Chapter 11 Being Watched
Chapter 11 Being Watched
After a set of anxious catwalk, Sadie Chambers turned around and walked back. By accident, she
realized someone was looking at her and felt scared.
It wasn’t easy for Talia to get this job. Hopefully, whoever watching her wasn’t trying to pick on her and
not pay her. Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
She had seen this kind of issue before. Her colleague accidentally sprained her ankle and her
performance fee was deducted by twenty percent.
Even top models couldn’t guarantee there wouldn’t be any unexpected issue on stage. Yet, they
couldn’t bother less, not paying you the full performance fees simply meant no.
She went back to the private room that was used as the backstage. As soon as she walked in, she
immediately put the tray back in its original spot. Then she picked up another cheongsam and put it on.
Even if there was any minor problem, she had to finish her walk for this half an hour.
As she finished changing her clothes, she unexpectedly saw Talia Burns standing in the middle of the
house with a dim face and she was suddenly shocked. “Talia?”
“You don’t have to go out anymore.” Talia removed the scarf in her hands and carefully tied it around
Sadie’s waist. “Follow me quickly.”
Sadie was confused as she was dragged outside. She only reacted after she got into the car and she
asked with doubt, “Talia, did I do anything wrong?”
“No, you did well just now. A minor mistake doesn’t matter.” Talia let out a breath and showed a smile
on her face. “You stay in the car and you won’t be paid less. If the others asked, just say your stomach
is not feeling good. Can you remember this?”
Julian Mccarthy’s assistant called her personally. How would she dare to let Sadie perform catwalk
again? Especially in this sexy costume. She still wanted to live.
Something didn’t make sense. This girl was so ugly. Why would Julian, a powerful man, be interested
in her? It was not only him but also Samuel Read who was inside.
He actually asked her whether Sadie did other ‘work’ which almost scared her to death. These rich
guys really had some different tastes.
Sadie pressed her lips into a line and nodded. She felt that Talia was hiding something from her.
However, she wasn’t willing to tell her and Sadie didn’t ask any further. She was taking an unfair
advantage as she only performed for only a turn and she would still get the same performance fee as
her colleagues.
“I’m going back to manage the stage again. You just stay here.” Talia patted on her shoulder. She
closed the car door and walked back.
Sadie looked at her until she was out of her sight. She was extremely confused. What was actually
Talia hiding from her? Since last weekend, she was acting strange.
She was very warm, but not from her heart. Every time she smiled at her, she felt fear as if she will turn
hostile in the next second.
After waiting in the car for twenty minutes, Talia brought the other colleagues out, showing a relaxed
face. Sadie looked at her through the car window, her worries slowly faded.
Luckily, no unnecessary problem had occurred because of her mistakes. Everyone got into the car and
saw her sitting inside earlier. They were curious and asked her about it.
Sadie just said everything that Talia had told her and sat quietly in the corner with a bitter smile.
Everyone didn’t doubt her words at all and they comforted her. This matter was then finally over.
Sadie went back to the shop and changed out of her cheongsam. She received the performance fee
tonight and returned to the orphanage.
Otto Newman asked his assistant to send the card to the orphanage. The card was given to Libby
Webb and she couldn’t wait to check it.
With this money, she would have enough money to pay back Julian right after the weekend work.
She went upstairs and opened the door. Libby who had already showered was in her precious black
pure silk pyjamas, playing on her phone on her bed lazily.
“Sister, did someone come here to meet me around seven? Did he give me anything?” Sadie put her
bag onto her bed and said excitedly. “It’s a card.”
Libby rolled her eyes and hardly suppressed her detest towards Sadie in her mind. She raised her
head from her phone and pointed at the desk. “It’s over there, look for it yourself.”
Otto was such a nuisance. She asked to borrow money from him. He lent her but then asked his
assistant to send the card to Sadie.
What did he actually treat her as!? A prostitute that he could call whenever he liked?
Sadie didn’t notice her facial expression. She smiled and walked quickly to pick up the card. “Sister,
you don’t have to take up that many tutoring jobs anymore in the future. I will return Dean’s medical
expenses to Otto by myself.”
Upon hearing this, there was more hatred in her heart.
Otto… She had never called Otto like that before. Had they been this close after only a few days?
Sadie kept her precious card. Without caring about her being silent, she showed a smiley face. “Dean
is recovering well from the surgery. She should be able to be discharged soon.”
She wouldn’t have to work this hard and she could finish her college at ease when that time came.
“Hopefully. I am tired. Stop disturbing me.” Libby replied dully. She turned over from her and showed a
ferocious face.
She wasn’t as tall as Sadie. She didn’t have a good body proportion as her, but she still had a good
body shape as she didn’t have excessive fat at all. She wouldn’t believe that Otto had only bought her
without any extra feelings.
“Okay.” Sadie spat out her tongue. She relaxed herself and took her bag. Then she opened the door
and left.
Communication University was pretty far away from the orphanage. She couldn’t spend the night here
unless it was the weekend.
As soon as she walked out of the orphanage, she took out her phone to check the time. Suddenly, a
black Rolls-Royce stopped beside her when she was about to wait for the bus.
There was a warm yellow light from the street lamp. The car looked dazzling and overbearing when the
light was reflected by its honorable car body.
Sadie stopped her steps immediately. Julian’s cold and expressionless face appeared in her mind.
She took a step back and wanted to turn away and leave. An extremely cold and deep voice came
behind her. “Get in the car.”
The moment she heard the voice, the heat surrounding disappeared simply because of how cold it
was.
Sadie bit her lips hard and turned her body back hesitantly. “Mr. Mccarthy…”
“If you don’t wish to let the orphanage be torn down, get in the car now.” Julian raised the car window.
His expression couldn’t be seen as he was fully covered in the car.
Sadie had no choice. She pressed her lips tight and walked past the front bumper unwillingly. Then she
opened the backseat’s door.
The car was driven into the traffic.
She didn’t ask where they were going and what he want to do. She only sat quietly with a sullen face.
The orphanage was her home. It was also many abandoned and abducted children’s home. If the
orphanage was sold, they would have nowhere to go.
The air was tight in the car. Julian and Sadie were not talking so it manifested an awkward atmosphere.
Khalid sat on the passenger seat. He was sensible to pull down the car visor.
Lady Sadie had been together with Julian since she was brought to the Mccarthy family. These young
couples were envied by a lot of people.
If the cruise wasn’t on fire and it didn’t explode during her birthday, at this time, Julian would have taken
her to the United States to register their marriage.
In their country, Lady Sadie had to be 20 years of age to register for marriage. However, it could be
done at 18 overseas.
Julian had planned that well, but the accident made him live in guilt for the past six years. He had been
unwilling to believe that the fire had killed Lady Sadie.
Since then, Julian hadn’t slept well until a few days ago when the identity of Lady Sadie was confirmed.
Khalid was happy that Lady Sadie didn’t die. He was really worried that Julian would still be depressed.
Although it was difficult to investigate why the cruse was on fire again, it had to be done. If he hadn’t
seen Lady Sadie alive, he wouldn’t doubt that it was an accident.
