Chapter 20 Meeting
At school, Mia called Alexander during lunch break. "Uncle, what should I do? Allison's getting bullied! I can't find her!" Mia's voice was frantic.
Alexander frowned, just stepping out of a meeting and heading to his office. "What happened?"
Mia quickly filled him in on the past couple of days. "Uncle, they're being so mean. They're badmouthing Allison, and even the teacher's picking on her. It's awful!" Alexander's face darkened. Allison had just gotten out of the hospital and now this.
"Focus on your classes. I'll handle it," Alexander said firmly.
He drove straight to Oceanview Apartments, but Allison wasn't home-only Felicity was there.
Meanwhile, Allison and Cleo were at a bustling restaurant. The place didn't look like much from the outside, but it was packed.
Cleo's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Allison, I love spots like this. The food's gotta be amazing!"
Allison nodded. "This place is a Skycrest staple. It's been here for decades, and the food's always been top-notch."
They found a small table since there were no private rooms available. Allison ordered, and the food came out fast.
After they ate, Cleo leaned in. "Actually, besides wanting to see you, I have another reason for coming."
Allison smiled. "I figured."
Cleo admired Allison's sharp mind. "This is about you. Remember Dr. White?"
Allison nodded. Benjamin White was a leading expert and a respected academician. They'd worked together before, though they'd never met.
"He reached out to Genesis Creations and specifically asked for you. He needs your help on a research project," Cleo explained.
Allison sipped her tea, thinking it over.
Cleo added, "Dr. White mentioned the budget's tight, so he's worried you might not accept."
Allison nodded. "I'll do it. Send me the details."
Cleo beamed and snapped her fingers. "I knew I could count on you, Allison!"
The money wasn't the main draw. Benjamin's project involved groundbreaking tech, which could be huge for Genesis Creations.
Mid-meal, Allison's phone rang. It was Alexander. "Where are you?" he asked.
Allison was surprised. He knew she wasn't at school. Mia must've told him.
"I'm having lunch," she replied.
"Address," Alexander demanded.
"Mr. Carter, we-" Allison started.
"Tell me, or I'll track you down. Your choice," Alexander cut her off.
Allison sighed, hung up, and sent her location. Cleo raised an eyebrow. "Someone looking for you?"
Allison nodded. "I might not be able to show you around."
Cleo shook her head. "Want me to come with you?"
Allison declined, "I can handle it, but thanks."
She didn't want Alexander meeting Cleo. Cleo had no idea that the president of the Carter Group, who was searching for Gaia, was right beside Allison.

Allison nodded and saw Cleo off in a taxi. Just as the car left, Alexander's car pulled up to the restaurant. Alexander stepped out of the car, frowning as he looked at Allison. "Your wound hasn't even healed, and you're out here eating?" he snapped.
Allison stared back at him, wanting to retort but held back, knowing he was just worried about her.
"Get in the car. We're going to the hospital first," Alexander urged.
Allison didn't move. Just then, a crowd of customers exited the restaurant, and some bumped into her. Alexander quickly put his arm around her shoulder, guiding her to the car.
He drove straight to the hospital. Allison wanted to say her wound was fine but knew better than to argue.
At the hospital, Alexander finally saw the scar on her arm, which looked pretty bad.
The doctor checked her over. "The wound's healing well, but you still need to rest and watch your diet. Avoid spicy foods; that's common sense!" The doctor could smell the spicy scent on Allison. "As her uncle, you should take better care of her. If the wound gets red and inflamed, it won't be good! Also, she'll need a skin graft surgery in a month to remove the scar."
Being called "uncle" made Allison pause, and she instinctively looked at Alexander. Seeing Alexander's dark expression, Allison smiled.
Her smile made Alexander's face even darker. Did he look that old? Actually, Alexander was 29, a bit older than Allison. But it still made him uncomfortable, probably because he didn't want to admit he was getting older. Leaving the hospital, Alexander's face was still sour. "I've already found the best plastic surgeon in the country. After your skin graft surgery, there won't be any scars on your arm."
Allison turned to look at him and shook her head. "No need, I can handle it myself."
Alexander wanted to say more, but Allison's phone rang. She glanced at the number and answered.
"Allison, come on. Come home for dinner tonight. You promised me you'd come home on weekends!" Hayden said.

She hadn't told Hayden about her hospitalization, only that she needed to study and catch up on lessons, so she hadn't gone back home. But today, she had to go back no matter what. "I'll be back soon," Allison agreed.
After hanging up, she told the driver, "Please pull over, I need to get out."
The driver instinctively looked at Alexander through the rearview mirror. Without Alexander's approval, he didn't dare to stop.
"I'll take you to the Bennett Villa," Alexander said.
Allison wanted to refuse but knew it was pointless, so she stayed silent.
When the car reached the Bennett Villa, Allison asked the driver to stop. She couldn't let the car go all the way to the front door; if someone saw, who knew what rumors might spread about her.
"I'll get off here. Thanks, Mr. Carter, for bringing me back," she said as she got out of the car. The window rolled down, revealing Alexander's face.
He asked, "Do you need my help with the school situation?"
Allison shook her head. "No, I can handle it myself."novelbin
If possible, Allison wished she would never have to see Alexander again. But with Mia around, that seemed unlikely, which frustrated her.
"Call me when you're done. The driver will take you back to the apartment," Alexander said.
Before Allison could protest, Alexander rolled up the window and left, leaving her bewildered.
As the window rolled up, Yasmin happened to walk by. She saw Allison standing in front of a luxury car, talking to someone inside. From her angle, she could see a man in a suit, but she couldn't make out his face before the window went up. 'Why is Allison here? And who is that man?' Yasmin wondered.
Yasmin's eyes flashed with malice. Allison was indeed restless, yet she always pretended to be so high and mighty.
