting money into it later as installments.”
“He wouldn’t care, would he?” Domino said with some uncertainty.
“I have to do what I have to do. I can’t pay back what I already owe, so I have to be frugal.” Octavia Gills sounded a little soporific.
“Octavia, you’re still in love with him, aren’t you?” Domino asked carefully.
Octavia Gills forgot about the window, the sky, cloudy and ready to rain, just as she was feeling at the moment.
“Does it matter? They’re getting married, does it matter if I love him or not?”
Domino was dumbfounded.
“Domino, you and Woodrow are good, and when you get married, I’m going to be your bridesmaid.” Octavia Gills didn’t want to continue the conversation.
“He’s still on an expedition!” Domino stiffened his mouth.
“You’re almost there, what else do you want? I’m telling you, if you miss the boat, you’ll never get a chance again.” Octavia Gills teased her.
“Gee whiz, who am I to be afraid of missing the boat?” Domino said boldly.
It had been a long time since the two sisters had had such a rambling chat just like they were back in the old days.
Domino promised Octavia Gills that he would give the envelope to Tredan Davi when she left.
But she was torn, always feeling that Octavia Gills and Tredan Davi shouldn’t have ended up like this, that it shouldn’t have ended like this. But Octavia is also right, Tredan Davi is already getting married and he has been ignoring Octavia all this time.
Domino’s fidgeting is noticed by Woodrow, who inevitably pursues the matter.
Domino sighed and told Woodrow what had happened.
Woodrow was alarmed and immediately called Tredan Davi.
But Tredan Davi’s phone seemed to be off the hook.
Woodrow flew to Group Davi but Tredan was also not in the office, and the secretary said he had gone with Ms. Lilian, without indicating where they went.
Woodrow went to the old Davi Family house, then to the Davi Family mansion, and to all the entertainment venues they frequented, but could not find Tredan Davi.
Woodrow couldn’t reach him by phone, so he left a Facebook message, “Octavia Gills has a 10 am flight to Japan tomorrow and won’t be returning.”
At this time, Tredan Davi, together with Lilian Drye, was accompanying a client on a trip to the countryside at Bayswater Lodge. There was no signal in the mountains to preserve the rare moments of peace, and both parties were pleased to be able to talk business while touring the mountains.
The nights are spent in farmhouses in the mountains.
Lilian Drye has been looking for a chance to have a double date with Tredan Davi, but Tredan Davi has always avoided it, much to Lilian Drye’s annoyance, but, in any case, Tredan Davi is now with her every day.
Thinking of what her father said to her the night before the engagement, “Lilian, you should remember that Tredan Davi did not willingly get engaged to you. Daddy tricked him to force him to agree, and now Daddy is not sure if I made the right move and whether it is good or bad for you. That’s all Dad can do for you, it’s up to you to make him fall in love with you and make him willing to marry you.”
Lilian Drye looked at the rolling hills in front of her and made up her mind. She had never failed in anything she had done since she was a child, and she would never fail in a relationship, that Tredan Davi had been hers 20 years ago, and that no matter how far he had gone, he would come back to her in the end. He will be ground into powder!
At this business event, she used her strength to make Tredan Davi focus on her, and in front of her clients, she did not act the least bit like a princess and could soften any difficult client.
Take your time, Tredan Davi, I, Lilian Drye, am the only choice you will ever have in this life.
Early the next morning, the group drove back to the city.
Once out of the mountains, mobile phone communication returned to normal.
Tredan Davi was surprised to find over seventy missed calls on his phone, all from Woodrow, and wondered what could have happened to warrant so many calls from him.
When he opened Facebook and saw Woodrow’s message, he was instantly alarmed.
Airport.
Octavia Gills disliked the scene of separation and insisted that Eldwin, her mother, and brother not to go with her to the airport to see her off.
In the end, Domino and Woodrow sent her off.
Woodrow drove slowly and distractedly all morning, and was even more distracted at the airport, checking his watch frequently while being nagged by Domino many times.
Domino and Octavia Gills bid a fond farewell to each other.
An announcement urged the passengers to start board and Octavia Gills headed for the gates.
Woodrow stammered in anxiety, “Octavia Gills, Octavia Gills, you, you, that, take it easy, talk a bit more, talk a bit more.”
Domino gave him an odd look.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Octavia Gills looked at Woodrow and suddenly understood what was on his mind and smiled faintly and said, “Woodrow, do you know the Ten Commandments song?”
Woodrow froze and said, “I don’t know.”
“I understand what you have in mind and I don’t have to wait.”
Octavia Gills hugged Domino, turned toward the gate, and walked away without looking back.
Goodbye, Tredan, never again!
Woodrow sighed helplessly.
“You’re waiting for Tredan Davi aren’t you?” Domino told him at last.
“I’ve been looking for him since yesterday when I found out about the news, but I can’t find him, I can’t get in touch with him.” Woodrow shook his head and sighed as he and Domino headed out of the airport.
A dark figure came straight at him and Woodrow instinctively swept Domino aside.
Tredan Davi had come through red lights, speeding and flying, standing still and looking at the flight information on the screen, he had no idea which flight Octavia Gills was on, how was he going to find it?
Turning back to look in the lounge area, he saw Domino and Woodrow standing there, with Woodrow looking anxious.
Domino’s eyes flashed and he looked away.
Tredan Davi looked disheveled.
Domino took the envelope out of his bag, “Octavia asked me to give this to you.”
Tredan Davi was surprised that Octavia Gills had still left him a message. When he opened the envelope, it contained a bank card and an IOU in Octavia Gills’ handwriting.
