My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul

Chapter 1538

The other three ignored Charles.

All of them had loved eating ribs since they were kids, and today's ribs were especially delicious.

Harvey quickly grabbed two pieces while he had the chance.

His action made Charles' mouth twitch. After glaring at Harvey, he answered the phone.

"Is the company planning to suspend my work? You can agree on my behalf. I could use the break. If the company wants to terminate my contract, I'm fine with that too," Charles said nonchalantly.

And he truly was nonchalant. These messy rumors meant nothing for the moment.

It wouldn't take long for the truth to come out, exposing the true faces of those stirring up trouble.

"The company did say to give you a few days off. The public may not understand you, but I do. And so does the company. We know this is probably the other side trying to create a buzz. But... is that man really your father?" Freddie asked.

Charles didn't deny it. "Biologically, yes. But he abandoned my mom and us for over 20 years and didn't raise me. So, you tell me does he really count as my father?"

"Got it. I'm working on a PR strategy. Earlier, when you were questioned on the live stream, the footage was broadcast in real-time, making this a tricky situation to handle. I'll figure something out," Freddie said, clearly taking his role seriously.

Charles replied, "No need for PR. Leave it alone. The company doesn't need to intervene either. This will all be resolved soon-just wait." Freddie hesitated. "Are you... eating?"

"Yeah, having dinner. If there's nothing else, I'll hang up. Gotta get back to the table before all the ribs are gone. Honestly, the other dishes are almost finished too."

Freddie was speechless. How could he still have the appetite to eat with all this going on? Was Charles really so good at handling stress? Any other artist would've been panicking by now, pacing back and forth in anxiety. Heck, Freddie himself hadn't managed to eat a bite all day.

It seemed like he was more worried than the person involved.

Unaware of Freddie's internal struggle, Charles carried on with his meal. Even if the sky fell, it couldn't stop him from eating.

"Why don't all of you just stay the night? It's been ages since we had dinner and chatted together like this," Charles suggested.

Since they'd grown up, everyone had gone their own ways-working, studying, getting married. It was hard for them to gather as a family.

Skylar checked the time and said, "I'm heading home. Joe will be picking me up in ten minutes."

"I need to go too. Your sister-in-law is pregnant, and I don't feel comfortable leaving her home alone," Steven added.

Harvey grinned at Charles. "Charles, looks like it's just us two bachelors left. Let's chat and strategize—how many more trending topics should we buy?"

Charles' mouth twitched in

exasperation. "This is exactly why I don't want to get married. Look how tied down they are! Fine, the two of us can drink and talk tonight We don't need them."

As soon as he finished, Steven smacked him on the head. "Watch your mouth, and don't lead Harvey astray."

Charles winced, rubbing his head.

"Harvey's too sharp for me to

corrupt I'm just speaking the truth! Besides, most young people these days don't want to get married.

"You and Skylar were lucky to find good partners, but that doesn't

mean the two of us will. And

anyway, Harvey just graduated-he should focus on his career. Thenoveldrama

fewer women, the fewer problems."

"Charles, maybe Harvey already has a girlfriend," Skylar teased with a smile. She knew that plenty of girls had pursued Harvey during his time at university.

Harvey quickly protested, "I don't have a girlfriend! And I don't plan to date anyone for the next few years."

During his time in university, he'd seen too many superficial girls, leaving him a little allergic to the idea of having a girlfriend.

Deep down, he felt Charles had a point.
