Chapter 2210
Chapter 2210
At 11 o'clock in the evening, I leaned against the sofa and fell asleep.
I was still thinking about Hendrix and wasn't in a very deep sleep. I heard the sound of the door opening in the corridor and footsteps that sounded intentionally quiet.
He had opened the door and walked in. He then gently approached me, took off his coat and placed it on me.
When I opened my eyes, Hendrix had knelt beside the sofa/. He was about to carry me back into the room. When he noticed that I had woken up, he patted my head and said, "Didn't I tell you that you didn't have to wait for me? Why didn't you go to sleep?"
He called me during dinner, saying that he had to deal with a multinational meeting and wouldn't be able to come back until after midnight.
I propped myself up with the help of the sofa's armrest. I was still slightly dazed. "I can't sleep when you aren't home."
Hendrix laughed at me because I was being childish. "If I don't work overtime, if something goes wrong, I won't be able to guarantee your safety and the children's, for the rest of our lives. I would be very unhappy if that happens."
"How are we in danger when you're still doing fine?" I scolded, "We'll never be able to spend all our money. You don't need to work as hard as before. If anything happens to your health, you can't make up for it no matter how much money you spend."
Hendrix smiled, lowered his head and helped me put on my slippers for me. He helped me to the bedroom and said, "I'm still healthy and everything is going well for me. I know, none of that can be exchanged for money. Rome wasn't built in a day. In order to keep our family safe, we can't relax for even a moment. We have to take it as though we are walking on thin ice."
I understand what he meant. The bigger a business got, the more responsibilities you would have. I wasn't afraid of accidents, but I was very concerned about other people plotting against us.
I hadn't waited this long just to talk business with Hendrix. Besides, I wasn't sleepy after napping earlier. I hoped to get an honest answer out of Hendrix tonight.
Hendrix helped me to the bedside, bent down and fiddled with my hands. Then, he suddenly said, "Honey, what would you do if you suddenly found out that I wasn't a good man at all?"
I was confused about this. "What do you mean by not good? What's wrong?"
After a brief pause, I said thoughtfully, "When we got married, you weren't very good to me. But I followed you through thick and thin and now, here we are.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Old married couples were bound to talk about these weird topics.
One of the greatest expressions of love was when someone was willing to confess something about them to you. Unlike enemies, who would hate each other and disagree on everything, we were much closer and sturdier than that.
Hendrix hung his head low as he smiled. He then repeated the question, "I mean what if I'm not as good as you think I am, or what if was a selfish person? Someone who only cared about himself and would casually sacrifice other people for his own interests. Would d you despise me?"
Sure enough, be it men or women, everyone would become a chatterbox when they had something they needed to get off their chest.
We were practically living under the
same roof, so there was nothing to be embarrassed about. I simply reached out and held his face,
forcing him to look into my eyes
"Hendrix, look at me." "I am your wife, I love you and I will always be by your side. This will never change, understand?"
He blinked, then relaxed and smiled. After quickly hiding his smile, he said, "I understand."
Why was he still hesitating to tell me the truth even after I had patiently comforted him? How much longer did I have to wait?