“Octavia said that the code for the card was your birthday.”
Tredan Davi couldn’t tell how he felt about the card and the note. This meant that Octavia Gills will still keep in touch with him from a place he couldn’t be at and that she will settle her account bit by bit, and the day it was paid off would be the day they would never meet again, right?
Woodrow came over and patted him on the shoulder, “Tredan, come on, let’s go.”
As each of them went to collect their cars, Woodrow suddenly remembered, “Tredan, do you know the Ten Commandments song that Octavia Gills asked me about when she left?”
Tredan Davi kept his pace and walked straight away.
Sitting in his car, Tredan Davi crouched over the steering wheel, tears streaming down his face. Of course, he knew the Ten Commandments song.
First, it is better not to see each other, so that we may not fall in love.
Second, it is better not to know each other, so that we may not think of each other.
Third, it is better not to be with each other, so that we may not be indebted to each other.
Fourth, it is better not to cherish each other, so that we may not remember each other.
Fifth, it is better not to love each other, so that we may not abandon each other.
Sixth, it is better not to face each other, so that we may not meet.
Seventh, it is better not to miss each other, so that we may not lose each other.
Eighth, the best thing is not to promise each other, so that we may not continue.
Ninth, it is better not to cling to each other, so that we may not cling to each other.
Tenth, is better not to meet, so that we may not meet.
But if we see each other, we will recognize each other, and it is better to see each other than not to see each other.
I am not going to part with you, but I am going to live and die thinking about you.
Only now does he realize how deeply he hurt Octavia Gills, how he thought he was doing everything for her benefit, how he was planning to give her a secure future, not realizing that all the lies he had set up were real in her eyes and that the ‘truth’ had left her bruised and battered.
Time Bar.
Tredan Davi, who was already drunk, mumbled, “I’ll never see you again, I’ll never see you again, Octavia, you’re so cruel!”
The ‘Octavia’ drew the attention of a man in another corner who was also drinking alone.
Eddison finds out that Woodrow has been looking for Tredan Davi like crazy since yesterday and got suspicious. On a whim, he goes to Elda Bistro in the morning and learned that Octavia Gills was leaving for Japan today.
Octavia Gills didn’t even tell him and left without even saying goodbye. Eddison was so hurt and wounded that the only way to make his heart numb and not hurt so much was to drink.
Instead, he ran into his older brother who had also come to drink.
Hearing him shout Octavia Gills’ name at the top of his lungs irritated Eddison. Growing up, he had been taught by his parents to give in to his brother in everything, so why should he? Everything else was fine, but for Octavia Gills, no.
With a sudden flash of inspiration, Eddison picked up the phone, “Ms. Lilian, you’re still on your break, right?” Eddison grinned cheekily.
Lilian Drye asked impatiently, “What do you want from me?”
“Lilian, how dare you speak to your big brother with that tone? Why do you all put him at the top of your hearts? On what basis? What’s so great about him?” Eddison’s tone irked Lilian Drye.
“What the hell do you want? I’ve nothing to say to you! I’m hanging up!” Lilian Drye said coldly.
Eddison said lazily with drunkenness, “Seeing as we are both so useless and unproductive, let me tell you something, my big brother is drunk and at the Time Bar, you should go here and pick him up now. Who knows, you might be able to turn it into a date.”
Lilian Drye was about to yell, “You’re useless! You’re useless!” When she heard the second half of the sentence, it immediately lifted her spirits, “I’ll be right there.”
By the time Lilian Drye arrived at the bar, Tredan Davi was too drunk for his good, and Eddison’s mouth was wide open.
When he saw Lilian Drye, he immediately smiled and pointed to where Tredan Davi was, “Don’t say I’m not nice enough, that’s all I can do for you, you can figure out the rest.”
Lilian Drye, of course, understood what he meant and smiled smugly, “Don’t worry, I’ll take that as a favor.”
Lilian Drye took a taxi to take a drunken Tredan Davi back to the Davi Family home. She hadn’t set foot in that house since her engagement because Tredan Davi wouldn’t let her.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
She helped Tredan Davi sit on the sofa. She was tired and thirsty and tried to stand up to pour herself a glass of water.
Instead, Tredan Davi swept her up and murmured, “Octavia, don’t go, don’t leave me behind.”
Lilian Drye pushed him away violently and reached out to slap him.
Tredan Davi’s face showed swollen, red marks in the light, his eyes tightly closed, his long lashes fluttering, and Lilian Drye couldn’t help but stare in awe. She gently caressed his face with her hand while Tredan Davi obediently rubbed his face against her palm, “Don’t leave me behind, don’t go.”
Lilian Drye made her heart skip a beat.
Having used all her strength to undress Tredan Davi and tuck him under the covers, Lilian Drye was exhausted but satisfied at the sight of a drowsy Tredan Davi. She went to take a shower, got under the covers, posed, and took a few pictures.
Sleep contentedly.
The early morning sun shone through the gauzy curtains.
Tredan Davi was thirsty and got up to get a drink of water. He had a splitting headache and looked at his room for a moment, with no recollection of how he had gotten back last night.
A snowy white arm wrapped around him and lazily murmured, “Tredan.”
This unfamiliar sensation startled Tredan Davi and he pushed her away.
Lilian Drye rubbed his eyes and snapped, “What’s wrong?”
“You, what are you doing here?” There was an imperceptible tremor in Tredan Davi’s voice.
Lilian Drye blinked and looked innocent. “Last night you drank too much and called me to pick you up?? ah??. When I came back, you wouldn’t let me go, you had to… have… it” Lilian Drye’s face blushed.
