THE CEO WHO SAVED ME by Becca

CHAPTER TWO

Damian martins continued walking in front of his assistant, Rubby. He is a thirty year old business tycoon, the richest and the most feared man of California and its environs. His businesses were scattered all over the American continent and beyond. He is the king of the business world which no man can reach and he was blessed with a face and a body people could only dream off.

"Boss, it's already getting late. We should get going" Rubby, his assistant whined as they continued to comb through the bushes. Damian had suggested he wanted to go hunting and here they were, with Rubby holding all the hunting gear. "You talk too much Rubby, seems like I pay you more than you deserve" Damian replied, he was a man of few words and was already getting pissed with Rubby for making too much noise.

"Am sorry boss, it's just that the woods is not suitable at night and it's already very late" he could see the night sky already setting up in the sky and if anything happened to Damian, then he was done for. "You can leave if you feel like it". Saying that, Damian grabbed a short gun from his hand and moved forward.

His love for hunting was something he could not really fathom. All the stress and of his work goes away the moment he enters the bush to hunt. He wasn't really interested in hunting any animal, but just the thoughts of it made him Happy. This was how he has lived his life all these years, making money and hunting without any care of the world. Everyone is scared of him because of how ruthless he can get. He never lets his enemies go unscathed and a lot of rumors were going on about him but he is less concerned about that.

Left with no other option, Rubby continued to follow him deep into the bush when they both stopped. A few meters away, they was a whitish thing on the ground.

"What is that boss?, is it the goddess of the woods? He asked in fear. This was his only weakness, the fear of things that are yet to happen but he was very capable and that is why he could be by Damian's side all these years.

"Keep shut Rubby" he growled and moved forward. He wanted to know what it was that scared Rubby like that. He moved closer and noticed it was a battered body of a girl covered in bruises and her clothes were badly stained. "It's a person's boss, is she dead?" His assistant asked, moving closer to the body to confirm.

Damian moved a little close and felt her pulse.

"She seems to be alive but with a very slim chance, get the car Rubby" he instructed and Rubby quickly ran off to get the car. Trying to make things a little faster, he gathered her fragile body in his hands and began to move to the same direction Rubby had gone. He could see blood continuously gushing out of the wound on her stomach, and he knew she may or may not make it but he still wanted to give it a try.

Few minutes later, he met Rubby half way and he quickly boarded the car.

" Boss, we are far from the city, where should we go?" He asked in panic.

"There is a clinic nearby Rubby, lets take her there for now" he replied and Rubby sped off, he was also wondering what the girl was doing under the cliff.

"Are you a snail Rubby?,step on it" he ordered impatiently because, to him, it was taking forever to reach the clinic. He pulled his shirt and used it to apply pressure to the wound on her stomach, temporarily stopping the bleeding but he knew it wouldn't help, she needed a doctor.

"We are here boss" Rubby said, cutting into his train of thoughts.

"Go in and get the stretcher" he ordered even when he knew he was going to take her inside himself. He quickly gathered her in his arms and made his way into the clinic. Some onlookers were surprised why the almighty Damian Martins was carrying a girl who is almost dead if not dead and running into the clinic while the clinic was in chaos as more than six persons struggled to get the stretcher to him. He is something they wouldn't dare to go against.

"Prepare for surgery"the leading doctor said immediately they wheeled her inside.

"What happened?" He asked Rubby and Damian simultaneously.

"We found her like that in the woods," Rubby replied.

"She seems to be in a critical condition" the doctor said, looking at Damian, waiting for him to say something.

"Do everything you can to save her" Damian growled impatiently and the doctor went ahead to start his work. It was a matter of life and death and even if it was a small clinic, he wanted to prove to Damian that he was up to the task. "Boss" Rubby called, he didn't know whether to say it or not.

"What" Damian snapped. He is already having a headache and it seems his assistant won't leave him alone.

"You are only wearing your vest boss" he replied and looked down, he couldn't look into his eyes right now.

That was when it dawned on Damian. He used his cloth to apply pressure on her wound, and now the almighty king of the business world is standing in a no name clinic in his vest. He looked around and saw some nurses ogling at him and some even had the guts to be pointing at him, this was not the first time he has caught people red handed admiring him but what could he do in this situation right now. He just turned around and walked out of the clinic and Rubby followed. "Get me a shirt at a nearby boutique and arrange for her transfer immediately" he ordered the moment he entered his car, Rubby knew well not to say anything and quickly rushed to do what he was asked.

He sat there massaging his forehead as he sighed heavily, he had done a lot of things not related to work in one day and he was already getting a headache. His mind drifted back to the girl in the theater and he couldn't help but sigh. "What was she doing and how did she get injured?" He thought deep within himself. When he had carried her in his arms, he could see she was very fragile and looked harmless. Only God knew what happened.

Just then Rubby returned and gave him the shirt, he wore it without any words and continued to look at Rubby, expecting him to say something while Rubby on the other hand was wondering why the big boss was staring at him until it dawned on him.

"Yes boss, I have already contacted the hospital and they are on their way".

Damian didn't reply and just rested his head on the car's headrest, he wanted the operation to be over soon.

Four hours later, a nurse walked towards Rubby and informed him the doctor wanted to see his boss.

Seated in the doctor's office a few minutes later, he was waiting patiently for him to finish looking at the document and talk to him. Damian was not usually a patient person at least not in this no name clinic but he he was, sitting so calmly. "Sorry for the delay sir" the doctor finally said after a few minutes and smiled at him.

"How is she?" He asked in a cold voice, ignoring his apologies.

"Actually sir,she is badly injured and sustained a lot of internal wounds leading to internal bleeding. The fall was pretty bad and affected her legs, we managed to stop the bleeding but she slipped into a come" the doctor replied sincerely, actually if they had brought her a little later, she would have died but this information, he couldn't share with the already angry man sitting close to him.

"When will she wake up from this coma?" he asked.

"It can take weeks sir, even months and years" the doctor replied.

"But she isn't dead and still has a chance right?"Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

"Yes sir"

"Good, prepare for her discharge, I will have her transferred" saying that, he stood up and left the doctor's office.

He entered the ICU,she was placed under oxygen and luckily she wasn't covered in blood anymore. All he could see was a fragile and innocent looking girl fighting for her life.

"I will help you recover," he muttered under his breath and walked out. He doesn't know why but a part of him suddenly didn't want this fragile girl to die, at least not when he was willing to help her.
