Chapter 13 Episode At The Opening Ceremony
Chapter 13 Episode At The Opening Ceremony
In the hall, Mr. Zhou was sitting on the stage, giving a speech at the opening ceremony. At the same
time, he was interpreting the opening ceremony with some exaggerated movement language.
Sitting under the stage, Clare listened to the speech while yawning and looking around.
Mr. Zhou's speech was so boring. Seeing that her classmates were all sleepy, but they had to hold their
chins with their hands and pretended to listen carefully, Clare also couldn't help but feel sleepy. Looking
at the stage again, the teachers were yawning like a competition.
Withdrawing her sight, Clare patted Lydia who was leaning against her and said, "Lydia, get up."
Lydia rubbed her eyes and asked in a daze, "Is it over?"
"Not yet," Celine replied her sister in a low voice, "I think it will take a few minutes."
Lydia leaned her head against Clare and closed her eyes again. "Then I'll sleep a little longer."
"Don't sleep." Clare pushed her up and said in a low voice, "I'll tell you something interesting."
As soon as people around heard that there was something interesting, they all came over with interest.
Clare looked at Mr. Zhou who was still concentrating on his speech on the stage and whispered to the
people around her, "I find that our beloved Mr. Zhou needs to learn Mandarin for another year."
"Why?" Vincent asked with great interest.
Clare smiled and said, "Didn't you hear that just now? Mr. Zhou's pronunciation is not up to standard. It
sounds funny ... Clare repeated Mr. Zhou's wrong pronunciation slowly and unhurriedly, and the people
around her couldn't help laughing in a low voice.
Sam looked at Clare with admiration, "Clare, you are so patient. How could you hear Mr. Zhou's boring
report from beginning to end?" That was not the patience of ordinary people.
"Ha ha. Our Mr. Zhou is so engrossed in his speech. Won't he be very sad if no one listen to him? "
Clare said with a smile.
After she finished her words, there was a sudden noise on the stage. Mr. Zhou, who was still
passionately making a speech, suddenly stopped. He pointed at the direction of Clare and shouted,
"That female classmate, please stand up."
All the teachers and students who were sleepy suddenly came to their senses because of this accident.
They looked at the person Mr. Zhou referred to -- Maggie Peng of class 0207, sitting in front of Clare.
Perhaps it was because Maggie Peng had just heard what Clare had said that she was amused and
forgot to hide, and was caught by Mr. Zhou on the stage. Hearing Mr. Zhou's words, Maggie Peng's
face turned red and the smile on her face froze.
Clare frowned slightly, and the introduction of Lydia to Maggie Peng flashed through her mind quickly:
good grades, but introverted, not willing to talk much, and not very existence in the class.
Maggie Peng looked at the stage uneasily and bit her lower lip unconsciously. Under the gaze of the
crowd, she trembled and wanted to stand up, but was pressed on the shoulder by a hand from behind.
"Don't look back and don't say anything. Just sit down. It's okay." She heard the person behind her
whispering to her. She knew that the person sitting behind her was Clare, the famous figure who had
just turned around. Although she didn't know why the person would say such words to her, she felt that
the person's voice was very pleasant to hear, and it was very reassuring. So she decided to trust her
and sat still.
But the next second, she heard people around her gasp in surprise.
She couldn't help but turn around, only to find that Clare had stood up for her.
"Clare?" Both Lydia and Celine looked at her in confusion; Cassie, Amy, Joe and Jill, who were sitting
in other places, sat straight at the same time; Vincent and Sam were surprised; as one of the student
representatives, Carl, who was sitting on the stage, frowned imperceptibly; as the second
representative of the student, John, who was sitting on the stage, gently shook hands with the speech
in the hand; and Fiona, who was the third representative of the student, a gloating smile appeared on
her face. The students in the audience began to discuss in a low voice, and the teachers began to
whisper on the stage.
Mr. Zhou took off his presbyopic glasses and rubbed his eyes. "Did he just call her? Did this girl know
what she was doing?
Clare blinked innocently, "Mr. Zhou, what can I do for you?"
Seeing that Mr. Zhou's face turned red and blue in an instant, all the people present quieted down.
They had a bad feeling that Mr. Zhou was going to lose his temper!
Sure enough, the next second, Mr. Zhou's angry voice resounded through the microphone. "This
student, did you listen to my speech carefully just now? !"
Clare nodded obediently, "Yes!"
Mr. Zhou was more angry, "You did?! Well, then repeat the last sentence I just said! "
All the teachers and students looked at Clare sympathetically. Mr. Zhou's words were so boring that no
one would have the mood to remember them.
