Epilogue
Epilogue
Arabella
It’s been almost six months since the attack. We won in the attack but we lost something precious. The
after effects of the loss are still not fading but it is creating a sort of depressed atmosphere around us. I
don’t think anyone could ever forget that day.
I still remember the day as clear as it was yesterday. Everything was a chaos when we came out of the
safe house. It wasn’t in Scotland but right under our house. We didn’t know till then that the house had
a working basement with hidden entryway before we were shoved in there from under the table in
dad’s office. Cassidy and Greyson had performed a number of spell on it and the Knights had repaired
and stocked it with supplies for us to stay there. Greyson had also made the basement sound proof
and sort of unable to plot.
We met there with the others who were considered dead in the fire. They had already moved everyone
before the fire. Cassidy had had a vision about the fire and that made it possible for them to take action
before the disaster happened but they didn’t have a safe place then and had no choice but to repair
and put spells on the basement and use it as one.
I saw dad run inside with mom wrapped in his shirt when I came in the living room. She was bleeding
badly from her neck and a black substance was dripping from under her. Cassidy ran in right after him.
I followed them upstairs. She flipped mom over her stomach and removed the shirt as soon as dad put
mom down on the bed in their bedroom.
The scene was horrific. Mom’s entire back had turned black and her skin looked like it had melted
around what looked like a stab wound. I felt winded. It felt like someone was squeezing my neck and
cutting my air flow. Dad pulled the bed cloth up to mom’s waist as she was completely naked.
“Come on. Let them work.” Zeno said softly and tried to pull me outside.
He was looking at everywhere but where mom was. He looked like he saw a very bad accident.
“No we need her here. Rest leave.” Cassidy said in a firm voice.
I didn’t realize that my siblings were in the room as well. Uncle Ryder was looking at mom with a horror
filled look.
“She will need me here.” Zeno mumbled looking nauseated.
That’s when I noticed the cuts on his arm and chest.
“You need to get checked. Go.” I told him trying to push him out as others left the room except dad and
Ryder.
“No. I will stay here with you. They will heal. We need to focus on Aunt Amy first.” Zeno said firmly. “Tell
me what needs to be done. I will help as much as I can.”
“Just stay here with her while she heals Amara.” Cassidy said as she started to wipe the black
substance off of mom’s back.
Zeno looked at Cassidy with a puzzled expression but didn’t say anything. I threw Zeno a towel from
the bathroom to press on the wounds and told him to take a seat. He did so without complaint.
“What do you want me to do?” I asked Cassidy.
“Heal her neck while I get this poison out as much as I can.”
What if I couldn’t heal her? What if I messed up? I glanced at dad who looked utterly terrified. I shook
my head to clear the bad thoughts from my head and took a deep breath to help with focus.
I imagined healing the muscles and skin as my hands started to glow and I placed them on her neck. A
few minutes later when I removed my hands, the skin didn’t even look like it was ever damaged.
I looked at mom’s back and sighed in relief as I saw the black thing that was spreading in her back was
retreating slowly as Cassidy muttered something under her breath. There was a ball of the black
substance forming under her outstretched hand.
I squeezed dad’s hand to reassure him. He threw himself at me and started sobbing loudly. I pulled him
to his feet and walked him to the couch beside Zeno as I didn’t want Cassidy to be disturbed from
removing that thing from mom’s body. I let dad cry on my shoulder.
After a few minutes, his sobs died down and his breathing became a little even. I looked over at Zeno
to find him gawking at me in astonishment.
“You can heal?” He asked in a whisper.
“Yeah?” I replied confused.
“Why didn’t you tell me before?” he asked looking offended.
“Um…you never asked?”
He glared at me in reply.
“What if she doesn’t wake up?” Dad asked startling me.
“Of course she will wake up. Don’t think like that dad. Mom is a very strong woman. Surely I don’t need
to tell you that.” I told him firmly and wiped his face.
Dad nodded and went to sit beside mom on the bed.
On the inside I am scared as hell. What if she really didn’t wake up? What if she… she died? No. She
will fine soon. Don’t think like that Aria.
