It was quite rare for Mayra to voluntarily speak to the maids.

“Mr. Anderson has something to do at Barlow Estate and mentioned he’ll be back in a few days,” Helen said as she placed a plate of croissants on the dining table. “You said you liked this last night, so I picked some up at the market this morning.”

“Thank you, Helen.”

Seeing her in her school uniform, Helen asked, “Would you like Mr. Anderson to call in sick for you? Is your leg feeling better?”

Mayra replied, “Yes, it doesn’t hurt much anymore.”

After eating the croissants and drinking a glass of milk, Mayra left for school. On the way, she asked the driver to drop her off midway. She planned to take the bus instead. While waiting, she saw a familiar person approaching on a bicycle.

Gordon immediately noticed the bruise on her forehead and gently pushed aside her hair. “Did you get hurt?”

“I’m fine,” Mayra said.

“Does it hurt?”

“Not at all.”

In truth, Mayra had multiple painful bruises from falling down the stairs the previous day, but she was just enduring the pain.

Gordon’s large hand ruffled her hair comfortingly. “I’ll pick you up after school.”

Mayra’s eyes brightened. “You aren’t busy tomorrow?”

“No, it’s Saturday tomorrow,” Gordon replied. Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

Mayra was naturally happy to spend time with him. Since Anderson wouldn’t be back for a few days, he probably wouldn’t know about this.

Sitting on the back of the bicycle, she wrapped her arms around Gordon’s waist. The scent of soap on his dark shirt gave her a sense of security.”

Gordon, let’s go watch a movie.”

“We’ll watch one tomorrow.”

“Alright. As long as I’m with you, anything is fine.”

At school, Mayra found an invitation to a luxury cruise party on her desk. She didn’t need to guess who had sent it. Mayra tore the invitation into pieces and

threw it in the trash.

Regardless of the day, time seemed to pass quickly for Mayra.

While working on her test, she felt her hand suddenly weaken. A sharp pain shot through her joints, causing her to drop her pen.

Stella picked it up for her and adjusted her thick glasses. “Are you okay? Do you need to see the nurse?”

“Thanks, I’m fine. I just need to rest,” Mayra replied.

She was sweating from the pain. It was probably due to her fall the night before. She felt fine this morning, but now everything hurt.

Stella noticed the bangle on Mayra’s wrist but didn’t pay much attention. However, most students at the school were wealthy and rarely wore old- fashioned bangles like his.

Mayra rested her head on the desk for a while.

The bell rang, signaling the end of class, but she couldn’t lift her arm.

Stella, packing her bag, looked back at Mayra with concern. “Maybe you should see the nurse?”

Mayra couldn’t even lift her legs. “Can you get my phone from my bag?”
