Ruth anxiously stopped Skylar from hanging up the phone.

"Skylar, are you ending the call so quickly because you don't like me? Is it because of what Dad and Mom did to my brothers recently, so you don't like me either?

"I... I didn't mean for this to happen. I never wanted my illness to burden you. I didn't know they would bring reporters to pressure my brothers to save me."

"You're overthinking it. That matter is already over, and everyone knows who is right and wrong. If that was what you really thought, it shows that you're a kind-hearted person.

She wasn't his daughter anyway. Thinking back to how fond he once was of Skylar, he felt like he had wasted his sincerity back then.

Miriam gritted her teeth. "What a wretch! She knows perfectly well who she really is-she's not your daughter, and yet she dares to show such an attitude to Ruth!

"Ruth invited her to Murida, yet she refused to come! She even said everyone living their own lives peacefully is for the best.

"How is this the best? How is Ruth's situation in any way good? Why is she healthy while our Ruth is the one who's sick?"

Ruth bit her lip hard, her eyes filled with hatred. "Exactly! Why do I have to be the one who's sick? Why is Skylar so beautiful, healthy, and perfect? "And my brothers-I'm their only sister, but they don't care about me at all. Is it so hard for them to give me a kidney so I can survive?"

She didn't want to die. She was still so young, with so many dreams yet to be fulfilled.

She had been pampered and spoiled all her life, always getting what she wanted.