“Aria come here quick.” Cassidy snapped me out of my thoughts.
I ran towards the bed to find the wound clear of the black substance but now it was gushing out blood.
Whatever she was stabbed with had left quite a big hole in mom’s back.
“Heal her as fast as you can. The poison had stopped her healing momentarily.” Cassidy said urgently.
I quickly sat down and started healing mom’s wound. It was harder than the other wounds as I had to
regrow her tissues, muscles and skin. Fortunately, none of her bones were broken by the blow. I
poured all of my spirit energy into the healing and slowly but surely it started to heal.
Once the wound was healed, Cassidy flipped mom on her back.
“Check for any other injuries.”
I nodded and checked over mom’s entire body but there wasn’t anything to worry about but her body
was lacking in blood and spirit energy. I told that to Cassidy.
“Steven I need your blood. Amy has lost too much blood. I don’t think her body will accept any other
blood than yours.”
Dad complied without any complaint. Greyson had shown up only a second after Cassidy talked about
the blood transfusion carrying IV’s and other equipment. Cassidy set to work as Greyson cleaned the
nasty cut he had on his cheek.
I went to sit near Zeno but it felt like the world was spinning around me. I think I used too much spirit
energy. But for some reason I knew mom was going to be alright.
“Zeno take Aria to her room. She must be exhausted.” Cassidy said as she attached an IV to mom’s
arm. “Get yourself cleaned after that.” She checked how much the blood bag had filled from dad’s
blood. “Ryder sit down. She will be fine.”
I had totally forgotten about uncle Ryder. I looked at him to find him frozen in place with his eyes fixed
on mom. I was about to walk to him to give him a hug but Zeno picked me up and walked out of the
room.
“Close your eyes.” Zeno said as he placed on my bed.
His wounds were still in a bad shape.
I tried to tell him to get himself checked but my eyes fluttered close and I was out like a light.
When I woke up, I found out that I had slept through the day. I also found out that Hudson and Francis
were badly injured while fighting and we also had two casualties. We had lost Alexander Knight in the
war. He got killed while saying Francis and Hudson when they were swarmed by the demons.
I didn’t know what to think about it. I felt numb inside. We had just met again and I had lost him. Eros
didn’t even know that he was his biological father but we told him on the funeral that we conducted a
week after. The Knight family left after that.
Hudson and Francis healed to full health. The others with minor injuries also healed up in no more than
a few days. The pack members rebuilt their houses. They just finished construction a month ago.
The second casualty we had was the spirit alpha from Lucas’s pack. The sword needed more spirit
energy to finish the demon off and the spirit alpha had volunteered for it. Mom has channeled his
energy into the sword and we lost him a month after the war as he had grown too weak. His eldest son
took over now and is looking over the remaining pack. They are staying in the Greycoast woods
permanently.
Mom on the other hand wasn’t so lucky. She went into a coma. Dad and uncle Ryder stayed by her
side day and night. The energy in the house seemed to have been sucked and it had turned gloomy
but it’s slowly starting to change.
Uncle Austin, Aunt Cloe and Zahra are visiting us every month and their plane will be landing at the
airport in an hour now. Zeno is coming with me to pick them up. They will be staying here for a few
days this time.
I entered mom’s room to find dad right beside her. Eros was curled up on the other side and Uncle
Ryder was sitting beside the bed with his eyes focused on mom. She had woken up three days ago.
She is weak and can’t move for now. She can’t even speak properly as it hurts her throat. The lower All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
part of her body is more or less paralyzed. Cassidy said mom will heal faster now that she is awake.
Mom gave me a weak smile which I returned with a bright grin.
Zeno and I ‘officially’ started dating four months ago. Hudson found his mate in school. She is adorable
and is on the brainier side. Hudson is head over heels for her.
So yeah, everything is going slowly to normal now. We lost someone on the battle field but we also
found our strengths. Now we know that we can fight anything that will come our way. Even in the future
if we faced difficulty like these, we will stand together and put an end to everything and anything that
will try to destroy or harm us. Nothing can break us apart.
THE END.
