Married To Mr Arrogant

Chapter Thirty Six

Subtitle: My Contract Marriage

Written by: Marvy Hyacinth

Unknown Dad’s POV)

I had gone to my Company to take care of some paperwork I’d kept pending overtime.

Today was a free day for me, but I knew if I didn’t do it today, I wouldn’t get the chance to because my schedules were usually packed.

Why couldn’t I work at home?

The thing is, being divorced… Everything in my home reminded me of my ex wife Christine.

The memories were stuck in my head like glue and that’d distract me from finishing up my work on time, thus I preferred doing them in my office at P&P printing CO.

As a Paper printing company with a good reputation and a lot of investors, I had to work every time to make sure the investors were satisfied with the income they were receiving.

Finally done with the paperwork, I headed toward Simon’s house.

Simon was a very good friend of mine, we were such good friends we both invested in each other’s company.

Though he was doing better.

Being NO. 1 isn’t a measly thing.

Even when his son and my princess split, we remained great friends.

That’s how close we are.

He’s older than me though.

I was home playing an indoor golf game since it was a Sunday and this was the only day I could officially not go to work.

Not like if I wanted to be absent from work for about a day or two, I’d be questioned but I took it as a challenge to work daily to make sure I still controlled most of my company shares.

After all, I couldn’t have another person snatching what I worked hard to build for years, could I?

Anyway, I was home now, enjoying the golf I was playing.

Smiling, I stood up straight from the halfway bending position I was in when I kicked the golf ball with the golf stick and groaned.

My waist!

“Amish!”

The woman who I employed to take care of me in times like this came running to my side.

I had no family staying with me, so I got someone who would.

My wife?

I don’t want to talk about her …

“What is it, sir?”

She asked and held my arm as I couldn’t stop myself from leaning on her.

I’m Old after all.

“It’s nothing Barb. It’s just a twitch.”

I replied to her as I tried to stop myself from leaning toward her.

I think my reply must have convinced her a bit because she loosened her grip on me.

I saw that the golf ball had returned to me, so I shifted my attention back to it.

“I better go back to playing.”

I said and gave her a small smile to which she smiled back at.

‘Why was she still standing beside me?’

I thought confused.

She wasn’t allowed to stand beside me unless I asked her to or she was helping me.

I stared at her and I guess she noticed the disdain in my eyes because she stepped five feet away and stayed still with her head bowed and her hands folded in front of her.

She was posed as a maid to a king.

Well, I am a king after all.

I bent to continue my game, but soon I was shrieking in pain again.

My waist bone had cracked again, and this time it was worse than the last.

The 38-year-old Barb ran to my side immediately.

“Sir I think you should rest.”

Came her voice.

“No, I’m fine.”

I counteracted and tried to stand straight up to prove my point, but instead, I winced in pain.

It hurt asf.

“You are certainly not fine sir.”

Barb replied, collected the golf stick from my hand, and gently placed it on the small golf lawn patch I had made.

Slowly, she led me to my bedroom with my hand over her shoulders and her arm gripping my back and waist.

Yeah.

It was surely challenging with a broken waist and all, but we got to my bedroom at last.

Just as she’d helped me get in bed, the doorbell rang out.

Barb stared at me uncertain of leaving me alone to go get the door or staying with me.

“Go get the door.”

I told her and relieved, she went to get the door.

Some moments later, she was back up in my room.

“Who was that?”

I asked her.

“Sir, it’s Mr. Greg Patterson.”

She answered.

“Greg?”

I asked her to be sure and she nodded.

“Yes sir. He’s downstairs waiting for you.”

Barb answered.

“OK. Help me up then.”

Simon demanded.

Barb helped Simon up from his bed and led him down the stairs to the living room below.

“Greg.”

Simon called out as soon as his feet got off the stairs and were now leading him towards the figure sitting down on one of the couches.

Greg stood up from where he was sitting down and walked toward Simon in respect.

“Simon… How have you been?”

Greg asked when he met Simon halfway.

“I’ve been fine.”

Simon replied.

Greg looked at his friend’s side and saw Barb holding him up.

“Why’s she holding you up?”

Greg asked as he eyed the maid.

“I had a little problem with my waist while playing indoor golf.”

Simon answered and chuckled slightly at the end of his statement before moving towards the center of the living room where the couches were, with Greg trailing behind.

“If only you still come out to play golf at the golf course… I told you to come, but as always you’re stubborn.”

Greg chuckled with him.

Simon settled on his seat and laughed hard at Greg’s remark.

Greg sat opposite him and joined in the laugh.

“Can I get you something?”

Barb asked politely.

“Yes. A cup of coffee.”

Greg answered.

Barb turned to face Simon and asked him the same thing.

“I’ll just have tea. Make it thick and strong, no milk added.”

Simon ordered specifically.

“Alright, sir.”

Barb replied and took her to leave.

“But seriously, you used to come golfing before. Why’d you stop?”

Greg turned to Simon and asked with his lips thinned.

“I’ve been busy lately, that’s why.”

Simon answered.

“So busy you now skip healthy sports?”

Greg asked sarcastically.

“Oh Greg, don’t be sarcastic with me. I still sport, just indoors…”

Simon stated.

“Simon… You know what I mean. you don’t sport with us… Outdoors.”

Greg accused.

“Managing my company and overseeing the sub-companies ain’t a piece of cake Greg. I’ll make time to come sport with you oldies one day”

Simon said and Greg laughed.

“Like you ain’t an oldie too.”

He said and they both laughed.

That moment, Barb came in with a tray in her hands.

In the tray were two China mugs with their respective drinks in them.

“Here’s your Tea… No milk added.”

Barb announced while picking a mug from the tray and placing it on the table in front of Simon.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

Simon nodded in reply and Barb turned to Greg.

“And here’s your sir.”

“You can leave now.”

Greg said in reply she obeyed.

… She left.

“That reminds me… What brings you here?”

Simon asked Greg as soon as Barb had left with the tray.

“I came to see my friend.”

Greg stated plainly.

“We both know that ain’t true Greg. You only visit when you have something to say or request for.”

Simon bluntly replied, picked up his cup of tea and took a sip from it, and dropped it right back on the table.

“Wow… That was harsh.”

Greg adjusted his glasses.

“It’s the truth though.”

Simon replied, raised his Tea mug, and smirked.
