Chapter 37 Our Marriage Is Fake
Jocelyn bathed her daughter and put her to bed that night. She didn't worry about Jeffrey at all because he could take care of himself very well.
She didn't leave the room until all her kids fell asleep.
After closing the door, she ran into Beatrice when she turned around. Jocelyn was taken aback and said, "Hi, Beatrice. You stay up too late."
"Yeah, I came to see you. Do you want to have a midnight snack? I can ask someone to prepare it."
Jocelyn shook her head and answered, "No, I'm full for dinner, and I'm not hungry now."
"OK."
Jocelyn was very grateful to Beatrice, since when she and Calvin got home tonight, she had asked someone to prepare the meals. And now she came to ask Jocelyn intimately if she wanted to eat a midnight snack.
Jocelyn began to think it was her blessing to meet such a great mother-in-law. She hadn't got her mother's love for a long time since her mother had died when she was young.
"Don't worry about us. Just go to bed! Good night."
After she finished, Jocelyn was about to go to the guestroom. At this moment, however, Beatrice called her back. "Honey, you seem to choose the wrong way. The master room is over there."
Jocelyn paused, beginning to realize that Beatrice had come to "supervise and inspect" her married life.
Calvin and she slept in different rooms last night. Now that Beatrice was staring at her, Jocelyn had to go to sleep with Calvin.
Turning her head, Jocelyn smiled, "Oh, yeah. I made a mistake. There are too many rooms and I fail to distinguish between them. Alright, I'll go to the master room first!"
She waved her hand to Beatrice and went straight to the master room.
Beatrice watched Jocelyn enter the bedroom with a smile before she felt relieved. A servant told her that her son went to the master room but left Jocelyn alone in the guestroom last night.
In her opinion, the married couple must sleep together.
Beatrice guessed that maybe the two were newly married and didn't have sex well. Moreover, Calvin knew little about sex and the two likely quarreled with each other due to this. Beatrice wanted to help them make up.
Jocelyn didn't intend to stay overnight in the master room. She planned to return to the guestroom after Beatrice went to her room.
About two minutes later, Jocelyn guessed Beatrice might have left, so she opened the door.
However, the woman was still standing near the door and looking at Jocelyn with a smile. Jocelyn smiled awkwardly, stuck out her tongue, and quickly closed the door.
It seemed that she couldn't sleep in the guestroom tonight. Thus, she had to go to the master room. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
The sound of pattering water came from the bathroom. Jocelyn looked out and saw a tall figure reflected on a foggy glass wall.
All right!
Jocelyn could feel the handsome man's damn hormones again!
She worked to prevent herself from being tempted by his charm!
After showering, Calvin returned to the master room in a nightgown. Seeing Jocelyn sitting by the bed, he asked, "Why are you here? Didn't you say you're going to sleep over there tonight?"
Jocelyn made a gesture to explain, "Your mother is outside, so I can't make it."
Calvin finally understood that his mother might come to investigate his married life, probably because she was doubting their relationship.
If so, there was no need for Calvin to pretend to be polite. He walked over directly, sat down beside Jocelyn, sniffed the fragrance of her hair, and said intentionally, "In that case, why don't we act more realistically?"
"What do you mean?" Jocelyn asked vigilantly while subconsciously turning sideways when she felt the man's hot breath fall on her ear.
"Why not have se..."
"Hey! It was you who said in the agreement that I shouldn't sleep with you, love you, or..."
Before she could finish speaking, Calvin jokingly said, "That's my request for you, but I didn't say anything about myself."
"What? How could you do this?"
Jocelyn didn't expect this guy to be so crafty that his agreement required her to behave well but allowed him to do whatever he wanted.
"What's wrong with me? Did I break the law? You are my wife, OK?" Calvin said as it should be.
Jocelyn was irritated. "But our marriage is fake!"
"The marriage certificate is real."
When Calvin glanced at her breast, Jocelyn immediately defensively folded her arms.
"Mr. Austin, if you want to break the agreement, it will be over. I won't need 10 million dollars anymore, but take the children away tomorrow."
Seeing Jocelyn getting up to leave, Calvin pulled her back. Jocelyn's calf hit the bed, and her body fell backward uncontrollably.
"Ah..." Jocelyn screamed.
The next second, the man closed to her with his handsome face and met her eyes. At this moment, she was so frightened that she forgot to breathe.
"Leave? Where do you want to go? Do you want to take the children to find my cousin? Do you think you can enter the house of the Garner family?"
Calvin held down her arms, and the two were so close to each other.
However, his words were a bit sarcastic, which made her feel a little heartbroken when she thought she met Denise during the day.
She knew she couldn't marry into such an influential family as the Garner family, so she didn't intend to find Todd with her children.
She could take care of her two children by herself before. In the future, she could also raise them without relying on anyone.
"It's none of your business."
Jocelyn refuted him bravely, not aware of the slight grievance in her tone.
"None of my business? That's why you found the portly aged guy Martin behind my back, right?"
Calvin had held back his anger over the night and it was time for him to know what she was thinking.
Was it more difficult for her to ask him for help than to take the risk of begging the lustful old guy?
Though he was normally her husband, she paid no attention to him, did she?
"I didn't do anything wrong to you. Didn't we agree not to interfere with each other? It is my right to beg whoever I want."
If Jocelyn hadn't said those things to him unabashedly after drinking last night, she wouldn't have found him.
She burned her bridges!
"You asked another man rather than me for help. I have never seen a woman who is more stupid than you!"
Jocelyn forced a smile, "Mr. Austin, you are wrong! Haven't you heard the saying that rabbits never eat grass beside their nests?"
That meant unless it was necessary, she would not beg Calvin and owe him more, since once they broke up, she might not return the favor.
"Do you think you are the rabbit and I am the grass?" Calvin asked seriously.
"Yeah." Jocelyn nodded.
Calvin was very dissatisfied with this metaphor, and snorted lightly, "How can I be grass? At least I am a tree!"
He was so wealthy and powerful. How could he just be grass?
