Even a series of behaviors could tell a lot. Stephen believed Simona was wealthy and that spending money was only natural for her. He felt perfectly at ease enjoying its benefits.

Time passed quickly, and soon it was 7:00 am.

In the absence of traffic, it took about 50 minutes to get from the city center to the airport. After checking out of the hotel, Ned and Rosa headed straight for their car.

Skylar happened to be on the road at the same time. As she neared the hotel, Jeremy called her.

“Skylar, Ned and Rosa are no longer at the hotel. They must have gone to the airport. Their departure was sudden. Just now, my team member in charge of cooperating with Ned informed me that he’s temporarily leaving Jipsburg today and won’t be back for a few days. Are you on your way to the hotel?”

Skylar slammed on the brakes upon hearing this.

“How could they leave so suddenly? Weren’t they planning to set up a branch in Jipsburg? They have several projects and many companies with which to collaborate. Why would they leave at such a crucial time?”

Jeremy replied, “I’m not entirely sure about the specifics. It seems he had some sudden matters to attend to. You should head to the airport as quickly as possible. I’m not sure if you’ll make it in time. Have you tried calling him?”

Skylar’s throat tightened as she responded, “I’ve called several times, but he hasn’t answered. We had some misunderstandings before.”

“Let me try calling him and see what’s going on,” Jeremy said after a brief pause.

Skylar agreed and said, “Okay, I’ll head to the airport now.”

“Is Ned really Mr: Martin?” Helena wiped her still–damp hair and asked Jeremy, who was busy searching for phone numbers.

Jeremy glanced back at her and replied, “Yes, there’s a 90 percent chance he is Joe.”

“It’s like a scene from a movie or TV show. I can’t believe someone can really come back to life in reality. The happiest person right now must be Skylar. She truly has witnessed a miraculous turnaround.” Helena couldn’t help but sigh.

Sometimes, Helena truly envied Skylar. Not only did Skylar have Joe’s affection, but over the past few years, her friends had supported her through difficult times. Now, she had learned that Joe was still alive.

And as for her….

She silently watched Jeremy as he dialed a number. They had been quite close the night before, yet during the day, it felt as if an invisible barrier separated them.

Jeremy had made several calls without anyone answering. He frowned and called Skylar to explain the situation.

“Is Ned leaving in such a hurry because his fiancée is afraid the truth about him being Joe Martin will be revealed?” Helena speculated, trying to shake off her earlier disappointment.

Jeremy turned to look at Helena, his eyes lighting up. “That’s very possible.”

The urgency of their departure surely indicated that Rosa was afraid.

“I believe his fiancée must have sensed something long ago but has been hiding it, which

shows she has her own motives. If she doesn’t come clean about Ned’s true identity, and since he seems to have lost his memory, it’s likely that the outcome won’t be good when Skylar goes

to find him.

“Ned won’t easily believe her. After all, this whole situation is just too surreal,” Helena said.

Jeremy nodded, thoughtfully pondering Helena’s words. Helena felt uneasy under his gaze. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Jeremy replied, pulling his attention away.

“Oh, I have an event this afternoon, and I should head over for the rehearsal now,” Helena responded.
