Chapter 171
Chapter 171
Within two rings, a calm and detached female voice came through. “Who is this? “Are you Ms. Morgan? I’m Jimmy, the new butler in Hudson Yards. I accidentally messed up your cosmetics when I was cleaning your room earlier. Mr. Reed said to throw them all away and buy new ones, but I don’t understand the words on the bottles.” Jimmy’s tone was quite aggrieved. Ivy’s cold and stern voice interrupted him before he could finish his sentence. “Don’t throw them away! I’ll go back right now. I’ll kill you if you dare to throw my things!” Wyatt, who was in the study, frowned deeply. He heard the voice outside the door loud and clear. That simple?! Ivy was not short of money or luxury items. Her cosmetics were all high-end formulas. Specially customized according to her skin and cost seven digits. Where would they buy new ones for her? “Those two stupid men!” Ivy forgot that she did not want to go back to Hudson Yards. All she wanted was to rush back and check on her cosmetics. She took her purse and returned to Hudson Yards with Bill. She stopped for a few seconds at the door. The place where Eva bled profusely earlier when she left was spotless. It was as if that episode never happened at all. As long as they did not cause trouble for her, Ivy did not intend to pursue it. After all, Wyatt saved her so many times. The Reeds would not be very happy if she insisted on this. The door suddenly opened. A fat, round man ran out and came up to Ivy while panting heavily. “Ms. Morgan?” His eyes squinted as he smiled. “I’m Jimmy, the new butler. You’re so beautiful! You’re even prettier than those celebrities. Your beauty is in a league of its own and simply beyond description.” Ivy stood there, frozen. A person with perfect manners and courtesy like her did not know how to
act when the fat man praised her out of the blue. Behind her, Bill finally grew impatient. “Are you done?” “Oh my! You must be Ms. Morgan’s bodyguard. You fit the role well; your aura is much stronger than ordinary people’s. I heard that you’d won the national championship several times. Gosh, you’re so amazing.” Bill was speechless. Ivy laughed out loud. “Where did Mr. Reed find a butler like you? You’re also in a league of your own.” Then, Ivy strode inside. Her ears almost fell off from all the compliments e fed her. Ivy saw Wyatt sitting in the living room, looking at documents. His eyes were as cold and calm as always. Hearing the footsteps, Wyatt’s eyebrows twitched slightly. He quietly looked up there. The corners of his lips curled up into a gentle smile. “You’re back?” Ivy frowned. “How could he act as if nothing had happened?” Before she could speak, Wyatt preemptively explained. “The nanny has already been sent away and will never appear in front of you again. As for my mother… I’m really sorry, but she’s my mother after all. The doctor said that she might have some mental illness, so I’ll send her to a sanatorium to recuperate after she gets better. The same thing will never happen again.” His voice was low and apologetic. A hint of tension was under his cold complexion that could not be concealed no matter how hard he tried. That was because Eva was the person who gave birth to him. Wyatt could not drive her out of ethics and morality as he did to others. What he could do was to make sure that Eva would never appear in front of Ivy again. The seconds ticked by. It was just a few seconds, but it felt like a few centuries had passed. Ivy chuckled softly. “You’re very pragmatic, Mr. Reed. Aren’t you going to blame me for speaking out of turn, which in tum provoked her?” Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Wyatt’s lips pulled in self-deprecation. “What you said were facts.” He did not have any reason to blame Ivy. Ivy lowered her eyes and smiled faintly. “Since it’s all in the past. I won’t hold her responsible. Let bygones be bygones.” Wyatt snapped his head up. There seemed to be a dim light flashing in his eyes. He did not expect Ivy to let this go so quickly. Behind them, Jimmy excitedly came forward and clapped his hands. “Oh my! Such a good thing calls for a celebration! I just made some stew that’s delicious and low in calories. Would you like to try some?” Jimmy, Ken’s cousin, was tenacious and refused to give up on the chance to bring these two people together. Wyatt was speechless as he looked at Jimmy with an expressionless face. Bill rolled his eyes, averting his gaze from Jimmy. Ivy’s lips twitched. “Mr. Reed, I see that you’ve altered your hiring criteria, huh?” Wyatt's entourage consisted of the crème de la crème in their respective fields. Jimmy did not appear to be endowed with any advantages. Wyatt’s previous preferences indicated that Jimmy would have been eliminated due to his physique. It was a pleasant surprise when he was hired as Wyatt’s butler. Indeed, the sun rose from the west! Wyatt pursed his lips and prepared an excuse, but Jimmy rose and smiled with curved eyes. “I entered through the back door, Ms. Morgan!” Ivy nodded, clearly intrigued. Who is related? “I’m Ken’s cousin,” Jimmy squirmed, “tell no one about this. Otherwise, individuals will converse. It’s extremely annoying!” Ivy couldn’t stop herself from chuckling. “Okay.” ‘As it turns out, he is Ken’s cousin. I had no idea Wyatt held Ken in such high regard... How surprising!’
Ivy had taken only two steps when she was suddenly reminded of the reason for her return. “My belongings...” “I did not discard them and have replaced them all. You can rest assured, Ms. Morgan!” Ivy sighed in relief. Her expression softened, and she appeared to be in a better mood. Wyatt sat at the dining table, observing Ivy. He chuckled softly. ‘It turns out she is not apathetic toward everything. At the very least, she left the cosmetics she’s concerned about here,’ he thought. Ivy gave him a sneering look. ‘What on earth is he laughing about?’ Although Jimmy was round and fat, he moved very quickly and nimbly. A few small dishes were quickly laid out in front of Ivy. They were uncomplicated, lacked grease, and looked highly appetizing. Ivy sampled everything and devoured the soup. Wyatt’s eyes grew warmer. Even his appetite improved significantly. Jimmy was delighted that his culinary abilities had been recognized. It was definitely worth his effort to obtain a chef’s license. He came dangerously close to bankrupting the restaurant where he completed his apprenticeship by eating all of their high-quality food. While the two monarchs ate, Jimmy began dishing out compliments from the side. “Mr. Reed is truly remarkable. He continues to work despite his illness. This kind of tenacity and determination to succeed is something that we should all learn. Do you believe that, Ms. Morgan?” Ivy, who had been put on the spot, raised her eyes to Wyatt opposite her. “Absolutely, unequivocally, yes.” Wyatt had been in a good mood up to that point but nearly choked on his food when he heard Jimmy’s words. His face darkened unexpectedly. ‘I was on the verge of approving his probation because his cooking ability is quite acceptable, but this guy is really testing my patience!’ “Such a man is exceedingly rare nowadays. Unlike our Mr. Reed, who speaks through his actions, most men simply crack under a little bit of pressure and complain about this and that! He is simply an example for all men!”
Bill’s violent coughing began abruptly in the kitchen. He sounded as if he was about to choke on water. Jimmy rushed in, concerned. “Are you all right, Bill?” “No.” “Then you ought to drink some water.” Jimmy quickly poured a glass of water for Bill, but Bill, fearful of choking again, dared not take another sip. Outside, Ivy smiled teasingly at Wyatt. “You’re a role model, huh? Well–deserved.” Wyatt averted his eyes, humiliated. His body exuded chilling vibes that were impossible to ignore. Ivy smiled, stood, and walked upstairs. ‘This fatty is truly bizarre!’ she exclaimed. “Ms. Morgan, where are you going? I am still not finished! If you’re looking for a man, you should look for someone like Mr. Reed who is attractive, capable, and most importantly, capable of enduring pressure.” “Quiet!” Wyatt’s patience had run out.
