Chapter 13 Please Let The Wallace Family Go

“Ahuh, time’s up, but I’m still totally fine,” Walt said, cocking his head to the side tauntingly.

However, right as he said that, his phone rang.

It was a call from his father.

The second the call connected. his father’s furious voice blasted out of the speaker, “You b*stard! Who have you crossed? You just put the Wallace family into hot water. Just wait. I’ll never know peace until I beat you into a pulp myself!”

What? Walt was astounded. What is he going on about?

Before Walt could recompose himself, a cracking sound came from the other end of the line. His father had thrown his phone at the peak of his anger.

Then, another call came in.

“Bad news, sir! The bank has urgently called for a stop to the two hundred million loan contract signed last week!”

“W–What? Why?” Walt shrieked.

“The bank said that the Wallace family is doomed. Giving us the loan right now would be akin to donating to charity! They’ll never get it back!”

“What f*cking nonsense is this? He’s the one who’s screwed! Our family will never be done for!” Walt snapped before hanging up.

Yet, in the next second, his phone rang again.

More and more calls came in, and Walt’s phone was never silent for more than a second.

He was getting bombarded by calls.

“Bad news, Mr. Wallace! The factory workers are telling us that the fire safety department said we failed the inspection and that we’re going to forcibly shut down the factory!”

“Mr. Wallace, three of our suppliers have announced they’re ceasing collaboration with us!”

“Mr. Wallace, the cops have arrested your father!”

One bad news was coming after another, and the colors were dissipating from Walt’s face. He was even shaking uncontrollably.

Beads of sweat on his forehead rolled down his face. The only thing Walt could do was stare at Alex in terror and disbelief.

“You… It’s you… You’re the one behind this, aren’t you? Aren’t you just a live–in son–in–law? How did you pull this off?”

With an impassive look, Alex said, “Do you still remember what I said yesterday? I said I’m going to make you kneel and beg for mercy.”

Thump!

A mere message from Alex had wrecked the Wallace family. The power and influence that Alex had made Walt mute with horror.

He panicked, and he was frightened.

He knew that the Wallace family was done for.

Alex Jefferson has hidden his identity, far too well.

Walt was certain Alex had an enormous force with unimaginable power backing him. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“Alex! Sir! My dear class rep! I’m sorry! I know I’ve done wrong now! I was ignorant and a fool to have treated you that way! Please give me another chance to right my wrong! Please spare the Wallace family!”

He kept smacking his head against the ground in a frenzied manner as he begged for forgiveness. Blood seeped out of his forehead.

The rest were dumbfounded.

They all had their eyes as wide as saucers as their jaws hung.

It was unbelievable.

Alex Jefferson, a live–in son–in–law, had crushed the mighty Wallace family with just one text message.

Furthermore, the son of the Wallace family, Walt Wallace, had gone on his knees before Alex and was groveling for mercy.

Thus, the people could not help but wonder if their class rep was truly just a live–in son–in–law.

Even Heather widened her eyes as she stared at Alex’s face.

It felt as though Alex was a stranger to her now.

Indeed, the Alex before her was not the same Alex she once knew.

It was at that moment she recalled how Alex kept insisting that he could provide her thirty million to help the Jennings family.

However, she did not dare to believe him back then, thinking that he had an exaggerated sense of his abilities.

But, now…

A bitter feeling started growing in her heart.

She knew that her five–year relationship with Alex could never go back to how it used to be by the time the sun came up the next morning.

The milk was spilled, and it was too late.

Irreparable cracks had appeared in the house they had built for themselves.

Yet, at the same time, a sudden surge of anger welled up in her.

She could not help but wonder. If Alex is that capable, why did he lie to me? Why would he rather be known as a useless live–in son–in–law and be berated by my mother than reveal his real identity? Did

he ever love me?

“Alex–No. Sir! No, no. My liege! Master, please let the Wallace family go! If you show me and my family mercy, from now on, I’ll be your loyal mutt!”

Walt was truly terrified.

He was a scion born with a golden spoon.

He had yet to recollect himself from the fall from grace.

Most importantly, his father had just been taken away by the police.

He was certain that Alex would be able to keep his father in jail forever with just one word from him.

How long his father would survive in there would fully depend on the mood of Alex and the force backing him.

Furthermore, would Alex even let him go after how he had set Heather up and humiliated Alex?

The answer was a resounding no.

Sure enough, a group of police officers dashed in at that moment.

“Who’s Walt Wallace?” one of the officers asked.

Walt’s body went cold with dread, and he nearly passed out.

What he feared most had come true.
