Chapter 917: Chaos Everywhere

After Mr. Gordts finished speaking and straightened his clothes, he pushed open the car door and

waved at the driver standing nearby.

The driver, upon seeing Mr. Gordts' gesture, approached and got into the car.

"Take Miss Read back," Mr. Gordts instructed the driver.

The driver nodded and started the car, driving away.

Albi had initially planned to get out of the car and discuss a few more project-related matters with Mr.

Gordts. However, seeing the car shaking, he understood that it was not the right time to approach.

After Mr. Gordts' car left, Albi took out his phone and dialed Mr. Gordts' number.

When Mr. Gordts answered the call, Albi went straight to the point and clarified some project-related

matters before asking, "Do you have any further suggestions, Mr. Gordts?"

After listening to Albi, Mr. Gordts responded, "No, as long as Mr. Lawrence agrees, everything is fine."

Albi acknowledged, "I won't disturb you any longer, Mr. Gordts."

With that, Albi hung up the phone.

Jeffrey, who had been standing by, saw Albi ending the call and spoke up, "Albi, this world is really

chaotic."

Albi chuckled lightly upon hearing Jeffrey's words. "Many things are not as simple as they appear on

the surface. There is chaos everywhere."

Jeffrey nodded. "I can see that now."

With a smile, Albi turned to Jeffrey. "Regarding today's matters at the company, it's best not to discuss

them outside. Even if nothing happened to you, when things are spoken about too much, they change

and become troublesome."

Jeffrey understood the implications in Albi's words and nodded. "Albi, don't worry. I've been by Mr.

Lawrence's side for many years, and I know what is appropriate."

Albi nodded in response. "Go and take care of your tasks. I'll go see Mr. Lawrence."

Jeffrey nodded and turned to attend to his own duties, while Albi headed to Zane's office.

Upon entering the office, Albi immediately sensed that something was amiss.

"Mr. Lawrence," Albi greeted, his tone serious even during the greeting.

Zane looked at Albi and asked, "Did she leave?"

Albi nodded. "Yes, she left. I wanted to discuss something about the project with you..."

"From now on, you and Jeffrey will handle the project," Zane interrupted before Albi could finish his

sentence. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Albi was momentarily taken aback by Zane's words but quickly nodded. "Alright."

Zane glanced at the time on his wrist. "If there's nothing else, I'll head back. You can go back directly

later."

"Understood."

After Zane left the Lawrence Group, he first went to South Hospital.

Anika had been staying at South Hospital and hadn't come out for some time. Although her condition

had slightly improved, Dr. Wood advised her to go out more. However, Anika had been resisting going

outside lately. Even when Iris visited her, Anika would exchange only a few sentences before finding

various excuses to send Iris back.

A few days ago, Iris had messaged Zane about Anika's situation. Since Zane couldn't make it due to

his business in Viteto, he had told Iris that he would visit Anika once he returned.

Originally, Zane planned to bring Yanis along, but today Yanis had made plans with Bonnie to

accompany her for a prenatal check-up.

Zane didn't want to disturb Yanis, so he decided to go on his own.

The Lawrence Group was a distance away from South Hospital, and by the time Zane arrived in the

afternoon, Dr. Wood had just finished seeing a patient and came out of a room, spotting Zane.

"Mr. Lawrence," Dr. Wood greeted Zane as he approached.

Zane nodded and walked up to Dr. Wood. "Is Anika in her room?"

Dr. Wood glanced at the time. "At this hour, she should be in the backyard. Let me take you there."

Zane followed Dr. Wood to the backyard.

"Has her condition improved recently?" Zane asked Dr. Wood as they walked.

"Did Mr. Duncan tell you about Anika's recent situation?" Dr. Wood inquired.

Zane nodded. "He gave me a brief summary."

"The situation is still the same. Anika's condition fluctuates. Recently, she hasn't been doing well. She

doesn't even want to see Mr. Duncan. Every time he visits, it's evident that she only exchanges a few

words before finding an excuse to send him away," Dr. Wood explained in a low voice. "After Mr.

Duncan leaves, she sits by the window with a disappointed look, staring in the direction of the

entrance."

Dr. Wood then looked at Zane. "Did Anika hear something or experience something in the past two

days?"

Zane carefully recollected the events and shook his head. "Nothing happened."

"It's possible that she heard something from someone else. She's very sensitive right now, and words

that may seem insignificant to us can be devastating to her," Dr. Wood replied.

Zane gazed at Anika, who was sitting alone under a tree, lost in thought. His brows furrowed slightly.

"Can I take her outside for a walk?"

Dr. Wood hesitated for a moment. "For about an hour, stay nearby and don't go too far."

Zane acknowledged, "Alright."

"Go ahead, and contact me if you need anything."

Zane nodded and approached Anika.

As he stood in front of her, Zane called out in a low voice, "Anika?"

Anika looked at the shoes that came into her view and slowly raised her gaze upon hearing Zane's

voice, recognizing the person standing before her.

Seeing that it was Zane, Anika quickly stood up. "Brother!"

Zane reached out and pulled her into a gentle hug. "Take it easy."

Anika hugged Zane briefly and then looked at him. "When did you come back? What about Sister-in-

law? Didn't she come with you?"

Zane whispered, "She's accompanying Bonnie for a check-up at the hospital today. I didn't tell her.

We'll come together in a couple of days."

Anika nodded. "Brother, have you eaten? I have lots of delicious food in my room. Iris bought them for

me."

Zane gently ruffled Anika's head with his hand. "No need. I've already eaten."

After a pause, Zane extended his hand to Anika. "Shall we go for a walk?"

Anika hesitated for a moment and looked around. "Can I go out now? Did you ask Dr. Wood?"

"I asked him. We'll just stroll around nearby and come back later," Zane reassured her.

Anika agreed with a nod and extended her hand to Zane. As they walked toward the entrance, Anika

suddenly spoke up, "Brother, I dreamed about Dad these past few days."

Hearing Anika's words, Zane's steps faltered slightly. "What did you dream about?"

"I dreamt that he took me to the movies and to an amusement park. We did many

activities together, rode roller coasters, went to haunted houses, and even rode on a carousel... so

many things..."
