Chapter 397
"Margot, I'm not coming over. Get some rest," he said, his voice steady but firm, as he slowly ended the call. Ignoring the pleas on the other end, he hung up and turned off his phone. With a sigh, he fired up the engine, hit the gas, and headed towards another posh In the dead of night, the doorbell rang unexpectedly.
apartment complex.
Jaime and his 24-inch legged companion had just wrapped up the prelude and were on the brink of the main act when they nearly jumped out of their skins. Jaime sprang out of bed, hastily pulling on a bathrobe, his temper flaring as he stormed towards the door. Who in their right mind would interrupt him at this hour? Whoever it was, they'd better brace themselves for a beatdown, or he might as well reverse his name!
Muttering curses under his breath, Jaime yanked open the door, ready to unleash his fury, but froze when he saw Everett standing there, looking even more annoyed than he was. Damn it, just his luck!
Feigning ignorance, Jaime snapped, "Wrong door!" and tried to slam it shut.
But Everett, quick as ever, wedged his hand in the doorway, pushed it open, and barged past Jaime into the living room. Making himself at home, he flopped onto the sofa, grabbed an open bottle of wine from the coffee table, and poured himself a glass. Jaime could practically feel his heart breaking this was the price of bad friends!
Hearing the commotion, the long-legged woman called out from the bedroom. Everett, without so much as a glance, ordered coolly, "Tell her to clear out."
Swallowing the urge to toss Everett out the window, Jaime reminded himself repeatedly that this was his brother from another mother, the one he'd shared childhood secrets with. Bros before... well, you know. With a resigned sigh, he trudged back to the bedroom. After a few sharp slaps, the woman dressed and stormed out. She paused in the living room at the sight of the strikingly handsome man, huffed in frustration, and left, even more annoyed.
What a twist! She had assumed it was another girlfriend showing up, but no-it was a guy?
Rich folks are just... peculiar! Handsome, sure, but still peculiar!
Moments later, Jaime, sporting two red handprints on his face, settled across from Everett, glaring daggers at him.
His love life was in shambles, and he couldn't catch a break.
What a jerk!
Jaime exhaled a heavy sigh, took a gulp of wine, and finally spoke, "Everett, this isn't like you. How many times has this happened?"
Since Selena filed for divorce, it

must've been over a year now. The number of times Everett drowned his sorrows over her had only grown.
He tapped the glass lightly on the table, "Are you sure you don't like Selena? Why stick around if you don't? There's a line of women eager to become Mrs. Bennett stretching from here to Paris. And don't forget Margot, who's still waiting for you to give her the green light!"
But Everett stayed silent, sipping his wine, revealing nothing about his thoughts.
Jaime studied him for a while, then had a eureka moment, his inner Sherlock Holmes kicking in.
"Or is it that you're still hung up on your old flame? If that's the case, why not find her and let Selena go?"

and now, he just felt sorry for her.
He expected Everett to evade the question about his old flame as usual, but this time, Everett quietly uttered a few words.
"I found her."
He'd found her??
This revelation caught Jaime off guard, and he quickly followed up, "Then... where is she?"
If that were true, maybe Selena could finally have a shot at a peaceful divorce.
