The Alpha’s Dynasty

In shock

Kim

I didn’t think I’d ever forget the look on Maya’s face when I broke the news to her. Harry’s mocking comment was the icing on the cake. She looked so furious when she left I wouldn’t have been surprised if I found her crying. The worst was yet to come for her. I had got Zane under my control and soon, I thought I’d be an executive in the company.

After Maya left, Harry glared at me.

“Get out of my office,” he said.

My lips parted at his rudeness. Just a minute ago, he had been smiling. I had been here for two weeks but I hadn’t been able to figure out if he was in love with her or not. Sometimes they didn’t even greet each other but other times they conversed like they were the best of friends. Until that time, I thought he had nothing against me but I couldn’t be sure about that anymore.

“You may be a senior executive but you can’t treat me like this,” I said, assertively. “I’m an employee of this company just like you are. Just because you earn more doesn’t mean you’re better than me, Mr. Smith.”

He stared at me for a while and then shook his head. “You’re still very young and I’m afraid that you’re making so many mistakes. Think about what you’re doing before you end up in a position where no one wants to employ you. I can tell you want to reach for the stars like almost everybody else but this is not the way to do it.”

“You don’t know anything about me.”

He laughed. “I do. You probably think that sleeping with the right people is a good way to get what you want. You may be in the CEO’s office but you were hired as Maya’s office assistant so she’s your direct supervisor. If any other company wants to employ you, they’ll first ask her about you. If you think she’s useless to you now, please think again. You can either take my advice or not but you have to get out of my office.”

All his words made sense but what he didn’t know was that I had a solid plan to make sure Maya got fired. No one would want to hire her thereafter. Harry could think whatever he wanted but most times I didn’t even have to sleep with people to get what I wanted. Sometimes, I just had to smile.

“You can think whatever you want, Smith. Are you saying all these because of Maya? Are you in love with her?”

“You’re so immature. It seems you know nothing about true friendship. Get out now.”

He was right. I don’t know anything about true friendship. It’s probably why I lost friends almost as soon as I made them. Friends expected a lot of things that I couldn’t offer. I didn’t like listening to anyone’s problems as I had thousands of mine. I also hated making sacrifices for people. I preferred to have no friends than have to do all that.

“What are you waiting for?” He raised his brows.

I glanced at him and walked out, my red heels clicking against the floor. One day, I was going to make him regret treating me like that.

Zane Carrington was a hot, young, handsome and rich man. Because of that, he had a lot of options. He could date whoever he wanted. It was why I had feared that it wouldn’t be very easy to get his attention. Sure, I may be drop dead gorgeous but that’s not all a woman needs to be attractive to some men. Some men like powerful women, women with sound careers and all that.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Thankfully, Zane did not seem to mind that I was lowly assistant. I didn’t care if all he wanted was sex because I had ways of making sure he would never leave my side. My friends didn’t call me the queen of blackmail for nothing. Hahaha, who am I kidding? I didn’t have any real friends, and I didn’t care.

At first, my flirting was subtle but when Zane didn’t seem to mind, I dived deep. We were coming to the end of the day. There were only five minutes remaining to five, so I decided to go and inform Zane that I was leaving.

I stood at his door. “Mr. Carrington, I have finished all my work for the day and I wanted to inform you that I’m about to leave now.” I put on a sweet smile. “But, if you need anything, I can stay and do it for you.”

He stood up. “Actually, I need something, Kim. But, we can’t do it here.”

“Ahhh,” my smile widened. “That’s nice to hear. I can’t wait to serve you.”

He smiled and came towards me. “That’s why I like you, Kim.”

My body was running wild, and I thought he was going to kiss me but he turned back and went to pick up his phone and wallet. “Let’s go.”

I waited for him to pass and locked the office. When I saw him leading us to the elevator, my heart jumped for the life. This was the life I was supposed to live, being spoiled by a rich man. At that time, I didn’t care about anything else. I couldn’t wait to see the reaction of other women when I came out of the executive elevator with the CEO. They were going to be so filled with jealousy.

The best thing happened. As Zane and I exited the executive elevator, Maya was stepping out of the ordinary one. I noted the shock on her face but she hid it so fast. I smiled and continued waltzing out of the building. I was sure Maya was green with jealousy.

When we walked towards the best car in parking lot, I looked around and saw many people giving us looks. I was on cloud nine.

Glancing back, I saw Maya getting into her tiny car. Smiling widely, I waved at her. She didn’t wave back.

Mission accomplished.

I felt like a bride as we drove out of the company. The car smelled great and looked amazing. I had never been in such a nice car before so I was busy looking around it when the car suddenly stopped. I looked out and saw that we had stopped in front of a mall.

“There’s a taxi over there,” Zane said. “You can use it to get home.”

“What?”

He pulled up a hundred dollar bill and placed it on my lap. “That should be enough.”

“What is going, Zane?”

“It’s Mr. Carrington to you, and why are you asking. You requested for a lift to town and here we are. Now get out.”

I grabbed the note and tossed it to the floor to save the last remaining shreds of my dignity before opening the car and getting out.

I stared in shock as the car cruised away. What the hell.
