Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Andrew rarely felt uneasy, but his mind was in chaos now. It made it impossible for him to keep up his usual facade.
He took the bags from Melina with a stern face.
Melina quickly said, “Mister, I’m strong enough to carry them.”
“Shut up.”
Melina fell silent. She watched Andrew quietly as he carried the bags. He usually looked so high and mighty, but now he had a touch of humanity to him. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
When the two returned to Oakread, Wallace had already arrived. Melina’s face lit up, and she ran to him with a big smile.
“Mr. Wentworth Senior, you’re early! We bought lots of groceries. I’ll make you something delicious later.”
“Lina, you went shopping with Andrew?”
“Yes!” Melina replied enthusiastically.
Wallace’s face softened with a smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Ever since Lina had come into their lives, he had seen so many “firsts” from his grandson.
Melina headed to the kitchen with the groceries, busying herself with food preparation. Dinner that night was a feast, and both Melina and Wallace enjoyed themselves immensely. No one really cared whether Andrew enjoyed it.
After dinner, Wallace suggested playing Monopoly instead of going home. However, they needed at least three players for the game.
Wallace asked Andrew to join, and he surprisingly agreed.
Melina thought that was quite odd. They didn’t sign any contract today, so they didn’t need to play a happy couple. She didn’t understand why Andrew was suddenly so cooperative.
For the first game, Melina and Wallace teamed up against Andrew. He ultimately lost.
The situation was the same for the next two rounds as they continued to target Andrew.
Andrew was speechless. No one in Cyntia had ever seen Andrew lose so badly.
By the time Wallace left, it was already 10:00 pm. Melina stood up, ready to go as well. Trying to sound casual, Andrew said, “It’s really late. It’s hard to hail a ride now. You should stay at Oakread for the night.”
Melia replied quickly, “I knew this would happen, so I asked Mr. Henderson to lend me his scooter. It’s parked outside, so I can just ride it home.”
Andrew fell silent. He was trying to make her stay. Toby once told her once he got Melina to stay, she would stay again and again.
Unaware of Andrew’s thoughts, Melina waved goodbye. “Goodnight, mister. You should get some rest. I’m heading back.”
Melina was in a good mood due to the scrumptious meal.
She rode the scooter back to her place. But as she arrived at the doorstep, she noticed a large grocery bag sitting outside. It was filled with food.
Some of the items were the ones she had bought with Andrew earlier, but many others looked expensive.
She stood there, dumbfounded by his actions. Did he think she was a charity case? This was a massive change from his usual obnoxious attitude.
Just a short while ago, he had been cold and condescending. Now, he seemed to have softened up after she had yelled at him and walked away.
As she thought it over, her face suddenly turned red. She wondered if Andrew had fallen for her.
