Chapter 3: Get the Cold Shoulder
Chapter 3: Get the Cold Shoulder
"Adam, do you feel refreshed after taking a shower?"
Seeing Adam coming downstairs, Julia, who had just come out of the kitchen, rushed over and pulled him to the table.
"Sit down.Look, these are all your favorite food."
Adam nodded slightly and took a seat.
Arthur looked up at the second floor and saw Rebecca still crouching there.
He let out a sigh and said, "Rebecca, come downstairs and eat with us!"
"Got it."
Rebecca nodded and went downstairs.
She walked to the seat beside Adam and sat down.
At this time, Adam slammed his chopsticks down.
Rebecca frowned slightly with her head down.
Arthur looked at his son and took a deep breath.
"Adam, you had a car accident. If it hadn't been for Rebecca, you would have died."
Adam stared at Arthur and sneered, "I know that, but why should I repay her with my marriage?"
Arthur's face darkened slightly when he heard Adam's question.
"Isn't she good? She's beautiful and competent.I think she’s much better than Linda Green""
Adam suddenly stood up.
"Adam!"
Julia hurriedly stood up, ran to Adam, held his hand, and almost cried, "You're still feeble after being unconscious for a long time.Anger harms your body, so just calm down and have a peaceful talk with your father.’
"Mom, I'll only marry Linda in my life."
Adam looked into Julia's eyes and said firmly.
"How dare you! You will never have the chance to marry her as long as you're part of my family or I'm still alive."
Arthur roared angrily.
"Fine, Dad, I'll cut off the relationship with you!"
Adam replied resolutely and went out.
Adam...
Julia immediately caught up with him and grabbed his arm, saying in a sobbing voice, "You won't leave us for the sake of Linda, will you?"
Adam gave a hesitant frown.
"Take Adam back to his room, and don't allow him to leave here without my permission."
Arthur closed his eyes and instructed the servant.
"Yes, Mr.William.’ The servant nodded and walked towards Adam.
"Humph, I'll go back myself"
Adam sneered and went upstairs with a sullen face, followed by Julia.
Rebecca was just sitting there as if she was an outsider! Afraid that Adam would get hungry because he didn't eat a little at dinner, Rebecca went to the door of his room with freshly cooked food in her hand.
However, after several knocks, there was still no response from the inside.
She was about to knock again when the door opened and Adam came out with an impatient look.
"Don't disturb me!"
With that, he turned around and walked towards the window of his room as he was talking to someone on the phone.
"It's just a servant."
"Go to sleep early.I'll see you tomorrow."
"Okay, good night!"
"I love you!"
Rebecca was just standing quietly at the door.
‘It turns out that Adam will be so gentle and considerate.
But why does he dislike me so much? Am I too ugly? Or did I offend him?’ After hanging up the phone, Adam turned around and saw Rebecca still standing there with a gloomy face.
"Why are you still here? What the hell do you want?"
"Please eat it.You haven't eaten anything. No matter what, you have to pay attention to your health.’ Adam was surprised by her caring words.
But soon, he put on a cold face again.
"There is no need.By the way, what do you need so that you can leave my family?"
Rebecca put the tray on the table in front of the sofa and said calmly, "I'm your lawfully wedded wife. Why should I leave?"
"My lawfully wedded wife?"
Adam stared at Rebecca and snorted, "Don't go too far.I haven't seen you before. When did we hold a marriage?"
Rebecca frowned slightly and raised her head.
"It doesn't matter that you didn't know me before. We can start our relationship now:’
Adam felt ridiculous and satirized, "You're not my cup of tea, now and forever.’
Rebecca slightly moved her lips but didn't say anything at last. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
She placed the food on the table, and then stood up to walk out.
Adam was inexplicably annoyed.
He yanked Rebecca's wrist, pulled her back, and looked at her fiercely.
"Are you deaf? Didn't you hear me?"
Rebecca felt very painful as if her bones were being crushed.
But she didn't exclaim or even frown.
"I won't leave forever.’ Rebecca knew that her mother and Arthur would not let her leave now.
Adam gritted his teeth and let go of her hand.
"Get out!"
Rebecca then left and closed the door.
Seeing her leaving in depression, Adam couldn't help but frown.
After leaving Adam's room, Rebecca immediately walked to the study and knocked on the door.
"Come in!"
Arthur’s voice came from the inside.
"What do you want from me?"
Hearing Rebecca's voice, Arthur raised his head and said coldly, "Rebecca, now Adam's heart is fully occupied by another woman. As his wife, you have to know how to please him and win his heart, got it?"
Rebecca nodded, "Yes."
Arthur nodded in satisfaction, "Go to have a rest!"
"Dad,"
Rebecca suddenly said as Arthur lowered his head and resumed his work.
"What's up?"
"I...I'm going back to school tomorrow.Since my father was gone, I have been working part-time to pay my tuition and living expenses, but this summer..."
"I see."
Arthur interrupted her.
He then looked at the butler beside him and instructed, "Transfer 500,000 dollars to Rebecca's account later"
The butler nodded, "Yes, Mr.William."
"Dad, it's too much."
Rebecca immediately refused.
"Now that you are my daughter-in-law, you have to be dressed well.Go to buy some new clothes."
Rebecca looked down at her faded jeans and could only agree.
"Thank you, Dad."
"By the way, you're in the second year of postgraduate, aren't you?"
"Yes, "Then don't live in the dormitory anymore.
Come back every day so as to develop your relationship with Adam.’ "Got it, Dad"
"That's it for today. You can go to sleep now.’
"Good night, Dad."
Rebecca walked out of the study and helped close the door.
She then looked around in confusion and sighed in her heart.
‘Where can I go now? Adam won't let me sleep in his room: Despite many people in this luxurious villa, she felt lonely as if she wasn't part of this family.
‘No, I can't just give up like this.No matter what, I gotta have a try: Rebecca summoned up the courage to walk to Adam's room…”
