Chapter 1546
Ruth watched her parents arguing and covered her ears. "Can you stop fighting? Are you trying to anger me?"
Finn and Miriam's eyes were devoid of the affection they once had for each other.
Although that affection had long since eroded over the years, they used to pretend at least. Now, they no longer bothered to keep up the façade. They simply couldn't.
Their minds were filled with thoughts of each other's deception and betrayal. They loathed one another.
"It's all their fault! Otherwise, we wouldn't have ended up like this!" Ruth yelled angrily.
Their family had once been so happy. Everyone she knew envied her, saying she was lucky to have loving parents and a good family background.
So many people admired her. But now she had fallen ill with this wretched disease, and her parents' marriage had fallen apart!
She had known about her brothers before, but back then, she thought their mother must not have been good enough. Why else would her father leave them and choose her own mother instead?
She had never cared for her brothers' love. She was the one and only precious person in her family, the one her parents adored the most.
"Ruth, don't be upset. It's definitely their fault! Dad and I will figure something out. We'll make sure you get better! I won't let you suffer from this illness any longer," Miriam said.
Right now, her daughter was all that mattered to her, and she was willing to do anything for her.
Although Finn harbored resentment toward Miriam, it didn't stop him from caring about his daughter. After all, this was the daughter he had personally raised. They had a deep bond.
"Your mom is right. Just rest and focus on getting better. You don't need to worry about anything else. We'll make sure you get the healthiest kidney so you can go back to being the lively, happy girl you used to be."
Finn had also made up his mind. No matter what, he would cure Ruth. The daughter he cared for the most would not be taken away by illness.
Once they coaxed Ruth to sleep, the couple stepped out of the hospital room.
Outside, they glared coldly at each other.
"Your good-for-nothing sons are so stubborn Did you see what just happened? When Ruth called them, they hung up on her as soon as she introduced herself. Their hearts are unbelievably cold!
"And don't forget, they might have orchestrated our company's troubles. Otherwise, why would they have stayed silent the whole time?
"Finn, look at your sons! What kind
of father are you? Janine must have brainwashed them so thoroughly that they don't even acknowledge you as their father anymore!
Miriam's hatred for Janine and her sons ran deep. Finn's face darkened. "I'll try to contact Janine."

...
Half an hour later, Finn called Janine using a different number as his own had been blocked. He had no other choice.
As he anxiously wondered whether Janine would pick up, she finally answered after a few rings. "Hello."
Janine's voice sounded cheerful, and the faint sound of wind in the background indicated that she was outside.noveldrama
Although her voice was familiar, Finn felt like Janine had become a
