Chapter 20
Postponed the Divorce
Lily smiled faintly and said, "Because we only accept you."
Harper knew that Lily didn't say this to coax her. She vaguely guessed that there might be something between the Martin family and Lauren that Benjamin didn't know. Before she could think about it carefully, Benjamin and Scott came in.
Scott looked at Harper gently and said, "Harper, you still have to work, so you go. Lily and I will stay in the hospital."
Harper wanted to stay here, so she looked at Benjamin.
Benjamin was calm. "Let's go. My parents can take care of Grandpa."
Harper could only give up. "Well, thank you. Benjamin and I will come over tonight."
"Okay, good girl. Go to work," Lily smiled softly.
Benjamin and Harper left the ward. They went to the parking lot in silence and got in the car.
Benjamin said, "Harper, we need to postpone the divorce. After Grandpa's condition stabilizes, we'll talk about it."
Harper was stunned for a moment. She looked at him and said in a low voice, "Is this what Scott meant?"
"Well. I think so too. What about you? Do you have any problem?" Benjamin asked.
Harper shook her head. "Of course not. Grandpa is so good to me. I can do anything for him. However, it may be difficult for you to explain to Lauren, right?" Benjamin frowned, and that upset emotion emerged again. He said calmly, "Harper, how many times do you want me to repeat it? The matter between us has nothing to do with Lauren." Harper pressed her lips.
She thought, "Has nothing to do with Lauren? He wants to marry Lauren. It does matter! In fact, he just doesn't want others to talk about her."
Harper sighed, feeling indescribably bitter inside.
...
Benjamin drove Harper downstairs to the company. Before getting out of the car, she hesitated to ask him about the suspected plagiarism of the company's design drawings, but she held it back. She didn't know how to speak. Besides, she didn't want to make her inferior to Benjamin.
Harper finally didn't say anything. She watched the car drive away before walking into the building.
When Harper entered the company, Frank was already there. He looked a little solemn. She asked, "What happened?"
Frank didn't say anything but just motioned for her to go into the office. After closing the door, he said, "Someone has posted about plagiarism on the local forum in Mayby. Several companies that we have cooperated with before are now asking if it was true. In addition, Summit Realty also requires us to give an explanation as soon as possible. If we don't provide a satisfactory explanation within today, they will contact their lawyers to sue us."
After being sued, Summit Realty would terminate the agreement and ask for liquidated damages.
Although these consequences had been stated before, Summit Realty hoped that they would directly communicate with the Martin Group to reach a settlement. In this way, Summit Realty won't terminate the agreement, and the cooperation will continue. Even if the cooperation was terminated, at least there would be no legal action liability or indemnity.
Harper was a little anxious. She pressed her lips and kept silent for a moment before saying, "If other companies ask for an investigation, then arrange for people to cooperate with them. The whole process must be transparent. In addition, have you investigated the company staff?"
The company was not large, but its operations were very professional, and its personnel were outstanding in this industry. It became popular in the construction industry in the past six months.
Some counterparts were jealous. They resented that a newly founded small company could have such good development. Therefore, it was not surprising that someone would cause trouble. Harper and Frank had always been mentally prepared for this situation.NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
Frank said, "Yes, but the mole is well-hidden. At this critical period, we must do nothing rash so as not to rattle the employees."