Different from other people's nervousness or sympathy, Clare was relieved by what Mr. Zhou said. "It's
okay. It's simple.".
"Mr. Zhou, you just said : Teachers are the highest profession in the world. It's them who led you to a
life full of sunshine. It's them who taught you knowledge and gave you wisdom; it's them who led you to
plant the seeds of your dreams... " The words were repeated one by one. Although many students
hadn't listened carefully to the speech of Mr. Zhou, Mr. Zhou's gradually softened expression had told
everyone that Clare's repeated words were right.
"…… For your teachers and yourself, you must work harder and try your best to be 'I am proud of XY
High School today, and XY High School will be proud of me tomorrow.' "
With the perfect ending of the last sentence, Mr. Zhou was the first to applaud, and then the next
second, there were four rounds of applause. In the blink of an eye, the sympathy turned into
admiration, and the nervous person also breathed a sigh of relief.
When Clare sat down with the satisfaction of Mr. Zhou, Vincent came over and joked, "Mr. Zhou must
be moved to death now. No one has listened to his speech carefully for many years. Clare, you must
have been seduced by him as his confidant now. Believe it or not? "
Clare couldn't help shivering. She glared at Vincent and replied in a low voice, "YOU CURSE ME!"!"
Vincent chuckled.
In the front row, Maggie Peng turned around timidly and thanked her in a low voice.
Clare shook her head and said, "Don't worry. It's not a big deal." In fact, she was also wrong. If she
hadn't said those words, she wouldn't have made Maggie Peng laugh.
"Clare," out of admiration for her excellent performance just now, Lydia leaned over and said with
admiration, "you were so handsome just now!"
"Are you in love with me?" Clare said as she made herself sick.
With a serious look on his face, Sam told Clare, "don't worry. I've been as her desk mate for more than
a year. She's a normal person."
The three people, Clare, Vincent and Celine, tried their best to hold back their laughter and wanted to
cry. Lydia couldn't stop rolling her eyes.
After all the leaders, teachers and student representatives finished their presentation, Mr. Zhou
announced that the voting of the student union would begin.
The results of the selection of the officers of the student union and the chiefs of various organizations
were decided by the vote of all the students in the XY High School. It was divided into three parts: the
candidate application, the candidate on the stage and the student voting. The application for a
candidate was very simple. The candidate would fill in the relevant forms and then submit them to the
leaders of the school. This was done before the opening ceremony, so it was natural to skip over the
ceremony and directly enter the link of the election for a candidate.
Clare's campaign speech was neither the best nor the worst. There was only one word to judge her,
which was: conventional.
But anyone who knew her would know that it was obviously not her normal level. So after she stepped
down the stage, Lydia couldn't help but ask her in confusion, "why did you act out of order today?"
Clare smiled but didn't answer. She didn't do it wrong, but on purpose. She really wanted to join the
student union, but she also knew that a person could not be too outstanding. She had received enough
attention from XY High School. Sometimes, it was not a bad thing to behave a little bit ordinary.
After the speech of all the candidates, the ceremony came to the last part, student voting. There was a
voting device on each seat of the contest, on which the name list of the candidates and their
corresponding positions were displayed. All the students needed to do was to click the 'Yes' button
behind the person they had agreed. As for the final result, Mr. Zhou would personally assign someone
to make statistics, review and announce it.
As one of the candidates for the vice president of the student union, Clare couldn't participate in such a
vote. Since she was bored, she had to count her fingers.
Lydia knocked her with her elbow as she threw the vote, "Clare, among your three competitors this
time, Yana, the third grade of senior high school, is the vice president of the last student union, and she
must have more experience. However, she is going to take the college entrance examination, and the
school will certainly give her pressure, so the chances of her being renewed are not high. As for the
Wesley Chen, he is new to the school, and his mass base is not strong, so there is not much hope for
him. But Fiona... " Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
Although Fiona didn't have a good reputation among the students of XY High School, she still had
many supporters because of her family background and appearance, as well as her performance and
ability.
There wouldn't be one more after counting with ten fingers. Clare put down her hand and yawned. She
lazily leaned her head on Lydia's shoulder and said, "In fact, the most important thing in this kind of
thing is to get involved. Lydia, I'm just a new student. Don't hold too much hope on me. It will put me
under a lot of pressure. "
"Pressure is something you should have." Lydia chuckled, "Only pressure can motivate you. Besides,
although you just came here, you have a good reputation. My intuition tells me that you are very
hopeful this time. Anyway, at least... "She shook the voting machine in front of Clare," My vote must be
yours. "
