Chapter 27
Gordon pursed his lips and looked at Mayra with determination. "No buses are running now. Do you plan to walk back?"
"It's none of your business. Don't forget that you were the one who ignored me first. Why are you coming here to look for me? Just leave. I don't need your concern."
She walked around him and left. Then, she stopped a taxi by the roadside and was about to get in. But before she could, he grabbed her schoolbag and hauled her aboard his bicycle.
Mayra sat on his bicycle, annoyed. "What are you doing?"
Gordon ignored the taxi driver's curses and rode his bicycle away. She sat behind him silently. Even when they arrived at the destination, they didn't say a word.
The wind slightly messed up her hair. He stopped the bicycle and returned her bag to her. She took it slowly. "Thank you."
"You don't need to attend the evening class again. If you have any questions, you can text me. It won't be safe for you to come home alone this late."
"Gordon, you don't have to hide from me from now on. You're right to keep your distance from me. I'll ask the teacher if I have questions. It's getting late. I'll go back first."
Gordon could tell Mayra wasn't joking with him. When she passed by, he smelled her unique fragrance. He wanted to stop her, but her sleeves slipped past his fingers. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Under the streetlights, his handsome face revealed a hint of loneliness. Before she went upstairs, his deep voice penetrated the darkness.
"I've got nothing to do with Emily. Mayra, from the beginning to the end, all I want is for you to get into a decent university. If you don't know the basics, I'll help you."
Mayra halted her steps.
"Mayra, I want to go to the University of Belchester with you!"
The warm breeze blew, igniting their budding romance. Mayra always felt like she had a dead knot in her heart. Gordon married Emily in her previous life. If she got involved, their original fate would be over.
Mayra's current mind was still that of her previous life, with adult thoughts. If she was really with Gordon, Emily would never have a chance again.
Emily had already died in her previous life when Mayra went to study overseas. It was only later that she gradually began to have contact with the already-wealthy Gordon.
Mayra closed her eyes as if she had made up her mind. She then turned around and walked to Gordon, raising her head and staring at him closely.
"Gordon, now you only have to answer two questions. First, has my brother looked for you? If you don't want to answer, you can turn around and leave now. I'll never contact you again."
When he looked at her, Mayra knew what he meant right away. He nodded.
"Gordon, do you still like me?"
