Chapter 29
Before Mayra could ask, Gordon said, "This is for you."
"Thank you." She smiled, her lovely dimples showing. She then sipped the sweet milk via the straw.
"Are you afraid of being caught?" he asked.
She sat sideways on the bicycle, swinging her legs leisurely and smiling. "Why should I? We're not dating. Besides, you didn't consent when I asked you to be my boyfriend."
He was rendered speechless. When they arrived at school, Gordon rode through the school gate. Many teachers and students glanced over.
But after all, he was a scholarship student at the University of Belchester. His teachers considered him a scholar, making him a special exception. So, they pretended nothing had happened when they saw him with Mayra.
However, news quickly spread that he had sent her to school by bicycle. The class preparation bell soon rang.
Mayra picked up her book. She hadn't said anything since she entered. Finally, Emily couldn't bear it anymore and asked, "Were you with Gordon last night? Why didn't I see Gordon at the barbeque stall yesterday? Doesn't he work part-time there?
"Oh, Mayra, don't get me wrong. He gave me two tickets last time. I went with my mother yesterday and didn't see him there. I just asked you out of curiosity."
She responded, "I was in evening class with Gordon last night. There was no bus when we returned, so he sent me back. What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
Emily grinned and waved. "It's nothing. I was just asking. So will he still attend evening class today?"
"I don't know."
Mayra could sense Emily wanted to talk to her from the moment the school bell rang. To escape Emily's questioning during Eldorish study hall, she covered her ears and concentrated on memorizing the vocabulary. Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
There were still ten minutes left for study hall. Nina suddenly entered from outside and stood on the podium, saying, "Some of your results have already come out. One of you is beyond my expectations. I don't know how she did it, but I've seen that she has studied hard over the last half- month.
"She has received a perfect score in the math test. I'll tell you all who that person is later. The parent-teacher meeting is the day after tomorrow. I hope you all can write a letter to your parents. As for how to write it, it's up to you.
"By the way, Mayra. Follow me to the office."
Mayra was called to the office again. But this time, she didn't get a dressing down.
Nina frowned and stated, "Gordon is helping you with tutoring this time. You must have felt that you've improved a lot. You're the only one who got a full score in math.
"But in the last question, you used the incorrect symbol. I won't deduct your score. You can think of it as my bonus for you."
"Thank you, Ms. Nina."
Mayra wasn't surprised by the result. She just didn't want to learn in the past because her entire focus was on Anderson.
"There's one more thing. Why can't I get through to your brother's phone number? I hope he can attend the parent-teacher meeting."
