Return Of The Bad Boy Alpha

Return of the Bad Boy Alpha Chapter 39

Naomi

"Fine, but I am coming with you," Phoebe huffs.

I am about to argue, but the look on her face tells me it would be futile. "Fine," I concede and open the safe. I grab the book. "It's going to be dangerous."

"We live for danger, Naomi," She laughs entirely too loud.

"Shh," I put a finger over my lips. "Come on," I whisper and rush out of the office. We hurry to get outside, and I smell smoke as we step out the door. I turn to see a cigarette light up, and Greyson steps into the light wearing his gamma uniform. "Where are you two rushing off to?" He asks.

I put the book behind my back, "Oh, just for a walk."

Greyson takes a drag on his cigarette, "Liar."

"I thought you quit," Phoebe says to him.

"I still need a fix once in a while," He takes another drag. "So, where are you two going?" He repeats.

I sigh and hold out the book, "I am taking this thing back to where it belongs to get my mate back," I tell Greyson.

Greyson nods and flicks his cigarette away, "So, when are we leaving?"

"You can't come, Greyson," I argue. "Chance and Bryant are missing along with Magnus. Max needs you."

"Yeah," Phoebe adds.

"What kind of gamma would I be if I let you two pregnant ladies go off on some dangerous mission?" Greyson folds his arms.

I can see by the look on his face that Greyson won't let it go. I take a deep breath, "Fine, come on." I turn and head towards the garage.

"Shouldn't you two take extra clothes and stuff?" Greyson snorts.

"We have to get going," I whine.

"You don't have time to pack some stuff?" Greyson laughs.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

"He has a point, Naomi," Phoebe grabs my arm.

"Fine, but we must hurry before they come looking for me and the book," I concede.

We get up to Phoebe's old room and pack a couple of old backpacks full of clothes. I look over to see Phoebe texting someone. She sighs, "Brutus will be so mad at me." "You don't have to come," I pat her arm.

"Yes, I do," She smiles at me and pockets her phone. "Let's go," She says.

We get downstairs, and Greyson is waiting for us. He is leaning against his Chevy Tahoe. "Do you have everything you need?" He asks.

"We have enough," I say as I hop into the SUV and toss my bag in the backseat next to Phoebe.

"So, where to?" Greyson asks.

I open the book, and at first, there is nothing on its yellowed pages, "I don't know," I grumble. A flash of light makes us all jump as fire burns a map onto the page. 'Go due, south,' A cold voice whispers.

"What?" I look, and Greyson and Phoebe are both giving me looks of confusion. I take a deep breath. "Go due south," I tell Greyson.

"South? Just south?" He asks.

'South,' The voice hisses. 'Go south for one hundred miles.

"South for one hundred miles," I repeat to Greyson.

He starts the car while shaking his head, "Alrighty then," He breathes out, and we pull away from the house.

We pass the packhouse, and I see my mother walk out with Janice. They notice us and start shouting and waving. Greyson starts to slow down.

"Keep going, Greyson," I tell him.

"But-"

"Go," Phoebe yells.

Greyson guns the accelerator, and we fly by the hospital.

'Naomi!' My mom shouts in my mind. 'Come back.'

I block her out as we drive out of the territory. We get to the gate, and the guards wave us down, but Greyson speeds up, and they leap out of the way as we speed past.

"I am going to be in so much trouble for that," Greyson sighs. "I hope Max doesn't try to order me back."

"Do you need me to drive?" Phoebe speaks up. "Because I can resist Max's orders."

Greyson shakes his head. "No, I will be okay, Pheebs."

We get onto the main highway and head directly south. It doesn't take long to drive one hundred miles south. We stop at a rest area so for a break. I walk into the bathroom with Phoebe. "Oh, man, I am about to burst," Phoebe announces loudly.

I hear her phone ring, and then she sighs. "Are you going to answer it?" I ask from the next stall.

"No," she whimpers. "It's Brutus."

I say nothing and finish my business. While washing my hands, I feel my pups kicking and put my hand on my belly.

"Are you okay?" Phoebe asks from beside me.

I nod, "Yeah, they just started kicking," I smile at her.

She huffs, "No fair. I want to feel my daughter kick."

"It will happen," I say as we walk out of the bathroom. Greyson is sitting in his Tahoe eating chips as we approach.

"Took long enough," He says with crumbs flying out of his mouth.

"We are girls," Phoebe grabs the chip bag from him and eats a chip.

