His Destructive, Toxic Love

Chapter 285

"So?" She furrowed her brows slightly, an unconscious gesture that only added to her allure.

He was entranced, gently holding the back of her head as he leaned in for a kiss. She didn't resist. Neither did she respond-she just let him.

He nibbled on her earlobe, his voice intense. "So, let's just stay together."

"Why bother? Isn't it better to find someone you truly love and spend your life with them?" She found Casper somewhat pitiable.

He sighed almost imperceptibly. "How do you know I don't love you?"

Her eyes flickered slightly.

Did he love her? Did he even know what love was? His idea of love seemed more like possession. That was not love. Love is about tolerance, understanding, and absolute trust. Casper could never grasp these concepts. "I stopped loving you a long time ago and I won't fall for you again."

"There might be a miracle. I hope for a miracle," he said, his voice unusually gentle.

He knew regaining her trust would be hard. She had walked into this willingly. Now that she was here, he wasn't going to let her go so easily. Call him possessive or even sick-he didn't care.

His scorching kiss trailed down, his rough hands tearing open her blouse, gripping her waist tightly.

"Casper, I'm really on my period." She noticed something was off about him. His body was burning up.

Reaching out, she touched his forehead. He had a fever. "You're burning up," she said, trying to push him away.Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

He encircled her instead, a teasing smile playing on his lips, "Are you worried about me?"

"I just think you're weak. You've caught a fever from the rain," she scoffed.

"Weak?" He could overpower her right here and now, fever or not. Without giving her a chance to think, he pressed his hand against the back of her neck, kissing and biting aggressively. She winced in pain and slapped him, "Can you get a grip?"

"I am perfectly fine," he said, his eyes bloodshot. Eliza suddenly chuckled. "Take a look in the mirror. You look like you're about to drop dead, and I don't want to be implicated."

Eliza pushed Casper away and walked out of the bathroom.

He turned on the cold water and

splashed his face. It was just a fever. Nobody was dying. He looked at himself in the mirror, realizing his face was indeed a bit red.

The next day, Casper personally drove Eliza to the auction house. Before she left, he issued a stern warning, "Keep your distance from that guy. I can get him fired at any time."

Eliza ignored him, slamming the car door and walking away. Casper was left frustrated, his mood souring.

At the office, he endured three consecutive hours of meetings. Coupled with the fever that still hadn't subsided, he looked worse for wear.

"Mr. Casper, maybe we should go to the hospital for an IV?" Dillon suggested, worried.

Casper, with his feet propped up on the desk and a fever patch on his forehead, waved him off. "I'm not that fragile."

"I think it's because of your knife wound and the fact that you rescued someone at sea. Your body hasn't fully recovered," Dillon muttered.

Of course, Casper knew the reason but wouldn't blame Eliza. It was all his own doing.

"Do you have anything else to say? If not, leave."

Dillon hesitated, unsure whether to speak. Casper frowned. "Out with it."

"It's about the investigation on Aaron. Do you want to hear about it now?" Dillon saw Casper looking drained.

With his eyes half-closed, Casper weakly lifted a finger, signaling him to speak.

"So," Dillon cleared his throat. "when Jeffrey fell ill back then, it actually wasn't necessary to have your wife's blood for the treatment."
