“And when the Miami opportunity presented itself, you jumped all over it-no need to confirm. I already know.”

But he was right enough.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
“So?” I inquired.
“So … this is shaping up to be a long-distance thing. The one thing you said you didn’t want. And when I caught you almost rubbing one off, your expression told me everything I’d suspected.”
“Which is?”
“You’re fucking wild about her.” He put his hand up as I attempted to respond. “Whether you want to admit it or not, she’s the one.”
“She’s twenty-two years old, Ford.”
He rolled his eyes, like his fucking daughter. “Not again with the age reminder. We know how old she is. It doesn’t make a difference.”
“You’re wrong.” I shook my head. “I like what she does to my cock. End of story.”
“Yeah, yeah.” He got up and walked to the door. “I don’t know how you became a fucking billionaire, doing law, because you have the worst poker face I’ve ever seen in my life.”
I pointed to the door. “Get out.”
He chuckled as he opened it. “God, it feels good to be right.”
JOANNA
“Giiirl,” Monica sang from the doorway of my room. “My God, you’re even turning me on; you’re so hot. Twirl. I need to see the whole view.”
I laughed at my best friend as I stood in front of the full-length mirror, slowly turning in a circle, giving her every angle of my outfit.
Her outfit.
The one I’d stolen from her when I was searching for something to wear.
“What do you think?” I asked. “Is it enough?”
She fanned her face with her hand, gawking at me. “Enough?” She huffed. “If this doesn’t make Jenner fall to his knees, then there’s something seriously wrong with him.” She came closer, adjusting the shoulders of my sweater, tightening some of the curls that had fallen loose. “He’s going to die.” She shook her head. “I mean … diiie.”
I smiled. “I hope so.”
I faced the mirror, checking out the costume one last time. The short, pleated skirt ended at the top of my thighs, and the matching low-cut sweater vest and plaid tie showed off my belly button. Monica had been the naughty schoolgirl for Halloween, and when I saw this hanging in her closet, the idea sounded perfect, especially since Jenner had said he wouldn’t let me sneak away for class or to do homework.
“I promise you,” she said, “there’s no hope involved when it comes to men and sex.” She grabbed a tube of lip gloss off my dresser and dabbed some over my mouth. “He’s going to open the door to his hotel room and lose his mind. His dick’ll be so hard that he probably won’t even be able to talk.”
“Oh my God.”
“What? It’s true.” She pulled out her phone from her back pocket and checked the time. “Are you still meeting him in twenty?”
I nodded. “I only get three nights with him, Mon.” I swallowed. “It doesn’t feel like enough time.”
“Hey, it’s better than nothing at all, and that’s all you can ask for right now.” She grabbed the long coat I had to wear over the costume and helped me slip my arms through before resting the strap of my overnight bag over my shoulder. “Go have fun, do everything I wouldn’t do, and text me the juicy details if you ever come up for air.”
“I feel like Pretty Woman.” I glanced down at the long jacket. “It’s over eighty degrees outside. How obvious is it that I’m hiding something underneath?”
She lifted my chin. “Stop stressing over everything and go have earth-shattering sex-that’s all I want you to think about, nothing else, do you hear me?” She walked me out of my room.
At our front door, I turned to her and said, “Love you. So much.”
“Love you more.” She spanked my butt. “Now, go.”
I laughed as I headed down to the parking garage on the first floor of our building and climbed into the driver’s seat of my car. Jenner’s hotel was only a short drive, and I tried to stay as invisible as possible while I carried my bag through the lobby and into the elevator.
I held my breath as I knocked on his door.
It hadn’t been long at all since we’d seen each other, yet it felt like months. Because now, I was back to my life-school, homework, the grind of my senior year-but I didn’t feel like the same person, and I looked at everything differently. Before Vegas, I’d never experienced this type of connection with someone. I’d never wanted anyone like I wanted Jenner.
The thought was terrifying, and it felt impossible.
Maybe that was why I wasn’t prepared for the feelings that smacked me in the chest the second he opened the door.
“Hi,” I said so softly as I stared at his devastatingly handsome face.
Eyes that were boring through me.
Exhales that I could almost feel hitting my skin.
Lips that I remembered so fondly on my body.
Oh God.
He was dressed in a navy suit, his silver tie loosened, the glistening of cuff links on his wrists. I’d never seen him so formal, but I didn’t think he could ever look as sexy as he did now.
The outfit screamed lawyer. Success. Maturity.
This was no college boy standing in front of me.
This was all man.
My teeth sank into my lip as I added, “That suit looks amazing on you.”
A subtle, extremely hot grin tugged at his mouth. “My meeting ran late. I didn’t have time to change.”
“No complaints here.”
He reached for me. “Get in here.”
