Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Chapter 17 After Trevor got back to Christopher’s house, Christopher got straight to his point the moment the young man sat down at the dining table. “Have you decided on a wedding date?” Naturally, Christopher was referring to Trevor and Crystal’s wedding date. Crystal had started showing up at the Bateson Residence ever since Emma and Trevor got a divorce. Even though Trevor had never explicitly stated anything about Crystal, the whole family assumed that they were dating one another. This was mainly due to Crystal’s excessive promotion of how sweet her relationship with Trevor was. She often spoke as if they were about to get married any time soon. That was why Christopher was surprised to hear Trevor’s answer. “No.” “Hurry up and get it over with,” Christopher ordered. Trevor glared at his old man upon hearing this. Truth was, Christopher had never been a fan of Crystal. Crystal was relatively closer to Trevor’s mother at home, but Christopher had never once looked Crystal in the eye. He clearly didn’t approve of the woman. Therefore, Trevor felt rather puzzled and frustrated to have Christopher, out of all people, rushing him to get married. Christopher picked up some vegetables with his fork and munched on them before speaking. “Once you get married, I can focus on finding a good man for Emma.” Trevor nearly spat out the food that he had just put into his mouth. “What do you mean by that?” He glared at his grandfather, but Christopher only scoffed in response. “What I mean is that I really like Emma and that I want to take her in as my god-granddaughter. So, my priority now is to find her a reliable and nice man.” Trevor could no longer keep his calm when he noticed that his grandfather wasn’t fooling around at all. “Do you think it makes sense for my ex-wife to become my godsister, Grandpa?” Trevor asked with a straight face. “What’s the issue? I care for her, and I feel bad for her. How is she supposed to live the rest of her life with that irresponsible father and that brother of hers?” Christopher didn’t seem bothered by what Trevor said. After letting out a long sigh, he continued, “Ah—I’m afraid I am to blame for this as well. If I didn’t force you guys to get married, she might have found a good guy by now. She wouldn’t have wasted three years of her precious youth just like that.”
At this point, Trevor was rather annoyed. Is he even my biological grandfather? He’s Emma’s grandfather, isn’t he? He only thinks about the three years that Emma wasted, but what about me? I wasted three years too! “What do you think about Zachary? Is he a good fit for Emma?” Christopher asked thoughtfully. Trevor’s expression was so dark that he nearly blended in with the black furniture around him. “Do you think a playboy like Zachary would suit her?” “What’s wrong with a playboy? You never know when a person might change. Perhaps Zachary would stay loyal to Emma after they start dating.” Christopher disagreed with Trevor’s viewpoint. “Ha!” Trevor scoffed in response. He’d like to see if Zachary would have the guts to date someone like Emma. Despite his old age, Christopher was really energetic and driven—he pulled his phone out to call Zachary right there and then. Trevor and Zachary had been friends for years, so their families had often interacted with one another. Zachary was, therefore, no stranger to Christopher. Christopher turned his hands-free mode on before he asked Zachary with a wide grin on his face, “Hey, Zachary. What have you been up to?” Upon hearing that, Zachary responded in a rather playful tone, “Oh—you know me. Just busy with random stuff, I guess. Is anything the matter, Old Mr. Christopher?” he asked. “Well, I’d like to get you a girlfriend, Zachary,” Christopher said with a nod.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
