Chapter 5: Good Luck Escaping

Chapter 5: Good Luck Escaping

Chapter 5: (Aubrey's POV)- Good Luck Escaping

I watched as his jaw clenched for a split second before he laughed humorlessly. "Who said I wanted

you to leave? Stay all you want. I'm gonna escape either way," he shrugged while eyeing me head to

toe.

"With that thing on your ankle, good luck escaping." I patted his shoulder twice before going and sitting

on the couch.

He plopped down beside me, still shirtless may I add.

"Wanna watch a movie?" I suggested while grabbing the remote. He nodded before taking the remote

and looking through Netflix to see what we could watch. We settled on the ring. I love scary movies.

I turned the lights off while Xavier went and grabbed hot Cheetos. He and his hot Cheetos.

We ended up watching many more scary movies, and I wasn't aware of how late it was until Mrs.

Parker walked through the door. "Hey, guys! How was the day? He didn't cause trouble did he?" she

asked me while playfully glaring at Xavier.

"No, he was just fine." I glanced at him before turning back to her. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

"Xavier, for god's sake, put a shirt on. You're disturbing the poor girl." She threw his shirt, landing it

straight on his face, making me laugh. She set down her keys and took off her jacket. "Thank you for

coming today. I know he must have caused a little trouble, I just hope it wasn't too much for you. Would

you like to continue? I understand if you don't," she spoke while handing me the twenty-five dollars that

she promised.

"I-I can't take this. It wasn't a job today it was just me trying out, please, I can't take this." I placed the

money back in her hands. I looked over at Xavier before continuing. "And I'd love to continue. He's

great company." I smiled at her.

"Oh," she let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you. We'll continue with twenty-five?" she suggested.

"No." I shook my head. "That's too much, it's unnecessarily too much," I explained. "How about we start

at five?" I suggested. I felt horrible taking money from her at all.

I wish I could help her out and do it for free but I know she wouldn't agree to that. She's too nice of a

lady. "Oh dear no, that's too little, it's close to nothing. Let's start at fifteen," she suggested.

"Mrs. Parker I-" I began to protest but she cut my words short.

"Please call me Catherine. And fifteen is settled." She looked at me sternly yet playfully.

I nodded with a sigh.

"Would you like to stay for dinner? I know this idiot eats late." She gestured to Xavier with her eyes who

was looking down at the ground, blushing!

I shook my head before speaking politely, "No, I can't stay. My mom would be getting home soon," I

explained.

She agreed and began preparing dinner for herself and her son.

"Mom," Xavier spoke, catching our attention. "I promise you, she's not as nice as she plays out to be."

He narrowed his eyes down to slits at me playfully.

I gasped exaggeratedly before speaking, "Do I look like someone who has a mean bone in their body,

Catherine?" I placed a hand on my chest dramatically.

"You two seem to be getting along really well then!" she laughed while getting back to cooking.

"Xavier," she spoke while giving him a pointed look. She had a mischievous look in her eyes while he

blushed.

"Mom, no!" he argued instantly while looking down at the ground, scratching the back of his neck. They

seem to be speaking with their eyes and I found it best to leave the mother and son to it.

"I'll be heading out then. Thank you so much for having me and giving me the job. Gives me something

to do this summer," I laughed while heading for the front door.

Catherine's voice had me stop in my tracks. "Wait! Xavier will see you out." She gave him a look and

he obeyed, walking out with me.

"I thought you'll be keeping the job to get paid well?" he questioned while smirking boyishly.

"I'm not that much of a bitch, Parker," I scoffed while walking over to my bike. "She needs help because

her son needs a babysitter. I'm helping her by being that babysitter," I teased him. I was about to get on

my bike but he grabbed my arm, jerking me close to himself.

"You do love annoying me huh?" he arched an eyebrow at me.

I smiled innocently before talking, "I love the reactions I get out of you." I pulled my arm out of his grip

before getting on my bike. I began riding it and just as I reached the end of their driveway, he called out

to me, causing me to stop abruptly.

"Carthy!" he yelled.

I turned my head in his directions so fast, I was sure I got whiplash.

"I had a lot of fun! Best babysitter ever!" he screamed, making me laugh.

"Best baby I've ever babysat!" I screamed back while smiling.

"Hottest baby too! Don't forget!" he yelled.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night, Parker," I laughed before saying bye and beginning to ride home

with a goofy grin on my face.

He was a nice guy. He got in trouble a lot, but regardless, he was a nice guy. Dare I say, I was looking

forward to babysitting him.

I got home in roughly five minutes since I only lived at the end of the same block and walked up to my

front door with my keys, phone, and earphones in hand. "Mom, I'm home!" I announced as I stumbled

into the kitchen seeing her cooking dinner for us.

"Hey honey, how was your day?" she questioned while putting out some rice and chicken onto a plate

for us.

"It was great. I had a lot of fun," I told her vaguely.

She set up her plate and handed me mine before giving me a pointed look. "Oh honey, I've seen the

boy! He's handsome and I bet you two would look great together! So tell me really, how did it go?" she

squealed in excitement while I grabbed myself a glass of water.

"Mom, it was fine. Awkward at first, but it was fine. We barely talked," I lied. "No, wait. We talked a lot

actually and I took the job, for the summer," I sighed while admitting. I couldn't lie to my mom.

She squealed in excitement as I began eating slowly.

"But no feelings. He's the baby I'm babysitting and he's not even a baby!" I argued. "Plus, he's on

house arrest. How could you want your daughter dating someone on house arrest? That's like a

borderline criminal isn't it?" I pressed further.

My mom looked at me with pure confusion before speaking. "I never said I want you two to be dating. I

just said he's a good-looking boy and you two would look good together. Who planted dating in your

head?" she narrowed her eyes down at me playfully. She got me there.

"Mom, I swear to god, the mind games you play with me." I laughed while shaking my head and

continuing to eat. We were eating until both of our phones beeped simultaneously.

We both checked before looking up at each other. I had a text from an unknown number which read:

'Admit it. I'm the hottest baby ;)'

I laughed before saving the number under 'Xavier' with the baby emoji and texting back"

'Whatever you say.'

And setting my phone down on the table.

"I'm giving Catherine your number so she can tell you whenever you need to babysit him. Tomorrow at

eleven, she has an earlier shift," my mom informed me while I nodded, letting her know I was listening.

"Your goofy grin makes me think a special someone texted you..." she trailed off tauntingly.

"Just the baby I'll be babysitting," I laughed before finishing up and leaving the dishes in the sink since

my mom agreed to do them today.

"Goodnight honey, get a boyfriend out of him!"
