Chapter 12
Days later
It has been a couple of days since Eve has been working as my secretary, and all these few days, I am sure I have frustrated her more than enough. I don’t know why but for some unknown reasons, I just don’t like her. The joy I always have whenever I see that angry look on her face is just too priceless. You won’t blame me for doing this, would you? She’s crazy and needs to have more manners as a member of this company. She wasn’t on her best behavior when I came here, which is why she’s going through all of these now. It’s fun, anyway.
Picking up the office telephone a few minutes later, I put a call through to my annoying secretary, and one minute already passed before she answer the call.
“I’m working. What is it now?” Her lazy voice sounds through the phone, and I roll my eyes. I guess she must’ve been so tired from the workload on her, but does it look like I care? I mean, what is she paid for, if not to do her job diligently?
“Come in,” I drop the call afterward, and I can bet the look on her face right now. The door creaks open a few minutes later, and she drags her feet into my office.
“That was a whole lot of time to get here, you know,” I check my wristwatch, while she just rolls her eyes.
“Do I need to explain that I was working on the killing work you gave me?” The way she speaks to me with so much disrespect is annoying, but I won’t ever sack her. I know that’s what she wants, but I’ll never do that.
“That’s disrespectful, you know?” I roll my eyes.
“Did you call me here to lecture me as always?” She glares hard at me, and I scoff.
“Get me the files for last week’s transactions, my schedule for the week, and also the number of appointments I’m having for the week. Fast,” I say to her while having all my attention on the screen of the computer. I’m so choked up with work for the rest of the week as I have many deadlines to meet.
She turns around and drags her feet out of my office without saying a word.
I’ll be having an appointment with some of my clients by tomorrow, and although I’m feeling reluctant about the appointment, but I think taking Eve with me won’t be a bad idea.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
The door opens a few minutes later, followed by Eve’s footsteps.
“Get ready, Eve, we’re going together to a business dinner date by 9pm tomorrow,” She angrily drops the files on my desk, and slams her hands on my desk, almost getting me startled.
“Are you by chance talking to me?” She sneers at me with anger resounding in her voice as she glares down at me.
“Don’t ask me a stupid question, Eve. If you got nothing to say, you can use the door. As you can see, I’m busy now,” I say to her dismissively.
“Are you being serious right now, huh? The last time I checked, my work here ends once it’s 5pm, so I don’t think I understand you. Is that some joke or something? You aren’t expecting me to leave my house and go out with you in the night, when I should be resting, for some fucking appointment, huh?” She scoffs angrily.
“I’ve had enough of this, Jayden, I’ve had enough of all this bullshit! Why not just sack me, and let me go? Is this how much you really want to frustrate me? For heaven’s sake, I’ve been trying so much to tolerate you, but the more I try to, the more you keep pushing me to the wall. What’s the meaning of this?” She yells angrily, while I just stare at her, enjoying every bit of her drama. You can say that I’m crazy. Well, we both are. This is exactly what I want, seeing her frustrated gives me so much joy, and I won’t ever stop driving her nut.
“Do you realize that I’m your boss?” I snap at her sarcastically.
“Screw you, Jayden! You’re not my damn boss, your dad is, so don’t think you can boss me around,” She snaps again.
“Can you keep it down, Eve? Are you going to bring down the building, huh? You’re making a mountain out of nothing, so just take a chill pill and relax,” I roll my eyes at her.
“You know what, Jayden? You’re out of your mind. You’re fucking losing it, and I’m not in for that shit, accept it or not. I’m going nowhere with you for some appointment shit. If you can’t go alone, or find someone else to go there with you, then that’s your problem, so deal with it,” She snaps again while glaring hard at me. Well, I know she’s just trying to piss me off so I will sack her, but that’s a dream that’ll never come true for her. I will never think of it, let alone do it.
“Eve, don’t you think…” The sound of my ringing phone distracts me, and I quickly answer the call.
“Hello, Mr. Anderson,” I say to the caller as soon as I answer the call.
“Hello, Mr. Jayden. Sorry for the late reply, I have been busy the whole week and didn’t even have enough time. Can you schedule a meeting for us in an hour? I’m leaving the country in three hours, so I would like to meet with you in the next one hour, so we can seal the contract,” He says over the phone.
“I won’t be able to come over, but not to worry, I’m sending someone to you,” I say to him.
“Alright. I’ll be expecting that then. I will send you the address after the call,” He says before the call drops.
“Get ready, you’re going to attend a meeting on my behalf, now,” I say to her, and she scoffs.
“Are you by chance talking to me?” She asks.
“Don’t waste my time,” I say to her…
