“But who could have done that” she asked as she ruffled her hair .

” That’s a question for another day Cathy, now you will have to look for her” he said.

She thought for a moment as she looked straight at Dementrio as if he could read her thoughts.

” I will check the Chester’s mansion today” she said as she sighed softly.

” Can you keep this as a secret?”

She raised her eyebrows confused as she gave him a puzzled look.

” I mean, we don’t really know the truth about everything, so it will be nice if you don’t tell your husband or Mr. Anderson this information” he explained.

” Sure, I won’t ” .

” Promise? ” He asked as he brought out his palm.

His gesture made Cathy surprised and she had to accept.

” Yes, I promise” she answered placing her palm on his, he held her fingers lightly before releasing her still maintaining eye contact with her .

” Are you okay Dementrio?” She asked closely.

“Er… Yes am fine” he stammered.

Honestly he didn’t understand what was happening to him, he felt really weird.

Was the cold hearted Dementrio suddenly becoming soft minded?

” You can talk to me, you know we were friends right from college” she said as she raised him up from his squatting position to sit beside her on the couch.

” It’s nothing Cathy, am just worried about you?” He answered without thinking.

” Worried about me? Good Heavens! What’s going on with you Mr. Dementrio?” She couldn’t help but ask as she suppressed a chuckle.

” So you think am going crazy?” He asked as he suddenly turned cold with fierce looking eyes, she suddenly became scared and fidgeted .

He rolled in laughter after a while as he spoke up,

” I got you!”.

It dawned on her that he was actually making fun of her.

” You really scared me and your laughing about it” she said as she tapped him hardly.

” Honestly I don’t know what’s wrong Cathy, I felt strange since yesterday” he answered honestly.

” Tell me what happened, am all ears” she said.

He looked at her and was convinced he could trust her, he slowly narrated his encounter with Rhea to her hiding everything about Cindy.

A maid came before he could give a reply to her.

“Ma’am the breakfast table is ready just like you ordered” she said, bowed and left immediately.

Cathy Wondered helplessly at Dementrio as he continued rolling in laughter.

” I don’t like my breakfast cold” she said as she left the room in furry.

Dementrio didn’t follow her immediately, he had to compose himself before going with her .

He got to the table and met Cathy already eating, her face was expressionless so he couldn’t tell if she was Still angry but not withstanding he maintained composure.

The last thing he wanted was to have a fight with her .

They sat quietly before he found the guts to talk to her.

” Cathy am really sorry, I didn’t mean to make you feel embarrassed but just so you know, am not in love with her, I just like her ; it’s nothing like love” he explained.

She nodded as she continued her food.

They heard a car horn and she guessed it was Axl .

Axl entered the room and looked straight at his wife first before his best friend.

” Dementrio, your having breakfast” He said as he sat opposite him.

Before he could answer Cathy cut him off and said,

” Yes, I told him to stay for breakfast”.

” Can I ask you a question Cathy?” Axl asked.

” Depends on the question” she answered plainly.

” What do you want, love or money” he asked.

She stopped eating including Dementrio, her eyes were filled with questions and confusions.

” What do you mean by that Axl?”

” Exactly what you heard Cathy” .

Dementrio had already stopped eating a while ago and was watching the couple confused.

” I want nothing from you Axl, I should be the one asking you what you want, Axl you are nothing without me” she yelled hitting the table which spilled their teas .

Cathy couldn’t take it anymore, she stormed out of the dinning area in furry.

” Is it because of the new woman you met?” He asked whispering.

” I want to divorce Cathy ” he exposed lightly.

Dementrio took the news cool, like he expected it.

He touched Axl’s forehead for a fever, it was hot and he guessed that was the cause of his foolish behavior.

“Hey you” he called out to a maid who just passed to take Cathy’s breakfast upstairs to her room.

” Get me a glass of water, pain killers and sleeping tablets” he ordered.

Axl stood there staring blank at space for about 2 minutes before the maid distracted him.

“What are those for ?” He asked.

” To make you feel better and remove foolishness from you” Dementrio answered.

“Your acting like my father” he mocked as he laughed.

Dementrio drew closer to him and smelt alcohol instantly.

He must have been drinking, he thought.

“Take have some of the painkillers” he said handing him a few tablets of different drugs

Axl took them obediently and walked on his own to the guest room.
