Laughter rang through the house, the kind that settled deep in your chest and stayed there. The kind of laughter I never thought I'd get to hear again.

I stood in the doorway, watching as Luke and Jess maneuvered boxes from the U-Haul, bickering about who was carrying the heavier load. Josh was helping too, but knowing him, he'd take any excuse to slack off and tease them instead.

Luke set down his box with a thud, then wiped his brow dramatically. "Anyway. As I was saying before someone decided to flirt in front of me-" He shot us both a look. "Now that Josh got his contract back, we're officially back to being the Defend Beasts again." He smirked. "Back where we belong."

Josh's grip on me tightened slightly, and I felt the way his body relaxed into mine. Back where we belong.

Everything had come full circle.

Jess clapped her hands together, grinning like she was about to cry. "And now we're neighbors again! I get to see Asha every day, and Asha gets to see her niece and nephew whenever she wants." She turned to me and sighed. "I'm so damn happy, Laura. I can't believe it all worked out this perfectly." Jess said hanging the painting of me on the field up where it belongs in our house.

I swallowed against the lump forming in my throat and glanced around-the house, the people I loved, the life I got back.

I looked up at him, into the same eyes that had never once given up on me.
