Chapter 18
Chapter 18 Know Your Place Before You Show
Yara threw a lavish party for Gwen in the most exclusive Elite Club in Dornwick that evening. The place was buzzing with energy, and the bass from the music was echoing throughout the room.
Yara had her arm around Gwen as they stood on stage, raising her glass to the crowd of glamorous men and women she’d personally invited.
“Alright, everyone! Let’s raise a glass to my girl, Gwen, for finally breaking free and getting a fresh start!”
“Cheers!”
“Congrats!”
Gwen downed her drink in one go before Yara pulled her into the center of the crowd.
“Babe, this is the heir to HB Group–his family’s worth billions.
“And over here, meet the CEO of Titan Industries–his body’s as good as his business.”
Gwen greeted them one by one with a polite smile, but as she turned around, she accidentally bumped into someone.
“Do you even watch where you’re going? You just stepped on my shoes!” a shrill voice screeched from behind.
Gwen raised an eyebrow, letting out a cold laugh. She knew that voice well–it was Caitlin Hall, the spoiled little sister of her ex–husband. Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
Before Gwen could say anything, Yara stepped in front of her. “Who the hell are you? How about you learn some manners before running your mouth?”
Caitlin was too busy fussing over her scuffed designer heels to care. But when she looked up, her eyes widened as she recognized Gwen, her ex–sister–in–law.
A smirk crept across her face as she sneered. “So, it’s the one my brother kicked to the curb, huh? How’s single life, Gwen?”
Caitlin had tagged along to Dornwick with Sienna Charles and had spent weeks convincing Sarah to let her go. Yara’s temper flared instantly. She rolled up her sleeves, ready to throw hands, but Gwen stopped her.
“It’s fine,” Gwen said coolly, “people like her aren’t worth our time.”
Back when she was married to Jake, Gwen had been nothing but kind to Caitlin, treating her like family. But now? Caitlin was nothing in her eyes. Caitlin wasn’t even worth Gwen’s time to argue with her.
Gwen’s eyes swept over Caitlin dismissively, landing on Sienna, who stood nearby in a loose Dior outfit and flat pearl- studded shoes, her pregnancy evident.
What was she doing here? Shouldn’t she be on bed rest?
Sienna’s gaze flickered with discomfort when she met Gwen’s eyes, clearly sensing the hostility. She’d flown all the way to Dornwick to talk to Jake about Gwen, but now here she was, facing Gwen directly.
This was only the second time Sienna had seen Gwen in person, and it was clear as day that her presence posed a threat. Gwen’s beauty and elegance only amplified the sense of competition brewing inside her.
Not wanting to waste any more time on the two eyesores, Gwen pulled Yara away to leave.
Caitlin, however, wasn’t used to being ignored, especially by someone like Gwen. Her spoiled temper flared, and she started shouting, completely oblivious to her surroundings.
“Why did you have to cause such heavy losses to the Hall Group if you’ve already decided to leave? If the deal at the expo falls through, I’ll have my brother sue you! I’ll make sure you lose everything!”
Gwen kept walking, pulling Yara along with her,

“You’re all bark and no bite! You’re just like a broken record who wouldn’t let go of my brother before, and now that you’ve probably found someone new, you’re just walking away like it’s nothing!
“You’re a disgrace! Just hearing your name makes me sick!”
Gwen could keep her cool, but Yara wasn’t having any of it. No one could insult her best friend and get away with it. Breaking free from Gwen’s grasp, Yara stormed back to Caitlin, Grabbing a glass of champagne from a waiter’s tray, she flung it in Caitlin’s face with all her might.
“This is my party, and who do you think you are, squawking like some pathetic chicken in front of my friend? Do you think you’re all that? Try again, honey.”
Yara’s sharp words were followed by a burst of laughter from the crowd, the attractive men and women around her all joining in to mock Caitlin.
Caitlin had never been so humiliated in her life. Her makeup was ruined, and the laughter echoing around her only made her feel worse. Desperately, she turned to Sienna for help.
“Sienna, please help me!”
