Reckless Marriage Unyielding Love

Chapter 181

Mikayla applied ointment in the bathroom, soothing her body. The fiery pain instantly transformed into a cool and comfortable sensation. The pain eased in an instant.

Mikayla thought to herself, 'Carlos is infuriating but lovable.'

After applying the ointment, Mikayla turned on the faucet at the sink, releasing hot water to wash her face and brush her teeth.

Once she finished applying skincare products, she looked at her reflection in the mirror. Not sure if it was because of the frustration caused by Carlos just now, but her cheeks still had a slight blush.

Upon exiting the bathroom, Mikayla noticed that Carlos was no longer in the room.

Just as Carlos mentioned, the ointment did work quite well. After a few minutes, walking felt much easier, and the sharp, tearing pain seemed to have subsided.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

While changing clothes, Mikayla almost didn't recognize her own body.

Covered in bruises, every pore seemed to be complaining about Carlos's misdeeds from the night before.

When she woke up, it was as if Carlos had dressed her in the nightgown to deceive her. Unfortunately, Carlos was simply masking his misdeeds.

Since sharing a room with Carlos, she hadn't made love with him in that act, but she was tossed around by him every night. Her body was in bad shape all over, especially today-it was truly appalling and unbearable to look at.

'For my body's well-being, I have to temporarily sleep separately from Carlos. At least I need to give my body some time to rest.' With that in mind, after changing clothes and turning to leave, Mikayla saw the glaring mess on the bed. That must have been left from last night.

Suddenly, in her mind, Mikayla remembered that moment from last night. Carlos's maic voice echoed in her ear, his hot breath against her ear. "Mika, I love you," Jaxon blurted.

With her gaze lingering for just a second, Mikayla left without any trace of nostalgia.

She thought, 'Perhaps being with Carlos for the rest of this life is not a bad idea after all.'

As Mikayla walked downstairs, a thought flashed through her mind. She saw Carlos already seated in the fully glassed dining room, reading the paper and waiting for her to come down. It seemed to have become a habit for him.

Mikayla still sat across from Carlos.

Dexter noticed that they were both seated and began serving breakfast, one dish at a time.

However, in front of her, there seemed to be an extra bowl of herbal soup with a strong medicinal aroma. It didn't quite seem to match the other dishes on the table.

"This was something Mr. Ludwig asked me to add this morning. He said Mrs. Ludwig had a tough night," Dexter explained before excusing himself and stepping away.

Mikayla thought, 'Did Carlos almost put up a banner outside celebrating our first night together? Is he planning to announce our relationship to the world? And can't Butler Dexter be a little less candid?'

After hearing Dexter's words, Mikayla was almost left jaw-dropped. She thought, 'Will I be able to finish this breakfast happily?'

"Mika, you need to take better care of yourself. Your body is too weak." Carlos looked at Mikayla with concern.

Last night, before even reaching halfway, she couldn't bear it and began to beg for mercy. Her future marital bliss depended on her endurance. Therefore, for every meal Mikayla shared with Carlos, a pumpkin stew became a necessity at the dining table.

"Carlos, do you want me to thank you for your kindness?" Mikayla said through clenched teeth.

"Rather than gratitude in words, I'd prefer you to repay me with your body," Carlos mischievously smirked.

"You're being too optimistic." Mikayla picked up a pudding and, after finishing it, grandly announced, "Carlos, for the sake of my health, starting tonight we will sleep in separate rooms until my body is better, then we can share a room again."

"Mika," Carlos said sadly.

"This is my decision, not something to negotiate with you. Whether you want a happy sexual life in the future, the power of decision is in your hands." Mikayla said.

When Carlos tried to protest, Mikayla stopped him in his tracks.

"Take your time with your meal. I've already called Josiah to come pick me up." After wiping the oil stains off her lips, Mikayla put on a faint smile, bid farewell to Carlos, and said goodbye.

Dejected, Carlos watched Mikayla's back as she walked away.

Afterward, he lowered his head and looked sadly at his own body.

Carlos thought, 'I really have overdone it last night. It seems I have to endure for now. I've only just begun to enjoy sex! It is a torture to have to endure it.'

Once outside, Josiah was already waiting for her. Used to living in the military base, he was accustomed to waking up early. Unexpectedly, he received a call from Mikayla asking him to come pick her up.

However, Josiah never inquired about the reason.

Mikayla got into the car, and Josiah sat in the driver's seat, ready to drive.

Inside the car, Mikayla remained silent, and Josiah didn't seem likely to start a conversation either.

Mikayla had always been curious

about the group of people around Carlos. Except for Kashton being a bit lively, everyone else seemed reserved and loyal to Carlos. Carlos was undeniably charming, but they were no less, so why did they all follow his lead?

After being married for so long, there was still a mystery of Carlos.

The car drove along the streets of Xosa, moving slowly due to the rush hour traffic Usually, she would leave a bit earlier to avoid the peak

This morning, she was delayed due to last night's events, coincidentally aligning with the rush hour.

Mikayla Gazed out the window to find out that the sunlight pierced through thick clouds, reflecting a captivating brilliance. It illuminated this familiar city amidst bustling life.

In the quiet car, Mikayla's phone suddenly rang.

Mikayla glanced at the caller ID and answered. "Hey, Lucas."

"Where are you right now, Mikayla?" Lucas's voice was mature and powerful.

"I'm on my way to the office," Mikayla replied.

"Do you have time after work?" Lucas asked.

"Is there any progress on that matter?" Mikayla inquired, glancing through the rearview mirror at

Josiah in the driver's seat. Surprisingly, Josiah was also looking at her through the mirror upon

hearing her mention the call

Lucas's voice came through, his tone neither good nor bad. "Alright."

Mikayla thought, 'What kind of response is that?'

Taking her gaze away, Mikayla furrowed her brow slightly. "I'll come straight over after work, then."

"Okay, I'll be waiting," Lucas replied.

Then, the phone was hung up.

Mikayla stared at the words "call ended" and pursed her lips.

She thought, 'I wonder if Lucas found any evidence?'

But now was not the time for such thoughts. She still had to face a day of work.

Her personal affairs would have to wait until after work to be resolved.

The car finally started moving forward.

The traffic seemed to have cleared compared to earlier.

After a while, the black sedan calmly pulled over in front of the Salvatore Group office building.

"After work, please come pick me up again. I'll talk to Carlos about it," Mikayla said to Josiah before getting out of the car.

"Alright, Mrs. Ludwig," Josiah replied.
