Chapter 2195
Chapter 2195
The room was silent for some time. Then, Hendrix said with his deep voice, "I had a friend who passed away, that is his sister. I treated her like my own sister, but she kept hurting your mother and frequently crossed many lines. We've become enemies ever since."
Anne still hadn't said anything. However, based on her expression, it seemed like she had understood.
Hendrix then asked inquisitively, "You don't believe me?"
Anne shook her head and said, "I do believe you."
After a brief pause, she looked up at us and added, "I will make her pay for what she did today."
"Good." Hendrix nodded and seemed to have thought about something. He instructed casually, "Go and rearrange your schedule. You're coming with us to Ucrebury tomorrow."
"Okay," Anne blurted out. After thinking for a moment, she felt that something was wrong and asked with some concern, "But after what happened just now, would it be okay for me to leave right now..."
Hendrix shook his index finger and said, "They've already achieved their goal. They won't be taking any action for the moment. Just go ahead and arrange for it."
"Got it. I'll do it now." Anne agreed, then stood up and left the room.
After she had walked off far away enough, I pushed Hendrix's arm and asked, "Why are we going to Ucrebury?"
Hendrix smiled and played innocent. "Why do you think so?"
Aside from it being my hometown, we had some old friends in Ucrebury. Anne didn't live in Ucrebury for very long and didn't have much of an impression of the place. There was only one remaining possibility.
Monique.
"It's time to pay her visit." It felt like a huge rock had suddenly pressed down on my heart. I felt upset and looked downwards. I muttered to myself, "Grandpa as well. Aurelia and the others have yet to send their prayers to him."
All of the most important people in my life were buried in Ucrebury.
Thinking about them reminded me of just how fragile life was. The more you wanted to grab onto something, the faster you would lose it.
I was feeling quite emotional and my face wasn't hiding any of it.
Hendrix pulled me into his arms. He massaged my shoulders with his thick palms and comforted me. "They'll be happy if we live our lives well."
Although I knew that he was just trying his best to comfort me, I couldn't help but feel emotional. I leaned on his chest and sighed, "If could turn back time, I would really want to return to the past when tg everybody was happy. Even though we didn't love each other that deeply, they were all healthy and safe. Unlike now, where we barely know each other and only ever have passing conversations." Content

Hendrix took a deep breath and responded. "I guess you'll have to blame me for all of that."
I sat up from his chest and looked at
his chin which had stubble on it.
"You're talking nonsense again.
We've agreed not to talk about what Nathan had done. Yet, here you are,
complaining and placing all the blame on yourself again?"
"I'm not talking about that." Hendrix laughed. He placed his large palm on the back of my head and pulled me back to his chest. His warm and thick palm rubbed my hair as he said, "It's because I just can't stop myself from loving you." Content

"If my love for you was any lesser than it is now, we wouldn't be like this right now."
My heart suddenly felt calm. It was as though a gentle breeze had blown all my troubles away.
Maybe he was right. Fate worked in mysterious ways. If there was even the slightest of variables, we might not be where we are together right now, enjoying each other's warmth and heartbeats.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