I snatch the bag from Phoebe, "pregnant ones, too," I say and pop a chip into my mouth.

Greyson takes the bag from me and frowns upon realizing there are no more chips. "Where to next?" He asks.

I pick up the book and open it. I flip the page, and another map is burnt onto the page. 'Follow the directions in the book,' the cold voice hisses in my ear.

I sigh and show Greyson, "Follow the directions I tell him."

He looks confused, "Naomi, I don't see anything."

I narrow my eyes at him. "What do you mean that you can't see anything?"

"I can't see anything either," Phoebe states from the backseat.

"You didn't see the fire or smell the smoke?" I ask my friends, and they both shake their heads. I press my lips together and look at the book. I take a deep breath and direct Greyson on where to go. I turn the pages of the book, and it is blank. "I guess it will only show me what I need to know."

"Creepy," Phoebe snorts from the backseat.

We drive for several more hours until we are too tired to go on. We get a room at a cheap hotel. I lay on a hard queen-sized bed beside Phoebe. I glance at her, and she is scrolling through her phone with a frown.

"You should call Brutus," I tell her.

She nods, "I know, but he will be so mad at me."

"Still, can you imagine the agony he is going through not being able to get a hold of you?" I state. "I am in agony, not being able to talk to Magnus." It rings twice, "Hi Brutus," She says in a small voice.

I hear a roar on the other side, "PHOEBE!" He screams. It's an agonized scream. "Where are you? Why haven't you answered me?" I can hear him practically sobbing.

"I am so sorry, Bruty," Phoebe says with tears in her eyes.

I look over at Greyson; he is talking to his mate Fred on his phone. I sigh and wish I could talk to Magnus. I set the book on the nightstand and settle into the bed. I block out my friend's voices and fall asleep.

The alarm on Greyson's phone wakes me up hours later. He is passed out on the other bed while Phoebe is straddling me. I gently nudge her. "Phoebe," I whisper as she stirs.

"Turn off the damn alarm," She mumbles.

Greyson groans from the other bed and picks up his phone. He begrudgingly turns off the alarm and sighs. "Five more minutes, Mommy," He rolls over.

"Come on, Grey," I sit up and feel queasy. Another kick makes me touch my belly. "Hi, pups," I say to them. I get up and rush into the small bathroom. I do my business quickly so that Phoebe and Greyson can do theirs. We gather our stuff and check out, then stop at Burger King for breakfast before heading down the road.

It's another long day of driving. Phoebe and I switch out driving duties to give Greyson a break. While driving through the night towards Death Valley, my mind starts to wander. I find myself in another time, watching my children play on an old playground while Magnus stands beside me. I am lulled into a sense of bliss, thinking it's real. I look over at Magnus, his face contorted into bright headlights with the sound of a semi blaring its horn.

"NAOMI!" Greyson shouts, and I swerve out of the way just in time to avoid a head-on collision.

I get the Tahoe to the shoulder and stare into the darkness. "I'm sorry," I mumble.

"I'm driving," Phoebe declares from the back.

I nod and get out of the car to switch places. While walking to the other side, the dark road melts into a new place, and I am standing on a hill overlooking a bustling village of people. "What?" I look around for anything familiar and see a little girl standing beside me. She looks so much like me but has Magnus's green eyes.

"We are almost there, Mommy," She says to me. "Daddy is waiting for us." She grins, and the scene fades, and I am lying on the ground in Greyson's arms.

"Holy shit, Naomi," He exclaims.

"What happened?" I ask.

"You fucking passed out," Greyson tells me.

"Oh shit," I say, sitting up and holding my head. "I talked to my daughter," I say while trying to get up.

Greyson helps me to my feet and makes me sit in the Tahoe. "We should find a hotel, Pheebs."

Phoebe is sitting in the front seat, "Already ahead of you on that Grey," She responds. "There is one about a mile ahead of us."

I settle into the backseat and close my eyes. Minutes later, I am woken up by Greyson. "Come on, Naomi," He says to me and tries to pick me up.

I wave him off, "I can walk, Greyson," I mumble. I lean against him and look at the hotel. It's a small rustic place with a strange smell. Ruby stirs in my head as we approach the building. "Are you guys getting a strange feeling from this place?" "Yeah," Phoebe replies.

We walk in, and an older man sits at a broken wooden desk. He looks up at us and grins, showing off vampire fangs, and we all freeze.

"What are three young werewolves doing out at this time of night?" He asks in a raspy voice.
