Firework 8
I stretched my stiff neck and looked around, only to realize the office was empty. Startled, I glanced out the window. The sky was already dark because the sun had set.
“Ah… it’s so late,” I murmured, surprised.
I used to be the first one to leave work every day, never imagining I would become the last.
“You must have lost track of time with all this work. How about hanging out with me? The night sky tonight is going to be amazing, I think,” Thomas suggested.
His offer reminded me of the gift Jared had thrown away, so I decided to use this opportunity to make it up to Thomas.
I agreed, smiling, “Sure. But I need to tidy up a few things first. Wait a minute, please.”
Alright, take your time,” he replied.
After leaving Promise High, Thomas and I decided to visit the Night Market, a place we frequented when we were students.
While we were still browsing, I took the opportunity to admit, “Thomas, please don‘ t be mad at me. I… actually lost your present. So, to make up for it, I’ll treat you to some snacks, okay?”
Thomas was a bit surprised at first but then smiled and said, “That’s fine, The gift was actually just a ticket to a theater performance this weekend. I remember how much you‘ ve always loved going to
the theater.”
“But a ticket theater is not supposed to be that big, right?” I asked confusingly.
“The other things in the package were just decorations, nothing important. But don’t worry, I can still buy you another ticket,” he said, hesitating for a moment before adding, “If… you want it.‘
I nodded eagerly. “Of course, I want it. Besides, I‘ m free this weekend.”
“Great, let’s go then,” he agreed with a smile.
I felt a wave of gratitude wash over me. With Thomas by my side, I no longer felt so alone in the city. He was always there for me, even without me asking.
I couldn’t help but express my gratitude, “Thank you, Thomas.”
“Anytime for you, Olivia,” he replied warmly.
The weekend turned out to be wonderful, full of pleasant moments. But like a bolt of lightning in broad daylight, the following day brought an unexpected surprise.
The academy was visited by none other than Jared, the Alpha of the High Moon Pack.
From the moment he arrived, I could feel his gaze on me, but I chose to ignore it. Fortunately, his business was only with the headmaster, and he merely greeted the mentors in passing.
As we all prepared to head to our classes, I walked down the hallway with Thomas, chatting like usual. “How long are you planning to work here?” I asked.
“This is my last week. Mr. Maros is returning to the Pack next week,” he replied.
While we were talking, Jared suddenly appeared and grabbed Thomas by the collar, his face a mask of fury.
“How dare you approach my mate?“, Jared growled, releasing his Alpha aura, which made Thomas instantly weak. “You‘ re my Beta subordinate. You work for me, not to go sneaking behind my back!”
I stepped between them, trying to break up the confrontation. “Jared, stop it!”
Being Jared’s mate, I wasn‘ t affected by his Alpha aura, but I knew how painful it must have been for Thomas.
“I told you I would reject you if we ever meet again, didn’t I?” I threatened.
In my words, Jared released Thomas and shoved him away. Then, he grabbed my wrist and dragged me to a secluded corner.
“Let go of me!” I demanded, trying to free myself.
Jared didn’t listen. He cornered me, his tone accusatory, “Is this why you left home, so that you All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
could be alone with Thomas? Is that why you keep threatening to reject me? Are you willing to sever our bond just to be with that Beta?”
