"You asked for it!"
Calvin didn't show mercy because Todd had walked right into him when he needed a sparring partner.
Todd was so enraged that he punched Calvin in the face right away. "Are you married to Jocelyn?" he asked, his teeth clenched.
"Yes, I am. So what?"
Calvin punched Todd.
"You knew how much I adored her! We've been friends since we were kids, and I've been hoping she'll return for a long time now. Why did you marry her? Give her back to me!" Todd smacked Calvin in the stomach.
Calvin swerved sharply and landed a left hook on Todd. "I have no idea how you feel about her! But keep in mind that she is now my wife. Even if you were my cousin, I couldn't give her to you!"
They continued to swing at each other, each blow sending the other reeling backward.
They kept going until they were completely exhausted. With blood pouring from his nose, Todd eventually collapsed on the ring.
Todd continued to exhale heavily. He stared at the man in front of him and said in a sad tone, "Can you treat her like a princess? I swear I'll kill you if you treat her unfairly!"
Todd wanted nothing more than for Jocelyn to be happy, even if he couldn't have her.
Todd decided to let her go despite his reservations.
He was forced to choose between his cousin and the woman he loved more than anything else in the world.
He prayed that his cousin would value the woman he had fallen for.
"I will! You should stop thinking about my wife anymore.
Calvin took off his gloves and led the way down the ring.
They then went to Club Rapture to have some drinks.
Ryder and Shamar noticed the strange vibe they were giving off.
Calvin was silent, and Todd had also stopped talking about his family. They did nothing but drink quietly in awkward silence.
"What's the matter, Todd? Didn't you say you'd pick up your wife and kids later? Why are you still here?" Ryder asked.
Todd's mood plummeted even further after hearing that.
But he knew it was all his fault because he had told everyone he was getting married in the first place. It was too late, no matter how much he wished he could take back what he said.
Shamar looked closer at Calvin before asking, "What's wrong?" Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Nothing's wrong. Stop talking to me!"
On the other hand, Calvin was not in the mood for small talk and preferred to drink in peace.
The thought of Jocelyn being with other men irritated Calvin even more.
Calvin didn't return to Fallcastle for the next two days, saying he had to travel for work.
Jocelyn realized she had made a bad decision by offending Calvin in the final hours before the Mermaidshine auction began.
She had a painful realization that Calvin was the only person she knew who could help her.
She finally decided to ask him for help after much deliberation.
Jocelyn needed to contact Calvin right away, so she asked Marcus for his number. She called Calvin a few times, but he didn't pick up.
Jocelyn suspected he still harbored grudges against her.
Jocelyn was stuck. She had no choice but to ask Marcus for help. "Marcus, do you know where Mr. Austin is right now? I need to know that!"
"Yes. Please wait a moment."
At this very moment, Calvin led a group of Plexis Group employees, including Craig, out of the company's headquarters.
They had only just stepped off the elevator when a barely dressed female worker suddenly bumped into Calvin and pretended to fall.
She thought Calvin would have some compassion for her and stop to help her. Nonetheless, Calvin stood there without showing any emotion as the woman collapsed at his feet.
"Ouch! Wow, I'm sorry, Mr. Austin. Could you please help me?"
In an obvious attempt to get closer to Calvin, that woman fell to the ground while striking a mermaid pose.
In reality, however, she was a terrible performer.
People who intentionally approached Calvin were nothing new for him to encounter.
The cheap, overpowering perfume was one of Calvin's biggest turnoffs, and he could not stand being around women who wore it like her.
Even as she continued to act pitiful, Calvin avoided eye contact with her. He just seriously told the people around him, "Get this woman out of here. Don't let her appear in front of me ever again!"
"Yes!"
When Craig saw the woman on the floor, he ordered the guards to remove her immediately.
The woman kept screaming, clearly unwilling to leave, "Dear Mr. Austin, please pay attention to me. I love you! I really like you! You're the only man I'll ever love."
The bouncers took her away anyway.
Calvin removed his jacket and threw it away after he left the office.
After getting into the car, Calvin noticed that his arm started to itch slightly. There were many rashes all over his body as he checked his arm.
Calvin couldn't help but frown. During his time with Jocelyn, he experienced no further allergy symptoms, leading him to believe that his condition had been resolved. However, he soon learned that his allergies had not been cured; he was only not allergic to Jocelyn.
Calvin was irritated by the thought that Jocelyn claimed to have dated 23 different men.
In an impatient tone, Calvin rubbed his temples and asked, "What have you found out?"
"I've checked what you asked me to find out. Actually, the group of 23 men you described does not exist. Miss Austen's only known ex-boyfriend is Ernest Cloutier. But as far as I know, they never slept with each other. The detective discovered that Ernest Cloutier had been having an affair with Theresa Chavez before dating Miss Austen."
Calvin was unsure how to react after hearing the outcome.
Since learning that he came in at number 24 on Jocelyn's list of "Men She's Dated," he'd been feeling down for two days. He sighed a sigh of relief when he realized it was all an elaborate lie.
But the idea that Jocelyn had tricked him was making him irritable.
With a calm face, Calvin persisted, "And who has she been with for the past five years?"
He wondered a lot about Jocelyn's whereabouts during those five years she had been hidden from public view.
She made an unexpected announcement that she was leaving show business then. There were rumors that she had eloped with a wealthy foreigner, but nobody knew the truth.
Ernest had stayed in the country for those five years. After announcing his split from Jocelyn on his own, he went public with his relationship with Theresa.
"So where exactly has Jocelyn been for the past five years? Who has she been with?" He thought to himself.
"We know Miss Austin took a flight to Liurta five years ago, but there's no record of what she did there. We don't know much about her recent movements either, other than the fact that she came back earlier."
"Really?"
For some reason, Calvin found this very interesting. Whoever it was that managed to keep Jocelyn under wraps for five years, he couldn't believe it.
